I can understand that sentiment.
But for as long as people continue to live under the delusion that they can give government the "authority" to do things that do not have the moral authority to do themselves, I see enough difference between the two that I strongly prefer one over the other.
Giving up authority and freedoms for perceived security is a part of the human species.
Tribes, cities, religions, kings, governments, etc...
Few can handle being truly independent in either thoughts or lifestyle.
Many complain about the government, etc however they could not get along without them.
Humans are pack creatures.
