New to mesh, when to replace cotton/mesh

So, I've been vaping the Profile RDA with OFRF mesh and Wotofo cotton for the past 5 days solid, I'm using Samsung 30T batteries on a Asmodus Pumper 21 mech mod.

Last night and this morning, I've got a wee bit of a burnt taste. Not all the time, Generally my wicks are at least heavily saturated and never dry. And this is the case when I do get a burnt taste (only been a couple of times, checked each time and wicks have been soaked). If I squonk up a couple of pumps all is good again. But still...

I'm curious, how long is it normally until you have to replace the cotton and mesh? I'd have thought the mesh is good much longer than coil, so at least 2 weeks on the mesh and about 7 days for the cotton seeing as it's so thick.

Thoughts?

Edit: This is not a stab at the profile rda or any other kit. The combination is by far, the best vaping experience I've ever had, it's ground breaking and I strongly suggest everyone to spend $50 getting the RDA, after market mesh and extra cotton.

I'm sure others more familiar with this product can offer better insight. From what I read of your post though, to me, it seems you have some good common sense about when to replace cotton and mesh. I'll further say that usually if you start getting a funky taste, probably good to at least swap out the wick material. A lot of this kind of stuff is highly subjective and open to personal interpretation, speculation, opinion. Everyone has opinions like everyone has anal orifices, almost all of them can stink, inclusive of my own. Sometimes the better answer to questions lies in trusting your own instincts.

I agree on the opinion thing. I normally gave my cotton a day after starting to get a burnt taste on coils unless it's on each drag consistently. I'll give it a fee more days and I think I'll run until it's a consistent burn so I know for future to replace after a set period of time. As for the mesh, it's far from gunked up at the moment so I don't see an issue with it nor the need to replace just yet. Between wick changes I'll give it a rinse clean anyway.

Just my guess, as i've had sort of a similar problem is to use less cotton make sure it freely moves between the ceramic plate and the underside of the mesh. If you are using the Wotofo cotton you need to get rid of about 1/4 to 1/3 of it lengthwise before wicking. Also seems to help to cut it at a 45 degree angle after you stuff it in the juice well from the outside edge to the edge of the coil if that makes sense. I've been using SS316 mesh and having to change cotton and coil about 3 weeks or so. You might need to change more often if you accidentally get a couple dry hits and cook the cotton too much.

Awesome, thank you, it's barely any cost to redo it tonight and investigate. And I agree, there is a LOT of cotton and my thought is that it's just now a solid lump under there and not very absorbant anymore, specially as I've been vaping stuff with sweetner in it.

My end stinks too but that just means I should take a shower sooner

Mesh is going to be like any other type of rebuildable coil - replacement/rewick etc will be unique to each user depending on how and what they vape and how often :)

Cool, had another burnt hit earlier, I can see some browning of the cotton on one side. If it's this soon to replace that chunk of cotton, I'll order more.

Thanks all! If anyone is interested in trying our the profile rda, I can't recommend it enough. Absolutely wonderful RDA.

I never can tell about mine, honestly. I do though have a process ensuring it doesn't become too stinky. Learned it best to bathe/shower as soon as I forget the last time I did so. That usually keeps the end clean enough to avoid getting those subtle "gawd ya stank!" looks from my wife.

Although she tells me my kind gonna stink no matter what anyway. I remind her my kind urinates on the trees her kind was born from. Fortunately, I keep her quivers and bows hidden from her. This only leaves her swords, daggers, bolos, boomerangs, blow dart pipes, maces, majik. Elves never use guns, it's one of their sacred rules.

So disclaimer, I wick with rayon. I have been cutting it a a 45 deg angle as described above. I was squonking it like crazy but was getting scorching on the short pieces on top of the wick nearest the mesh.

I started cutting it in an opposite direction. I cut the bottom half of the wick, closest to the deck, as short as possible. Essentially, as close to the spring loaded ceramic piece as possible.

I then take the top half of the tails that I left longer, and trim them so they will reach the deck. I tuck them in the sides to cover the short pieces, prime and vape.

This gets the liquid to the top of the wick much better for me, and eliminated my scorching problem. I think the longer bottom tails were sucking up all the juice, and not letting the short ones on top get as much. Or at least that’s my theory.
