Seal-a-meal vacuum for soaking Tobacco

I’ve never made Tobacco flavor PG ( or anything yet!). But I had an idea to try a “Seal-A-Meal “ jar in soaking the tobacco. This would create a vacuum that would theoretically quicken the soak and deepen the flavor. Has anyone tried this? Also ... this is my first post. Thanks. Steve

Theoretically the seal a meal would work... in practice I have no clue.

Welcome Steve

Not sure what your theory is there, but glad you joined us

When marinating meat the marinade time is greatly reduced in the vacuum. It penetrates further also. I had this idea, but thought someone else may have tried it. Is there a section that discusses homemade tobacco flavor that may give suggestions?

What juicy said
In particular look for NET

Vacuum is how they make Stabilized wood.
Suck all the air out of the wood and cause it to suck in resin.
Thank you. I figured it would be a good way to quicken the saturation!! I’m going to try that and I hope my suggestion benefits someone else ... or at least gives them a new avenue to explore. Hopefully with the wife’s blessing!!! Haha!

great idea, and I'd love to her your results, but the real challenge of making a NET extract has not been extracting flavor so much, but trying to find a way to filter out waxes and sugars from the extract and make the juice cleaner, and not such a coil killer.

I’m going to try a series of filters in succession. Maybe a screen for big particles , then a fine metal mesh coffee filter followed by laboratory filters. Some of those can remove particles as small as several microns. I’m speculating that it will be difficult to get a very clear liquid using one filter. The only problem I see is that a filter with larger particulates you will clog a filter designed to remove small particles. Thus you will need to do it in stages. Or use successive smaller filter

Filters are good for particulate matter but not so much for dissolved oils and such.

yeah usually people start there filterintg with a kitchen mesh screen, then coffee filter and then like 2 or 2.5 micron lab filters. filter in like 3 stages.
