Anyone had vapers tongue for over a month?

Hi, I started vaping just a couple months ago. Quit smoking after a pack a day for 10 years. I loved it, but a month ago I suddenly couldn't taste a thing in my juices except menthol. This was on October 18. I can still only barely taste any juice that isn't menthol. I'm going crazy. It's been more than a month.

My question for you all is have any of you experienced this for this long and then recovered? I've tried every trick in the book. I've read lots of posts online from people who also have long term vaper's tongue, but they never post when, or if, they get their taste back. I just want some piece of mind and know that other people who've had this have indeed recovered after some time. I'm really quite desperate.

That really sucks. I haven't had it nearly that long before, and you're right, no one ever reports back from long bouts. I'd like to tell you time heals, but damn, over a month is a long time!

I hope you get some helpful replies. I can only imagine how tiring that is for you.

I have had this thing where I taste the eliquid great at first but about 10 to 20 puffs later it's just like i'm blowing warm air out.
It's like I get used to the flavors very quickly then my body "adjusts" to where I can no longer taste it.

I think I have found maybe 5 or 6 eliquids (besides menthol) in the entire 6 1/2 years I've been vaping that doesn't do it.

I just thought I was weird (In more ways then I was already;))

Menthol always has and always will taste to me like i'm huffing vicks vapor rub:facepalm:

Welcome to VU and congrats on being death stick free for over a month. Thats huge.

Right now you are going through all kinds of transitions, so realistically your body may be in a state of shock from not being repeatedly poisoned by cigarettes. As an ex menthol smoker, then menthol vaper for a very long time; it has been my experience that some of the menthols and menthol flavors can be a bit overwhelming to the senses. There are many that have been tried over the years where they literally just lingered around on the tastebuds for hours.

What liquids are you vaping, what strength and what are you vaping it in?

I’m new to vaping too, just about 3 months now. What kind of device are you using? I had no idea what flavours really tasted like until recently. I was using a vape pen, and i thought a lot of juices were either really bland, I had some form of vapers’ tongue, or my tastebuds were just that fried from smoking. Turns out, I just needed a decent tank and mod. I can taste all kinds of things now, even pick out different notes in juices through the inhale and exhale. Maybe this is you as well? Some of the juices I once thought were pretty good, are just really strong and very sweet. And juices I thought had almost zero flavour, are actually really complex and tasty.

I suspect that in time it will be determined that some ingredients in flavorings used in eliquid will cause 'vapors tongue' in some people but not all and the effects will vary due to differences in peoples physiology, etc.

I've had that happen. I like my certain homemade juice but need to switch up to different flavors now and then to refresh the pallet.

I had it the last few days, same flavor. I switched last night, took care of that. beer doesn't hurt either.

I found that vaping a strong citrus flavor, like lemon or lime, cleans my vaping palate.

Still, some flavors I can't taste. I tried Mega's Blueberry Crisp when i first started vaping and it was the best blueberry I'd had.
Went back to it a year later and could barely taste the blueberry. Dunno if it was vaper's tongue or if the new bottle was leaking in flavor compared to the other one.

I got vapers tongue regularly when I first switched to vaping. I think it was because I was vaping all the time to get through the cigarette pangs. I got a second hardware setup, put different juices in both and vaped them alternately, couple drags from one, then a couple from the other. I found I could vape as much as I wanted to when doing that without any issues.

That was over 6 years ago. These days I vape the same juice ~98% of the time and don't ever get vapers tongue. Of course I don't chain vape anymore, or anywhere close to that. My most satisfying vapes are after not vaping for a couple of hours. Flavor and TH just pop then :)

banaar, it will pass. Hang in there, do what you can to get past it and give it time. You'll figure it out and you will succeed
