I received the Serpent elevate a week or two ago directly from wotofo for this writing. The following is an account of my experience with this tank.

The Serpent Elevate was designed in conjunction with Matt from “Suck My Mod.” It is the latest rendition of the collaborative effort that is the serpent series. I have had the first two serpent tanks; and, still use the serpent mini; however, I do not have the previous SMM version. The elevate is a huge advancement over the Serpent Mini.

Included in the package:

The RTA with straight glass tube
Coil trimming tool (not included in sample pack but will be in retail version)
510 driptip adapter -flush fit so all 510s fit nicely
PMA bubble tube
User manual
2 clapton coils (28+38x9+28+36 @3mm ID 0.33ohm)
Extra o-rings
Extra post screws(flat head stock are Allen head)
3mm laced cotton strips (2)
2 810 driptips
(1 acrylic wide bore tip- 9mm bore. 1 smoked, shallow bore 4.8mm bore)

Upon opening the package you are met with the above list of parts. I have to say, I was immediately blown away at the build quality of the rta; as well as, the pre-packaged accessories. What can I say, the satin finish is pretty sexy in my humble opinion. Gone is the high polish finger print magnet that are most tanks of yester-year. It comes with a nice media blasted finish in your choice of colors from black, gunmetal. Blue, ss, gold and rainbow. The one pictures is the SS. Out of the box you can expand the juice capacity with the included pmma bubble tank from 3.5 ml to 4.5ml. Not only are you able to expand the juice capacity; but, you are also given the ability to give the tank a slightly different look. I don’t use tanks much; due to my propensity to breaking glass. This tank is ideal for a person like me. I have already dropped it a few times. Thankfully I was using the PMMA tank; which, did not break under my recklessness. The glass tube would have certainly shattered. The tank is 24mm at its base, with the bubble tank it extends out to 27mm. It is 35mm high excluding the 510 pin and driptip.

To fill the tank, you unscrew the top and are met with two large kidney wells and a space for spillage. The design lends itself to be mess free in the event of spillage

As you can see the top airflow ring, has decorative knurling, made to resemble snakeskin. I’m not so sure how much it resembles snakeskin, but I do like the look of it. The airflow ring also has stopping points in both directions to avoid free spinning. The o-ring tension of the airflow ring, as the rest of the tensions, are ideal. It gives the ring a high-end feel; and ensures that it wont accidently move out of the set position under normal use. The airflow has two slots on both sides which then travel down the bell to the deck and then turn to go under the coil as well as the bottom side of the coil. The diagram below was supplied by wotofo’s website and will illustrate the airflow far better than I can describe here.

upload_2018-11-8_22-53-47.png

For another view you can see on the deck where the airflow comes in to meet the coil.
upload_2018-11-8_22-54-57.pngupload_2018-11-8_22-55-10.png

I find the airflow to be ideal for a restrictive direct lung hit. About what I would expect from a good single coil RTA. I was thankful to find the flat head post screws for the postless deck in the spares bag, and changed out the installed grub screws in the post I was using.

In the coil cutting tool, it is advised to use the 5.5mm cut slot, it looked like I cut my legs between 5mm and 5.5mm after trial and error to find the right height. As you can see I mounted the coil just above the recurve inspired side wall.

upload_2018-11-8_22-56-13.png

As in the recurve, the postless deck also offers you the convenience of allowing your legs to face any direction you would like for an easy build deck.

One thing I did need to figure out was the wicking. I have never used a tank like this, with the deck suspended above the base of the tank. What I discovered was that, because the wick is capillary dependent it is best to comb out the wick and slide the wick through the wick ring, and have it suspend in the juice well without touching the floor. This method proved to be best as I did not experience any dry hits, flooding or gurgling. Just a constant well fed coil for consistent vapor and flavor production.

cont....
This tank does have a very reduced chamber, since it doubles as both an airflow channel and vapor chamber. The design tends to lend itself to produce a very flavorful tank with all of my juices. I was especially pleased to see myself getting a very satisfying vape out of 40-45 watts rather than the 70-90watts I have become accustomed to. This makes the Elevate a great tank for on the road or later at night when I don’t feel like reaching for a dripper.

upload_2018-11-8_23-0-34.png

As you can see the inner wall of the chamber and threading show the workmanship and machine work on this rta to be fantastic. The dimensions of the chamber are 12mm high x 16mm wide. The coil placement is elevated to 10mm. Clearly, the numbers show the condensation chamber to be extremely tight, which is what lends itself to be the little flavor machine that this is. It does seem to produce the best combination of flavor and vapor with the airflow cut down to about 2/3 open.

For the mech and hybrid users- yes this is hybrid safe with a positive pin having an ample protrusion.

upload_2018-11-8_23-1-21.png

To the question of what do I think.. I realize most of my article could be said to be gushing.. Maybe I am just a bit. I cant say it enough, for me this tank is a home run.

I get a great satisfying vape at a relatively low wattage, I get to conserve battery life and run a single cell mod, the flavor is fantastic, it’s easy to build and wick, durable and it looks like a higher end tank. It takes any 810 driptip, or 510 driptip, with the flush mount drip tip adapter. Can hold 3.5 ml of juice with the straight glass tube or 4.5ml of juice with the pmma bubble tube. It has ample smooth airflow for a restrictive direct lung hit. I have thoroughly enjoyed this for a nice relaxing and satisfying vape.

Downside?

I can not really find one, except to say that you wont be running cloud comps with this, like the reload rta. However, I doubt that is the intended audience. If you are running a subohm tank, or looking for a nice restrictive lung hit with flavor and vapor, are looking for a tank that you can conservatively run a battery one; and get great performance … this is your tank.

The glass bubble tube is why I'm going to go ahead and order this one, definitely in my preferred rta style.
Great write up, confirmed why I thought the Elevate might be a good fit for me. Thanks.

just saw that vapordna has them, unfortunately black is already gone.
I saw that, thanks. Heart found it on Efun.top USA cheaper but the color option was messed up yesterday. Haven’t checked back in today. If you didn’t know Code DNA5 will get 5% taken off your cart at VaporDNA. At efun.top USA code US5S is worth 5% off.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience with it.
My first impressions are the thing is freakin' gorgeous, the machining and fit are excellent. I swapped out the black drip tip for the included translucent tip. Now even more badass and stealthy. Building on the deck is simple although large or hot builds don't seem to work...Wicking is a story in itself and will take some practice, when all is said and done this thing is a flavor monster (or Serpent)....

Good to hear. Already have a coil picked out for it. Thanks. Mike Vapes usually nails wicking so I'll try his recommendation first.

Have been hearing that but all say it's worth it once you dial it in and find the sweet spot.
Am on forth build now.
1) incuded 3mm .33 NI80 framed stapled clapton and cotton .... did not like taste.
2) 4mm .13 ohm ss316L framed stapled clapton w/ bacon prime....too big, extreme heat due to clearances.
3) 3mm .38 ohm SS316L twisted clapton w/bacon prime......first try spaced coil no flavor , eventually crimped the coil tight and that was best so far,,
4)3mm .15 ohm SS316L triple core fused clapton w/bacon prime.....still in progresss

Think I'll go with a 3mm ni80 interlock fralien from WPMac. If not that my standard 3mm ss tri core fc.

the 3mm trip core did not work well. just put in a 3mm ss fused clapton at .3 ohms. ... working better, never had to work this hard on a build.

Have yet to find a rta the tri core doesn’t work with. Did you try 2.5mm yet.

I wick mine similar to mike vapes. Only
Difference is I cut the wick even with the threads and in a v shape.

No issues once I got that nailed
50w will let me run it all day on one battery.. so worth it

No worries, sorry I was late to the party.
The tank has become a go to for me do flavor when dripping is not practical.

Thanks for joining the party. It seems that there is a fine line between too much or too little cotton.

I agree, it’s not the most forgiving. It really relies on capillary action.

It reminded me of a lot of the older tanks, maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Wicking was almost an art to get done properly

This is like that, but once you’ve got it down, you are well rewarded.

The problem I am having is that to get enough cotton to fill the slots I have too much in the coil.

Try using a 3mm internal diameter coil..
Nothin overly nuts, I use either dual core 28g Clapton or quad core 30g

I cut it with broad shoulders and thinner tails and comb it out well before cutting

I also done run it over 50-55w typically

Another thing to consider is juice viscosity.

I can’t vape anything thicker than 40pg/60vg.

Thin out the wick tails a little but more than the top
