After using the sxk bb with the dna board I have decided that I’m going to replace the 70w board in the bb I got from wtmke1 with a dna board also. Of course it’s going to have to wait until after the first of the year before I buy it.

I would just keep it as is til it dies...DNA60 boards are about $60.

The time spent and getting the needed extras will bring you nearly to the price of another SXK. Version.

Food for thought

Yeah. 50 plus shipping for the board and screen. I’m going to salvage the button and firing boards from the 70 for it. I don’t really care if it has a usb. Worked in the electronics industry for over ten years in my younger days and I still enjoy tinkering. It’s more of a just want to do it to tinker than anything.

After a grueling two week wait my vape shell will be arriving tomorrow and I will have a house full of family for Christmas. Do I ignore them and play with my new toy or wait one more day? Tough call.

MF bridges are up on Friendly Flipper! $62 for the full kit!

Holy Crap! They want 17$ to ship the MTL kit plus an additional 2.15$ PP/GST charge ( which I assume is PayPal ) ... fuck that, I'm not that desperate for it.

I got the vape shell in today. Snuck away from all the family for a few minutes to slap a build in it. So far I’m really enjoying it.

Thought about getting one myself. Had the insider but sold it. Just didn't use it.

Yeah I'm not a fan of their shipping rate...because they only have the one option (last I looked) but I can understand it, quick, trusted and I believe it was FedEx...

What I am really not a fan of is the price of the kit...but hey some people really like the MF kit... I wasn't one of them.

He is charging pretty much what the rate is from Modfactory when currency is converted. But I know he didn't pay that price, and probably paid what many of us did on the group buy price.

Total tangent... you want to know the biggest rip off on a singular item?

Titanium knife clips or Micarta/G10 scales... I might invest into a small CNC and start making G10 and Micarta Scales for knives... big bucks in that scam market.

For example: MXG and Casey Lynch deep carry clips...

Lynch Clip $30 (Includes Shipping)

upload_2018-12-22_13-55-58.png

MXG Clip: $30 Includes Shipping

upload_2018-12-22_13-57-2.png

China $4.74

upload_2018-12-22_13-58-0.png

All 3 Titanium, all funky ass blue... all do the same thing.

Heck its almost worth mass buying 1000 of the China ones and sell them for $15+ $3.95 flat rate postage.

and yeah the price per drop significantly when you buy in bulk from $4.74 each to like $3.29...

Lynch Clip are life time warranty, MXG are not, and neither are the China ones... but what stops ya from saying it has a life time warranty... the only way a clip breaks is if it snags, which isn't normal use failure ;)

So $3290 investment, plus $500 shipping...$3790 for 1000.

Sell at $15 or $15000-$3950 (Shipping of each in total)

$15000- $3790+$3950= $7260 profit...

BUT Don... that is only for one knife... well not really... it covers a multitude of knives from Spyderco which utilizes the 3 hole configuration...and an example of how popular Spydercos are... a recent release of the Paramilitary 2 in CTS-204P had 628 unit run 2 days ago, and sold out in a day ( I grabbed 2 btw lol ) and this doesn't stop you from doing the same for some other knife types...

Anyway... just ranting about pricing lol

Full disclosure. It’s the $15 sxk clone. Full kit with all airflow inserts and 510 adapter for dry burning your coils. I’ve found that most of the time the clones can be made to work well also.

I suspect they have some kind of deal with DHL and no doubt it makes it simpler for them to only offer the one option but I just can't see paying almost as much for shipping as the item itself. Heck, the whole thing can fit in an itty bitty ziplock bag ... it just doesn't make any sense to pay that much for something that could be sent in a small mailer.

I'd love to have a CNC myself, I'm for anything that justifies procuring one! :D

Just to let you guys know, I ordered my MF bridges from the manufacturer .They came in a plain envelope with a crap load of stamps on it.

Yeah FF is never cheap. The shipping is always the deal breaker for me. Easier than trying to get one secondhand or from the modder is the only reason I would if I didn't already have one.

I had the clone VS and didn't get on with it well. Kept getting dry hits toward the end of the tank. I unloaded it, but recently picked up and authentic and I love it!
Here's hoping you have better luck with yours! Keep us updated, please!

I’ve ran a tank through it today and didn’t have any trouble with dry hits or leaking so far. I did watch several videos on wicking it before I got it though. To me it seemed like there wasn’t going to be enough cotton. I’m also using a 60/40 juice in it. I’ll try a 70/30 in it later and see if that makes a difference.

Glad you're getting on well with it! I wonder if they enlarged the juice flow holes a bit.

Saw the top fill... grown so accustomed to the bottom fill.

Plus I am not sure if the DT is proprietary similar to how the Skyline is (JFC reasoning)
It does look interesting but at 45 euros the damn thing is almost as expensive as a new base. I think I'll stick with what I have.

Day two with the sxk vape shell. I did change from a simple round wire coil to a 30/34 ss316L Clapton. Slightly spaced coming in at 1 ohm. Running at 13 watts. I must say that the Clapton is more flavorful. Ran through two tanks today and still no issues with dry hits when the juice gets low yet. My only issue with it is the airflow control ring sticks out too far for me to be able to use my dry plug So tomorrow I will take an emory board and file the tabs on the ring down some so that I can use my dry plug. Running without it isn’t bad but I would like to have a little more restricted airflow.

I'm surprised SXK is still making them!

That Crossbow clone went in my cart too. I'm holding off for now since I'm totally satisfied with the VapeShell with the MTL inserts though.

Spiderco knives are really good but nowadays the damn things cost almost as much as my work boots in many cases, sometimes more!

I was lucky when I was in the field... bi-yearly stipends for work boots...always covered $150... buy a pair of Thorogoods and Chippewas.

But with Spydercos... there are a bunch of budget knives they make that are great and under $60...but they aren't the "Super Steel" blades like that 20CV linked above, or even the normal CPM S30V...

By all means don't disregard the lower priced ones... the VG-10 stuff still very slicey and with even a half decent sharpening system, you can get even cheap assed 8Cr13MoV or Aus-8 Beard shaving sharp...but the down side of these types steel is how often you will be sharpening them ;)

Here is a link that ranks steels very loosely

https://knifeinformer.com/discovering-the-best-knife-steel/

But if you want to get into the nitty gritty of Blade Steels after testing etc.

https://knifesteelnerds.com/2018/09/03/ranking-the-steel-ranking-articles/

Now lets say you're getting your first, "Real" knife and don't want to spend a ton (think sub $100) but want the best you can buy for that.

There are a few... ;)

https://www.bladehq.com/cat--Knives...erial:CPM-20CV/filter:blade_material:CPM-S90V

Just have to choose now which style, ergos, flipper, auto, folding and what you truly will use it for... if just box opening and letter opening...on the left side, add VG-10 blades ;) (great Steel truly)

I would love a auto but the place I was looking at (Smoky mountain) doesn't ship out of state (Tennessee I think). I have a couple of Spiderco in my "earthquake bug out bag" but you can never have enough good blades at hand.

Hah you have a BoB also

Main reason some places don’t mail autos here in California is anything above 2” blade in auto or out the front is illegal, and they can be fined for even shipping it.

Odis is also having 55% off (no boxxers) using code Boxing55

Thinking of grabbing an Odis 16 for $54 shipped ($114 regular price shipped)

With just the way this is designed, it will be similar to Exocet- Doggy ... since you don't see a juice channel, its the only logical outcome... which will also tell you how high up the Juice channel will be (Just above the deck line ;) )
