I’m REALLY clueless on vapes

Hello,

I hope some of you can help me out. I’m planning on buying my boyfriend a vape as a gift but I have no knowledge on which vape is good or not and yt reviews are not really helping. So far I have foundout there are vapes for amateurs/beginners to experts and idk which is best suitable?

My boyfriend used to smoke cigarettes a few years ago then stopped and started smoking w**d for a few years and now has stopped smoking that. Now he went to the military and he has a friend there who vapes and occasionally so does he. He mentioned that he’d like to buy a vape but I thought since his bday is next week i would buy one myself but I don’t want to ruin the surprise. When I would ask him what kind of vape he likes then he would know my intentions.

I thought about buying the Smok Majesty Carbon 225W, Smok X-Priv or iJust s Vape. Or what do you guys recommend?

And is a 6mg e liquid too strong or would thatbe too mild?

I want to buy him a proper one which he could use a good amount of time. Also he’s outdoors a lot due to military so I don’t want the vape to break easily or the battery life to be short.

also it’s my first time on this site so if this is not the right place for this post, im sorry.

IMO Smok is a bad choice the quality control is terrible. The Voopoo drag is pretty good much better than Smok. 3mg ejuice is the right strength for sub ohming

Being a military man I think he will appreciate the durability of the Geekvape Aegis Legend 200w or Geekvape Aegis 100w. They are both the most durable mods made being shockproof, waterproof, and dustproof. They are basically the same with one being dual battery (Legend) while the other a single battery (Aegis).
The 6mg juice is a question only your boyfriend will be able to answer. None of us can know how much nicotine he uses or needs but good luck to you. As others have stated avoid Smok mods, they pump out a lot of crap mods. He will really appreciate the Aegis mods durability.

As a bonus here is a good price on the Aegis mod-https://www.centralvapors.com/geekvape-aegis-tc-box-mod/?sscid=a1k2_sdsra
Use coupon code: vapecheap to bring price down to $39

Or for the dual battery legend here: https://www.centralvapors.com/geekvape-aegis-legend-200w/
Same coupon code: vapecheap brings the price down to $55
If you want more battery life this choice is the better of the two

Ps. You can get both these mods in camo colors!!

I second the Aegis. Probably the single battery 100w version.

Dual battery version may be too big and hefty.

I would think the dual just because I feel the battery life is better. The 200 isn’t really that much bigger and it feels better in my pocket than my my 100 does. But definitely an Aegis for military personnel.

The mod I'm using most of the time now is Tesla Invader 4. It uses dual 21700 batteries and only have been using a set of Golisi S35 batteries lasts a long time between charges but just ordered 2 Samsung 40T batteries. The S35 are 3750 mAh each and 40T is 4000 mAh each.

Aegis Legend kit and a couple packs of spare coils would be good. Let him resource the batteries and juice.

lots of good suggestions on gear. As for ejuice it largely depend on the size of the cloud. Bigger cloud has more nicotine than a smaller cloud even when using the same ejuice. SO.. buy him both a 6mg and 3mg. He will stick with the one he likes.

Agree on an Aegis Legend. I do not own one but have handled and used one. Water, dust, shock resistant. A solid choice. If he is stationed in a sandy, desert type of place the dust resistance is a must have. The tank that comes with the kit is okay, but I would get him a secondary. As well as batteries, charger, and extra coil heads. I understand these things can be difficult for deployed military to access. Just my opinion. Good luck and safety for yours.

Not doubting you, only saying this is the first I've heard/read that. Suppose it would make sense. Interesting. :)

I too agree with the Aegis Legend as a choice in mods. It seems to be a decently made piece of gear & durable.

Yep, consider.. larger cloud uses more ejuice, so more nicotine in larger clouds. Which is why you see m2l kits using 18mg and D2L at 3 or 6mg.
The nicotine in the ejuice remains the same, but you just inhale more ejuice in the larger clouds.

I would get him a pen style system with a tank. As other said stay away from Smok, the last tank I got from them went thru coils every week to every day and the mod lasted 3 months. As for the nic level it depends on what he smoked, if it was full flavor and a pack a day then go with 12, if it was lights and a pack or more 6-10, ultra lights six.. When it comes to "pen"style vapes I would go with a nunchuka, its durable, internal battery and the wattage is adjustable. When your in the military and you are not riding a desk you want less crap to carry around and keep up with. A sub ohm tank is probably the best bet and the good thing is the nunchuka is a kit with a tank.

Alright. I like doing restricted lung hits but as is known, I only use 18mg per ml nicotine. Never stopped to consider cloud size for nicotine. Guess I get more nicotine than I expected, using a Gorge with tight airflow set. I get some reasonably large clouds at times, even after inhaling and exhaling back out. I state it that way because I know some what take vape or smoke in their mouths but do not inhale. I inhale directly as drawing in, then wait a bit and exhale. Kind of like I was taught when smoking something else for brief bit.

For the OP, I think everyone has agreed to steer clear of SmokTech products. There was a time when Smok made halfway decent gear for use for seasoned vapers and beginners alike. It seems lately they have been really dropping the ball on their quality control. So, best practice is to not buy their gear until they start carrying their quality control better. Their wallet will alert them to having an issue.

@MyMagicMist I use 3mg nicotine. Any more and I get light headed. I generally vape at about 110w on 2 x 6 wrap fused clapton on a 3.0 mm id. So 2 big ass coils.
These aren't even huge clouds. I would use a mutationX rda for massive clouds.
coils are 2 catipillar claptons 0.3x0.8 ribbon wire wrap with 32ga kanthal from FastTech. About $4 for a 10ft spool.

No bragging just talking open about the vaping. I do what you're doing here roughly off a single strand of 24 awg Kanthal A1, single coil at 2 mm id reading out at around .50. I use mechs so probably 50 watts or lower as in according to voltage drop as the battery looses its charge with use. I use Wasps, Gorge, NaRDA, Dead Rabbit SQ, sometimes I might even throw something on a Goon. I do about the same with some consistency. Kind of taken up being a single coil guy. :)

I don't feel light head from it at the 18 mg/ml. I don't really want to say I get a nicotine buzz, I do though feel the general warming of the nicotine being absorbed. Might have a 10 to 15 minute vape session and then let mod/s set for a few hours or so, pick them up and do another session. It all depends on how anxious I'm feeling, mood, weather, all the same usual crap shoot which would make you want a cigarette. I might do a little chain vaping once in a while but I watch over doing that.

OH I pretty much vape constantly, though i do let it sit for hours at a time without vaping. The coil I use is a flavor build. You can pretty much get the same effect from a single core clapton. (not quite as good as a fused clapton, but still pretty decent.
Either way, nic really wont hurt unless you start drinking ejuice right from the bottle.. toxic level is 600 to 1000mg so at your 12mg you would need to drink a full 50ml bottle to hit min toxic level. Higher nic doesnt taste great from the bottle.. burns like a SOB so would be a real task to swallow.. in other words, you would have to try deliberately to poison yourself.

I hear that but consider @chopdoc has posted a link to an article about some numb skull vaping Tide Pods. *chuckling, smh* Can agree we just need to remove the warning labels. I'm always getting a little of the 18mg/ml base I use on my hands. Always wash up right away too, I eat, I prep food for wife, I got a little dog that likes cuddling up close. I know that such a small amount on myself like that is not too great a risk. Don't think I want to drink juice from the bottle --- less to vape then. :)

I can do up some basic fused Claptons. Waiting onsome wire from TEMCo. I'm not getting too upset over a delay as it is a holiday and my last order from them got here a week before my payment to them cleared. *chuckles* One of their reps in reply to me, "we know where ya are, we know you're good fer it, just remember we know where ya are." It's like I keep where I live a state secret. *grin*

As a newbie, I've tried a Smok Majesty Carbon 225W and it wasn't too much good, I'll tell you for sure. However, I was too busy to buy something better and used what I got. Now after an operation, I'm not sure how it'll influence on me. I have a face plastic operation surgery (making it through here https://plasticspot.io/), almost all the day lying in bed, waiting for the second operation. How do you think, should I smoke, or it will cause bad on my health?

Yes, smoking commercial or roll your own tobacco cigarettes is detrimental to anyone's health. This has been proved quite often by various sources, most respectable and having integrity.

You can get a fairly decent vaping starter kit for $60 or less now. What you want to look for imho will be something that you can sub ohm. Many suggest newbies avoid sub ohming due to it being risky. Well, I think sub ohming provides a better vaping experience and if a newbie uses a regulated mod then risk is minimized. It is worth sub ohming to start out imho, it will help you acclimate better to vaping.

As for what tanks? Well, I'll suggest an RDA. The Gorge does quite well for me & is easy enough to build on. A person can buy some pre-made coils to drop into the Gorge and do a great job of vaping, I do. If you don't want to go the route of squonking you don't need to do that. The Gorge comes with a standard dripping 510 connector pin.

Any decent variable wattage regulated mod ought to be able to back the Gorge well enough. I would suggest something with swappable batteries but there's some with internal batteries that do just as well. I would guide you toward any Innokin mod product as they keep producing very good quality mods at reasonable costs to consumers. They seldom have any issues noted. Aspire is also a good choice for a mod but you might pay a little a more, some say it's worth it, some say it's not. You'll need to figure that out for yourself.

The main point is you need to get away from commercial tobacco cigarettes as soon as you can. If you switch out smoking cigarettes for vaping and using nicotine in your vape, it still safer than cigarettes. Cigarettes If I recall my reading correctly have over 40,000 known toxins added to them. You can vape using only one to three toxins, or none if you choose.

I do hope you choose to give vaping another try. :)

I'm having superb results from a Smoant Naboo kit then adding the Wotofo Faris as a rebuildale atty. The tank with the kit is awesome and the mod itself is super. The Faris will being in much better flavors but you have to learn to rebuild, save that one for a tad later.

If you smoke the stinkies try a higher nic level like maybe a 12mg. Then adjust from there. If you are inclined to smoke on a 12mg or even vape allot of juice then up the nic. If you feel lightheaded on a 12mg then drop to a 6mg. Myself I am on my second time around. First time I went from 18mg to 12mg then to a 9mg. This time went with both 12mg and 6mg. I tend to stick with a 12mg during the day and go to a 6mg at night. 0mg if you are a non-smoker.
I run a 70/30 blend. I'm about to start with making my own juice in which I'll drop to a 80/20 more than likely due to a PG reaction. Lower ohms vs higher? I like a good .2-.5 depending on the atty. That's going to be your taste there.

Hope this helps out! :)
