So I want to have a intelligent conversation no name calling just views and opinions about our Current and past Commander in Chiefs.

How would you rate President Trump in supporting the military? Has he helped it or has he hurt the military?

I joined when Ronald Reagan was President and left when Obama was in office. Republicans always treated the military better than any Dem that was in office. We got better raises and better equipment to do our jobs. President Trump is doing a great job for the military IMHO.

I think Trump is doing a fine job. I was in with Bush Jr. For the card the man got delt I thin he did an awesome job. I still think Clinton was one of the worst because had he finished off what Bush Sr did with Iraq and Saddam we would have never had OIF.

I think President Bush Sr did a great job for the Saddam issue it's ashamed that Clinton screwed it up.

I didn’t like his comments about McCain being a P.O.W. and how he “wouldn’t have got caught”. One of his many stupid comments. Having said that he’s seems to be doing a fine job. Just wish he’d talk less, actions speak louder than words.

That is very true about President Trump.
I was floored today when I saw President Carter. I thought he passed years ago. I still think Hillary should be in Ft Leavenworth. Or she should have been convicted of treason and sent to gitmo. But most people just shrugged it off.

So the President convo didn't make it far. So let's change the topic.

Should we build a wall across the border?
How would you recommend funding it?

I think we should build a wall. There is a reason why the US has a process to become a citizen.
I would personally be willing to chip in a few bucks when tax time comes to help pay for it.

Former brief serving squid, length of service cut short due to no action of my own.

I think the idea of building a wall is plain out dumb. For one thing it will be circumvented by tunneling under, flying over. Those seeking illegal entry will find a way if they have a will to do so. Even placing soldiers there can be gotten around.

I concur we have a legal process and mean for folk to enter and it ought to be honored. That noted I also am aware there are cases where waiting on a sluggish bureaucratic is just not tenable. I do not condone the breaking of immigration law/s but can understand the motivations behind doing so at times.

To me it would seem the extra expense of a wall could be better spent going into Mexico and setting up say an immigration school. Create a welcoming means to immigrate that helps get rid of some of the overhead paperwork and red tape. You also get a registration process where you can further vest applicants seeking entry.

Please note I am writing against the idea, not anyone personally. I will also now be quiet as I've said all I feel competent saying. An opinion was asked and that's what I offered. I know my opinion might not be proved out as best or greatest, or correct. So it'll be what it'll be, an opinion.

Thanks for responding!
And your right this is supposed to be opinions and a discussion.
A lot of valid points especially about the tunnel under! I know the drug runners built a few long tunnels. Across the borders. Joke inserted here "flying over that would be awesome watching people on mid evil catapults flying over, like out of a Monty Python movie".
But ultimately the one comment hit the nail on the head! if they want to come into the country bad enough then there going to find a way no matter how the US tries to stop them from entering.
Thanks for responding.

Hmm,
I think President Trump is a business man, not a politician. Which I think the country needed as whole if not for a change but a learning experience for the country. As for Clinton well I think he is widlyw hated an. As for the VA becoming more privatized why do you think that is a bad reason?

Also thanks for the backing Intel you included in your post!

Trump a businessman? He's a shitty businessman, check out his history. His father would consistently bail him out like before he died would go in an buy millions in chips then walk out the door of his failed casino. Trump University, a scam MLM that ripped people off. Do some background checking and you'll see, he's a con man.

Well for Tump being a Successful business man I can't talk on because honestly I don't know enough about all of it to discuss it. As for the VA all I can talk about is my experiences. So far the private sector has been fairly good to me. But I do see where your going with it. Hey here is the new weekly topic.

I've had a good chunk of experience with the VA, professionally and personally. Professionally I set up a good chunk of their Computer security in the late 90's across the country. Then a few years ago my Father a Korean War Vet was in there for Cancer. Anyway they're hit and miss, there are some very good hospitals and there are some that suck which pretty much mirrors the private side also. The administration and paperwork is a nightmare, I'm retiring in a couple of weeks and need to get into the VA system myself, not looking forward to it.

Anyway as I pointed out there are basic things that are a cost for maintaining a Nation and it's a perversion to turn them into a for profit. Don't get me wrong, I'm a classic Reagan/Goldwater Conservative so I'm for small limited Government and pro business and trade, that's why I no longer classify myself as a Republican (GW Bush put the nail in the coffin for that). I miss the days when the Republican Party was pro business and for smaller government.

Tariffman aka Trump is doing a very good job of destroying what's left of the GOP and has shit on our economy big time. Tariffs, Americans pay them and the effects on the economy, well look at the stock market for one.

Couple of many articles about Tariffman's trade war, Trump hasn't a clue on how to be an effective businessman

Well let's see.... Trumps bussiness record I find much more acceptable then Hilary's bussiness record which consisted of running drugs for the CIA, out of Meena, swindeling working class people with her Whitewater scam, bullshit cattle future scam, taking the food out of the mouths of starving kids in Hati, sellling access to the goverment as she did during her reign as Secretary of State, or selling 20% of America's Uranium to Putin....if anyone is a fucking "mark" it is you....and if that is not enough the Clinton body count should make anyone with half a brain not vote for the bitch, as far as I know Trump unlike the Clintons hasn't murdered dozens of people.....as for Sanders....a Socialist with 3 houses...give me a break.

Never supported Hillary, my saying about the last election is when the system is a sewer that's what floats to the top.

This last election should be a massive wake up call for everyone, but unfortunately it won't be. Everyone will just continue to make excuses for one of the two major party's and nothing will ever change.

Not sure if the stock market fully reflects that because over the history of the Exchange the stock market goes up and down and periodically the market corrects itself.
By privatizing the portions of the VA system wouldn't it help boost the economy?

Also big congratulations on retirement! Can't wait to be there myself.

except that you go out of your way to ignore the glaring fact that BOTH major parties hate Trump, as well as the corporate globalist propoganda machine we call the media...as for Hilary...all democrats say they hate Hilary..except when it comes time to vote for her. Most people voted for Trump to keep Hilary out. Trump is not a member of either major party that is why he is being crucified. He was the only person running who was not a "proffesional politican", and owed no favors to the political class of either party

Haha the sewer comment. We need to fire everyone and start from scratch. There should also be term limits for all elected positions that I feel would eliminate a lot of problems.

Trumps Trade War is having a major effect on the economy and the Market, significant.

Like I said I don't support the privatization of the VA which would turn it into a for profit. Basic things like Defense and Justice System should never be turned into a for profit system. You think corruption is an issue now turning it into a for profit it would sky rocket.

Here's one of many examples of the effect of the privatization of some of our prisons

Yep, Pelosi, Boxer, Shumer, etc. are prime examples.

Government should NOT be a career, our founders never intended it to be. It's a civic duty but once we allowed them to establish their retirement accounts, vote for their own pay raises, special perks etc. We allowed them to create the American Aristocracy, here's what I say.
  • Eliminate their retirement
  • They must physically reside where they represent and not just maintain a house
  • They must actually be held accountable to the laws they pass
That's just a start

I love how you post stuff to back your opinions
Thanks, I try too for that's how one can actually have a civil and constructive discussion, basically I don't like just blowing it out my ass. ;) We all have opinions and showing why you have that opinion benefits the discussion.

I'm just curious you mentioned that Trump is hurting the economy. But jobless claims are down the stock market is up despite a couple of bad days, And Trump re-negotating NAFTA and other agreements to better America inithe global economy how is this bad?

Right Pulse that maybe but it allows us to see his position and allows us to see the information he is getting whether we agree with it or not. We all know the biasness that all media outlets have. We all "cherry pick" the info we need to back our views. That's what makes for good discussions.

Thing that needs to be done is if you don't like the source counter it with something reputable, not from like Alex Jones, World News Daily, etc. but actual reputable sources.

The media is the enemy of the people, it is owned by globalist corporations. If I mistrust Exxon, and Monsantos, why in the fuck would I trust the corporate media, they are owned by the same people. all media spins, but to say one spin is reputable and one is not reputable is bullshit.

Trump has said privately that he doesn’t want tariffs. He just knows how to strong arm China better than you. Your premature criticism of a tough negotiation that is no where near over is comical. Also, comparing privatizing prisons which incentivises locking people in cages isn’t the same as privatizing a hospital. Apples and oranges. Stick to offering opinions on vape shit.

As to privatization of the VA, well HMO's with Private Hospitals sure did a wonderful job, didn't they?

I’m just sick of politics and people constantly taking wild swings at a guy that doesn’t control near what most think. Guy asked about the va and here comes the trump bashing train. I’m still not sure what to think about the guy, but I am sick of hearing about him constantly and him taking center stage in every fucking conversation remotely related to politics.

Bottom line for me is I see how the government takes care of some of us while we’re an active asset. Not sure the best possible solution for our medical needs once we’re out is to have the government health care B squad handle it all. I would like to hear some well thought out alternatives at least.

Or whatever. I don’t give a fuck. Out.
