I am just stopping myself from buying another mod. Somebody please tell me that Dotmod squonk mod is a waste of money for $54 and I should not buy it

I've seen several reports of problems with the DotSquonk.

The issue is the same each time, there is a wire with red insulation that is soldered on to the metal part of the mechanical switch that makes contact with the squonk tube that protrudes down from the 510 and eventually goes into the juice bottle.

From the way the button works, the constant movement back and forth can cause the solder joint to the wire to come loose.

If you are handy with a soldering iron, and willing, it is an easy fix, but may require repeat repairs over the life of the mod.

@ $90 when first offered, this was a hard pass, but at $54 maybe it's worth it.

Maybe that loose wire issue was an early first-run problem that was fixed in later production runs, but I've not heard any follow-up reports specific to this mod or this issue.

I like the looks of the DotSquonk, but since I am always holding my mod in my left hand and mousing with my right, being right-handed, the squonk bottle is in the wrong place for me and different from my VT Inbox and Pulse BF that have the squonk hole in the same place that I can press with my middle finger of the left hand easily when I am thumb-firing.

I am nearly always thumb-firing all of my mods...

I'll pick one up.

First dibs on the Haku Venna when you're tired of it and ready:)

Its in the Drawer already lol

EDIT: Not that I don't like it, I really do, more so than the Haku Phenom, which coincidentally is also in the drawer lol... but I am vaping the Chi-NarDa and Le Concorde lately and BB. So Wicks pulled on them and in the drawer

Yeah. I'm almost tempted - but the wires soldered to the squonk-510 obviate a box-end.

OTOH, your mention of this kit - which I was glaring at over on MM and SV - made me go caliper the nut.. Caliper thinks it's anywhere from 12.7-12.95mm, so I think I need to find a cheapass, flat/skinny 13mm open-end. Thanks.

Tallying up solutions::
  1. One wrench
  2. @fq06 's Moddog Wrench solution - S&H is >2x more than cost
  3. @shawn.hoefer 's find (thin crescent)
  4. Set A
  5. Set B
As you might imagine, #1 appeals to the cheap in me ;-P

Yeah, you would have to resolder the wire back on.
Not sure you would have room for any of those wrenches listed. The MM wrench is not onny thin but it also is lacking girth so you can get a turn on the nut.

I saw another wrench that was like a key chain hanger offer thing. No kit, just a small double end wrench, can't remember who makes it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing (where the hell...?)

@fq06 - you did notice, (like all else on their site), no dimensions? Not sure what a MM atty uses.

OK, from https://www.modparts.co.uk/510-connectors/568-moddog-nano-510-wrench.html :
Spanner / wrench tool for fitting a Moddog 510 only
13mm wrench size
Thus endeth the lesson. Perfect for on the go, I think I need either Shawn's solution or a set for At Home.

Well shit I think I might have figured it out....my cap on the wasp is extremely loose..it comes right off with very little to no effort...I'm thinking maybe it's sucking air from between the cap and seals helping with that vacumme issue...guess I need to try a thicker seal and see if that helps but I doubt I'll just order some to try it...lol

This happens not only on the Wasp Nano caps. I note it happens on the Gorge cap, ChiNaRDA caps, Velocity style caps (even the glass ones), Goons. I put it down to condensation that naturally happens as the juice is heated to vapor then, cools in the chamber a cap helps create.

Yes, you get a vacuum going on but only as you draw on the vapor out the drip tip/chimney. This creates an RDA's own little ecological system, the juice draws off as vapor, condenses and rains back down into the well/wick until finally enough is drawn off you need to feed the well from the squonking. You see the ocean get drawn off and raining back down to the soil, water tables, streams, rivers, ponds, lakes then flowing back to oceans, seas.

Of course, I often connect dots where dots might not be, or forget dots altogether.

"Did you dare thumb your nose at me, sire?"
...
"How darest thou to make so light as to thumb thy nose at me!? Why, I should'st thumb thou eye out of its socket for such an offense!" *drops guantlet* "Pick it up, if thou darest, ..."

Please overlook this six foot high three hundred pound lump of flesh popcicle. I'm just having a jest. Seems one of those many little hamsters hopped off the wheel and caused a spring to come unsprung.

"Was it the same cat, or just one that looked the same?"

"I'm not sure. Why, is there a difference?"

"Well, lookie here! Oh I so love tornadoes! Hit me again baby!" (Odd pinball machine reference)

"Feel like a grizzly? Burma Shave!"

Damn it, next you know I'll be picking up radio Cuba. "Si, hombres ud est muy buen, ..."

I always find it hi larious in action movies, especially military types, you witness a soldier tossing a satchel charge ... "Fire in the hole!" No, you would never yell that out. Whoever you're trying to blow up would then know to catch it and throw it right back at you. Kind of like the whole hollering "Frag out" when lobbing a grenade.

Apologies for random stream of conscious. Will digress and go on me merry rambling to meself.

The delrin cap is extremely loose.

Hm, noticed that just now on the brass Wasp I've got. That still doesn't cause any issue for me, aside from noting it's a bit loose. *grin* But hey, some of my screws are loose too. ie, I once figure out breathing through my ears. That was until the, ... Duh du dun ... bubble bath.

SXK or CopperVape NarDa ;)

That is the RSA I like the most... Wish I could get a line on an authentic, even just the authentic deck. Heck I'd easily trade my Venna for just an Authentic deck, or my Haku + caps etc.

Ahhh ok...I've had that on my wish list at 3f vape...I suppose I need to just get it...lol

Ok built on the radar today. I'm gonna use it for good. Adjusted airflow to be in middle and it cut down on spit back. Running aliens from those cheapo packs. I've been using it all day and don't see a need to replace it. Will try my apocalypse on it though.

SRDA means Squonking Rebuild-able Dripping Atomizer. I think.
The iJoy combo comes with a bf pin in it, and a spare pin in case you want to use it as an RDTA. Being able to replace the 810 drip tip is a bonus, since so many squonker atties are made so you don't have that particular option.
