A micro singularity burned out the flux capacitor in my DSL modem.
And NO one within 60 miles of here stocks them any more.
Only the cable and VDSL modems.
I am just living in the digital past I suspect.
I have the DSL stuff too, but given that the phone company whose wires I use is also my ISP, in the event my modem enters chaotic space, they will merely materialize a new one.
Not here in Bell south territory. And they are my isp as well.
Well they will for around $150 for a $60 modem/router combo. Plus a service call since the problem was in my equipment.
They give you the original router/modem combo but do not replace it for free if it fails.
I did have to resort to calling their tech support and talking to an indian sounding Derrick
He was quite helpful but worked off of a script as do virtually all help center staff.
I had no idea what the VPJ and VCI values should have been set to nor even a clue as to what they are for.
But dumped the settings to hard copy once I got it going. And put it in my DSL folder in my file cabinet.
And ordered 2 more modems since motorola is not longer making them.

Sorry I disappeared for so long. I was downloading program updates from Microsoft and they fucked up my computer, so I had to do a system restore. Gawd only knows what all they managed to screw up. But I'm going to bed now and I'll try to fix it all tomorrow.
