Question about squonk bottles and fingernails

I've just started with squonk mods over the past couple of weeks. Going ok, getting accustomed to it.

But now I have noticed something that worries me.

I tend to squonk the bottle with the end of my thumb. I don't have really long nails, but there is a nail there with something of a sharp edge to it. If I continue to push into the bottle with my thumbnail, am I going to eventually slice it open?

I even tend to think that no matter if I use my thumb or any one of my fingers, that bottle is going to be exposed to edges of nails with varying degrees of sharpness.

The bottle that is particularly worrying me is a harder plastic, not a silicone bottle. I'm not as concerned about the silicone ones, although perhaps I should be.

It's gonna be stupid looking if I have to grab a damn pencil to squonk my mod.

Anyone?

One of the many youtube reviewers with disgusting nails is what I thought about when I saw this but I could see the issue for a woman.

I guess you will need to squonk in a way that your nail is not digging into the bottle if you find that the bottles are getting damaged... or get a squonker with the squonk window in the front or back instead of the side.

I've never had a bottle fail due to a fingernail "cut".I use the pad of my middle finger to squonk and I don't constantly trim my nails to the quick. Maybe @JuicyLucy can help from a lady's perspective.

And @Heartsdelight comes to the rescue. I totally forgot about you being a squonker.

Thanks for responses everyone. Sounds like retraining is in order.

I don't currently squonk, but this does raise an interesting issue for if/when I do start squonking... which is entirely possible. My nails are sometimes short, but usually quite long (they grow much faster since I quit smoking!), and they're TOUGH -- my left thumbnail could be a serious weapon, as it curves in 2 dimensions, making it amazingly strong and hard to break... I could easily imagine piercing a soft squeezable bottle, if there was any kind of edge or point to it. However, given that I always fire my mods with my thumb, it would be my first or 2nd fingers doing the squonking, and I don't *usually* let them get too long, it makes typing quite fumbly.

That's why I asked the question. My thumbnails aren't all that long right now, but sometimes they are, and they are the strongest nails I have. But even when they aren't very long, they have sharp edges.

I think probably what I will end up doing is pressing the squonk bottle with the pad of the index finger on my other hand.

One reason I don't squonk is because I'm not too sure about the 2 squonk mods I have, though the dripbox 160 is more favorable to me, since I got used to the size and weight of the Aegis. I think I ended up squonking that one with the inside of the first knuckle of the thumb -- the bony ridge just below the pad of the thumb -- as I move my thumb up to press the fire button. Always have used my thumbs to fire my mods, ever since I started vaping, so it would feel very awkward to try and change that.

I'm gonna validate your question. I am a guy. I don't have long nails. I HAVE seen thumbnail "scratch" occurring on stiffer bottles, and I did have ONE bottle fail - it was the stock Pico Squeeze bottle.

Basically, it should not be a BIG issue - but it's a good idea to source replacement or BETTER bottles anyway. Any mod that comes with a stiff plastic bottle may benefit from a new softer silicone bottle - depending on your preference of course. Me, for instance - I don't MIND those Pico Squeeze bottles - they aren't soft, but also aren't real stiff or difficult to squonk - and I got a batch of 10 for a couple buck a long time ago.
Since then, of course, I've been running one for like 16 months without an issue - but I'm prepared, lol.

I did discover last night that Wismec has now come out with a silicone bottle for the Luxotic BF...BUT...the mod I got is a nice black resin on one side, just a few swirls of color in it but very subdued, and the bottles come in, get this, white, purple, amber, and loud-ass green. Now if I was vaping a loud-ass green mod, I wouldn't mind that, but I'm vaping a really sleek-looking black mod. WTF? Reviewers also say those bottles are really thin.

On the flip side, reviewers also say that those Luxotic BF silicone bottles fit the Pico Squeeze. That's if you can use one of those godawful colors.

it was the stock Pico Squeeze bottle

Those tend to split at the seems regardless of fingernails - but they are super cheap
