So the install was pretty wonky, too - I didn't realize the center holes were closer together than the outside ones. But this is definitely a butterface build - she ain't pretty, but boy does she put out! Like, I may need a lower nic level for this.

LMAO!! This whole page has been ... well ... a page turner :sneaka:

I wont bombard you guys with a million pics ... cause no matter how many angles you put on this thing it looks almost the same ... And while some color showed up here and there, it didn't pop at all.
So here's just one pretty pre-fire shot!
13 ply .3 KA1
28g Ni80 frame
36g Ni80 decore
.3 KA1 stitch
3.5 wraps on a 4mm ID but it was pretty springy ... so it's probably more like 4.25mm ID
.19 ohms
spits like a S.O.B.
But after the initial shower it's not a half bad vape. Thought it would be terrible. So, while it wont stay in the atty long, I'm pleasantly surprised!
I want to call it an armadillo. Looks more like an armadillo than a hedgehog ...

When I press and hold on the pic and open it in a new page it's a lot better pic. I do everything BUT wind my own specialty wire. I'd start a fire with the glasses I'd need to see that fine hair, I mean wire. If I start doing that as well you might be hearing about me on the evening news because I'm sure I'd get pissed off to the highest point of pissativity before I got it right. Fine work. My hats off to you.

I have a set of 4x jewlers goggles I use for most things. But honestly 36 isn't bad on the eyes. And I have terrible eyes. Raymo has been working with 50g+ ... this shit doesn't even register in my vision lol
And thank you verry much!

You're quite welcome. I'm farsighted so that doesn't help. And 50ga? Or higher? That'd be like trying to wrap a spiderweb.

One of the craziest lessons we learn in our coilsmithing experiences is how little being able to see matters. It really is all in the angle and the tension, and it’s much easier when you’re not looking at the spinning wire. I stare at the angle and rhythm of the fuse wire. Our neighborhood master @raymo2u has shitty vision and doesn’t use magnification. But let’s also heed his advice about wire gauges.. it’s definitely a possibility that a hot spot could throw some 50g+ wire pieces into our lungs. That stuff practically vaporizes when it glows.

Building big staples is one reason I switched to nic salts hehe

Oh it happens, some people throw spools or pliers across the room, I heard one guy even threw and broke his drill...I usually just let colorful words fly but I have thrown a lot of wire away

I can only imagine at this point. When I was learning dual and triple round wire parallels I found out really fast that screw posts weren't my friend. So thinking about building aliens and the sort has me a little hesitant. I will start soon though. Clapton's will be first of course.

From your introduction post, I think you may fall in love with it and end up being really good at these kinda builds. It's been a major part of how I've stayed sober and (relatively) sane for the last year.

I believe only mostly hobbyists could understand this. I'm going to clear out one of my bedrooms completely and build a work bench all the way around the room. A vape cave if you will.

There's a fad going around IG right now with "indented builds". Whipped one up but I need some input. Considering inlaying a 2 core 32/42 alien in the indent. I'm concerned about ohms atm. It's currently going to run .11-.12, without the inlay. Any thoughts on the matter?

hiya people new starter on the site been vaping for around 6 month now and wanting to build a rta do I need a ohm meter before I can make one ive got everything else thank you
VVV This down here VVV
It helps, but a good regulated mod works too!

I've been building, to some degree or another, for like 4 years or something like that. I got a crappy ohm meter in my first cheap builders kit. Never used it. A good quality regulated mod has worked just fine for me for years now.
PLEASEPLEASEPLEASE make sure you have SOMETHING to check your ohms before trying to fire/vape a build.
