Single Coil RTA

Hello everyone, new to the site. I have read reviews, watched numerous review videos and asked so many people in reference to RTA's. I like decent cloud or vapor production. However, I'm more into the flavor chasing, the more I can taste it the better. I've only been doing sub-ohm tanks with replaceable coils. I really want to get into the RTA realm and start out using the pre-built coils for the deck, until I feel comfortable and learning how to make my own coils in the furture. Anyways, the two single coil RTA's I've narrowed my search down to is the OBS Engine Nano and the Augvape Intake. I really like the top airflow for the no leak or less likely to leak tank. I know wicking is a major key as well. My problem is everytime I try to search for either the OBS Engine Nano or the Augvape Intake, everywhere is out of stock. Also, the OBS Nano is no where to be found, especially in black. I did find some Nano's in Canada but they do not ship to the US, which really sucks.

Just wanted to get some other opinions out there. I really am more interested in more of a no leak tank and great flavor. I've always heard that single coil RTA is more for flavor than a dual. But what do you guys or gals recommend, especially for someone just getting into the RTA arena but more for flavor.

I appreciate all the advice.

The Engine is older and may be tougher to find at some sites. As for the Intake, it just came out so it may be tough to find. Not everyone has even gotten it in stock for the first time yet. The Intake will be my next RTA, it's receiving great reviews and looks awesome!

I’ve got the nano and I think it’s a really good rta. Pretty simple to build and wick. Good flavor and vapor. It also doesn’t get hot like some do. When I first got it I tried chain vaping it to see if I could get a dry hit and had to stop before it did. I think my vapor store still has them. I bought two of each. Black and stainless.

Thank you, yes I've now realized after some research that the Engine has been out and is tough to find. The Intake from what I've seen is mostly pre-order.

The nano is out on ebay, averaging $34 and limited color.

The Intake is mostly Pre-order anywhere I've seen it.

Thank you PoppaVic, that's what I've ran across is the limited colors, like gold, blue or rainbow. I guess the black is popular and hard to find. The Intake is mostly pre-order too from what I've seen so far.

Thank you Papachaz, yeah I really had my heart set on a black OBS Nano just really impossible to find nowadays. I've heard nothing but great feedback on this product. Does your shop still carry the black nano? If so, maybe you could pm their contact info, I would be interested if they could ship direct / pay via phone or through their site.

OBS discontinued production on the engine nano so what little is left is all there is to choose from, unfortunately. Glad I picked up my nanos last year when I did.

As others pointed out, the intake is just coming out so it won't be too long before interweb stores start stocking them. I think Mike vapes said myvpro would be carrying them soon.

While it was a tricky bugger to wick at first, I've really grown to like my Zeus single coil. The flavor is on par with my engine nanos but the airflow design does a great job of surrounding the coil with air and the airflow is smoother and quieter than the engine nanos.

Looks like rainbow or gold only at my vapor store.com. You could also check in the hardware section here and see if someone is selling one. Maybe post a want to buy there.

Yep. I won’t order from element vape any more because after two years of ordering from them they want me to send a pic of my drivers license. I don’t think so.

Just to throw another single coil rta in the ring, the new Vandy Vape Revolver rta looks nice. Daniel from DJLSB vapes has a video on YouTube. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I believe Vapordna has them, here’s a coupon for $10 off any $35 purchase if anyone is interested. http://vapordna.refr.cc/ZX78NMG

Thank you. Yeah I watch RipTrippers do a review on the Vandy Vape Revolver. It looked interesting. I went ahead and pulled the trigger on the Intake by Mike Vapes to give it a try.

Do report back on how you like the Intake RTA as I’m interested as well. BTW where did you order the Intake from?

Found it at AliExpress but it will ship from China and most likely take awhile to arrive. But I found another place at https://eciggity.com/ located in Hawaii that had the Intake in black and used online coupon code TENOFF for 10% off. Being that its shipping from the US, it won't be an issue arriving in a timely fashion.

Yeah, once I try it out I'll post my thoughts on it.

Yeah, I found it for under $34 out of KY - screw it. I need a single with looser airflow. Tired of suffering really RTL.

I'll be posting soon with the contents of my PIF bag and see what I can sell off. Maybe I can cover the costs anyway.

Well guys, the Intake arrived and as a newbie, I watched Mike Vapes video on the Intake so I could set the coil and wick properly, being this would be my first time using this kind of setup. I got a little spit back at first but after I resolved that issue, man it is real nice. The airflow is smooth, great vapor production and flavor is on point. I was skeptical at first being that I really go for flavor, so I loaded the Intake with my new custom flavor juice that was made from the local shop I use and SHITE, that flavor was popping. The flavor I was getting off this RTA versus a regular sub ohm tank was like night and day. LOL, I kept toting on this RTA like a crack addict...lol. I am definitely impressed with the Intake, especially being that this is my first RTA. I won't go back to sub ohm regular coils, i.e. for my Prince Tank or Vapresso Cascade after experiencing the RTA realm. These tanks will be put on the shelf now as a backup only as this RTA will definitely be used on a daily basis. Definitely impressed, highly recommend if you're looking for a single coil, top air flow RTA.

No problem. LOL! It's happening. Now that I've fallen into the rabbit hole, I'm wanting to learn more about coil building. I chewed tobacco for just over 20 years and when I quit and turned to vaping, my goal was to obviously get off tobacco for my health with a safer alternative but also save money. I actually told vape shops that I was looking into different regulated mods with features that would allow me to expand eventually. At first, my plan wasn't to buy different things but now I find myself looking at so much that at times can be overwhelming. However, the vaping industry is so fascinating to me because there is array of information on a huge spectrum depending on what you want to be at as for as your need. I definitely love it and have converted a lot of my friends and coworkers off tobacco.

That’s the unexpected bonus of vaping, of course the health benefits but this wonderful community but like many it’s also a hobby, from coil building, learning about batteries, mods, atties, etc! Welcome again!

Thank you Heartsdelight. I'm still fairly new to vaping and new to the forum but I've learned so much here in the forums. Definitely appreciate it and thank you again.

I’ve found myself going back down the rabbit hole... lol. Wanted to get some personal opinions of bottom air flow RTA’s that in your opinion give extremely great flavor. I’ve looked at so many video and have read so many reviews. Pretty much can’t really decide. Now that I have a top air flow, would like to add a bottom air flow.

Well, someone in Hardware has a Batchelor X for sale - that's a single-coil, bottom-air tank.

I picked up an Elfy (by Coil Master), which is damned tiny - but a little tighter than I love.

I'd get the Batch-X, if I didn't now have 2 generations of Engine Nano.

I have the zesthia as well - I also have a few smm’s. The zesthia is far better in terms of flavour and quality. Wicking is a bit harder but worth it.
I've heard the wicking can be tricky but not as fickle as the Kylin mini. I don't have the Zesthia but it looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to wick for a vaper with some experience with rtas.

What you’ve said is very accurate. It’s a bit tricky to get the right amount of cotton in the holes - it should fill them, not touch the bottom and have a bit of room so it’s not packed in too tight. Otherwise, you get leaking and vapor lock.

Kind of sounds like a damn method of wicking where there's a bit of space for below the wicks so the ends of the wicks are in contact with the juice in the bottom of the juice well which allows for juice to flow up to the coil easier. Is that somewhat accurate?

Oh man, the engine nano taught me so much about wicking and vapor lock! Took me a bit to learn that sometimes less is more with wicking.

I think I’m going to give the Serpent SMM RTA a try and see how I like it.
I think the Intake is MUCH better than the Serpent SMM! My Serpent SMM has been sitting on the sideline since I got the Intake. I realize appearance is subjective, but I think the Intake is the best looking RTA to date. The Intake is better in every other category as well

The Augvape InTake is a fantastic RTA! It is top-airflow which means you won't get leaking but it is possible to get spit back if your wicking is incorrect.

On the inTake, wicking isn't too difficult. It would take a few attempts depending on how you wick but once you get it right, you are going to have a great vape.

The build quality of the RTA is excellent. You won't be having any issues unscrewing anything or putting the tank together.

Overall, I would say Mike Vapes and Augvape have done an excellent job in designing this RTA. In my honest opinion, I find the inTake better than the OBS Engine Nano. If I had to choose between the 2, the inTake gets my pick and its what I'm using now.

That’s accurate except when I wick the nano, the cotton just enters the wick holes. The zesthia the cotton goes much deeper

I like Mike's reviews. The Intake looks OK to me - but "RTL". I got damned tired of people designing and then restricting shit.. The Wasp Nano forces me to close it down - FINE. Great. Can-do!

I cannot "open up" what won't open-up w/o resorting to drill and dremel. So, for me, The Engine Nano runs about 1/2 .. 2/3 open and I am satisfied.

I definitely like my Intake, since I’m new to the RTA area and still learning about coils and wicking. I figured why not start with something that as a beginner for bottom air flow and is some forgiving, then slowly graduate from there.

100% Agree with you with this statement. Wicking these RTAs are easy but wicking it 'properly' takes a few attempts and once wicked correctly, these tanks are great.
Absolutely. When wicked properly I get fantastic flavor from a 4mm coil. The nano does well with tobaccos but for me it really shines with fruits.

I wick my nano a little differently but maybe it's due to the larger 4mm coil. I thin the wicks by hand to help the juice flow upwards easier and to negate vapor lock. The deck gets minor flooding the first fill-up but after that I have no issues at at all. It's tedious getting it just right but worth it.
