Today was "one of those days". You know the one I'm talking about, The one that makes you yell out loud " STOP THE WORLD, I WANT TO GET OFF!!" In any case, the cherry on the cake was finding out my Tab 521 must've had some liquid seep in the 510 so now it isn't working like it should. I turn it on and get a reading....before I put an atty on it:sad: Time to get a new one, what are you folks recommending?

It is frustrating. Getting both accurate and longevity in one is something that I have not found

My last order was placed on the 20th and i got it on the 29th. Seems to take just as long in the US as it does coming from another country. I think that's crazy. China to us 3 days, New York to North Carolina 4 days. Like wtf

They also have some green ones!
The question is: Buy the Fawkes for nearly $300, or the SXK "grape" for a bit over $100:wait:

if you remove the battery first and open it up, then using rubbing alcohol and q-tips or paper towels, you can likely remove all liquid from the inside, and once together again it will likely work just fine unless some circuit was hurt from the liquid

I cant see the procedure taking more than 15 mins if you go slow

rubbing alcohol evaporates quickly and does not really leave behind any residue and I use it all the time for cleaning electronics, as well as the 510 connectors on all my mods

cant hurt to at least try it, no?

3f has been dragging on my order for the 2 a-tanks.

Ordered on the 23rd, tracking showed it was at CHINA WAREHOUSE on 27th, no movement from there for 4 days.

I opened a ticket and after some back & forth with the cust svc rep, it finally moved from the warehouse to the shipper on the 31st, and status shows no movement since then...seems like they have problems getting them out of the warehouse...

All I can do is wait...

Very much appreciated advice, I thought about doing that. I may still do it later but for now, I'll just drink the alcohol and buy another ohm tester.....Just kidding with that last part, I just need to finish painting wife's kitchen and if she doesn't have anything else on the list (very unlikely) I'll clean the ohm tester.

Honestly, the SXK USB version really looks to be worth it if you don't mind waiting.

Cons of SXK:
Waiting
No hybrid drip tip besides JMK
Pros:
USB port
Everything else will work with it
PRICE

I had one of those 521 tabs... never worked right for me ever... got it in a bundle trade long ago. BNIB too. Tossed it in the trash soon after and used my DNA133(200) moving forward... 38k puffs on the counter... and I would wager 30k of them is from pulsing coils after I made them lol

I'm glad to help. I've never taken one of those apart, but have a fair amount of experience with electronics repair, so if you get stuck or need help, please dont hesitate to ask and I will do my best.

I picked up a cheap Eleaf ohm tester for $3 from some random site that had them on clearance, but prior to that was always verifying my builds on a regulated mod, rather than just relying on the guestimate offered by Steam Engine and firing a coil blind without testing it first.

Very seldom are my builds matching the exact Ohms given by Steam Engine, but usually with a 10% margin of difference, so I know that I have to verify before firing it.

Also, this cheap Eleaf meter I got, which runs on 2 AAs, sometimes is off by as much as 0.25 Ohms and is very picky about how tightly I screw down the atomizer, so it's more useful as a stable and low build-stand than a reliable Ohm meter.

My Eleaf Pico 75 and my Inbox v3 are often used for verification/comparison to the readings on the Eleaf meter.

The availability of the new SXK BB with the USB port is both good and bad timing for me.

I have been in conversation with nice person on reddit who purchased 5x of the previous gen SXK DNA60 rev4b clones direct from SXK, with the intent of keeping just one and selling off the other 4 to recover the cost and effectively pay for the one he is keeping.

I had made a deal with him for a brand-new in box Dober brown DNA60 clone ($125), a used Bastard Coil ($55), with a pack of notch coils ($free?), and a set of resin panels ($20) for $204 shipped. I received the tracking number this morning, and he is shipping from Altanta,GA so I should get it within a week to NJ.

My thinking was that:

- with my breaking the screen on my rat black clone, and thinking about not having a fully operable BB, with all the atomizers and tanks I've already invested, I cannot afford to be without a backup, yes I love the BB that much and waiting for the replacement screen from Evolv is quite painful to me now

- better to go with the devil I know rather than to roll the dice as an early adopter of the new version, which could have issues, that will not be revealed until later on

- the price of the whole package deal is likely to not come up again, and within that deal, the Bastard Coil effectively cost me only $55, and after chasing one for months, have never seen an opportunity to grab one anywhere near this price.

- having already been inside the BB and seen the area where the DNA60 board is, there really is not enough room for the Evolv DNA60 Data/Charging board, so whatever SXK has put in there, seems to me that corners have been cut, and again, I dont want to take a chance on that

- connecting to Escribe is not something I've ever had to do more than once or twice to upload material settings or change profiles, and I already have a dongle I made for this, and it's not a big deal for me to remove the 4 torx screws that cover the board area on the button-side of the device and plug in the wire leads

- as a matter of personal integrity, after talking with the kind reddit person for a while (going back to 2 months ago when he placed the order from SXK and asking for dibs on one unit), were I to back out of the deal on the last day before we exchanged info for PayPal, I'd feel like a real jerk and utterly crappy for leading him on, just to chase the new 'shiny' that came out

- I am pretty happy with the SXK DNA60 BB that I already have, and often am not inspired when an updated version of any consumer electronic device comes out to just dump the old version, and for me it has to offer significant improvements, and the USB port is not enough of a motivator for me

- I charge all batteries externally, so if USB charging is an option on the new version, it does not matter to me now

The seller might have one left in Rat Black, for $125 + USPS priority shipping (+ PP G&S fees if ouy want) and if anyone is interested I can ask him, and connect you to him so you can buy one. I have no skin in the game here, just sharing what I know.

Sure you can order from China and wait 3 weeks or more, but I am growing impatient while I vape on a BB with no screen (0.96 Ohm coil, fixed at 22w now) until the replacement screen from Evolv arrives some time next week. :)

...No hybrid drip tip besides JMK...

A few days ago I sent a message via the JMK site to inquire if the hybrid threaded drip-tips for the rev4 BB's will work with the SXK BB clone, and he said that many buyers have reported back that they do without issues, and that if for some reason it did not fit my rev4 BB, that I could return it no problem, but return shipping costs would be at my own expense...

I've not been a fan of metal drip tips since they usually get too hot for me, but this is still something on my radar for later on.

I would not be opposed to a metal threaded drip tip for th BB, but with a wide open inner bore of ~5mm, that had an outer sleeve of maybe 2-3mm of delrin, teflon, ultem, PEI, PMMA or acrylic, but have not yet seen one that grabs me and also costs less than $50...but I am wide open to suggestions, and need to find one that I can buy without having to go through FaceBook.

JMK, Enushi and Ohman seem to be the only sites I have found for any of this, and the selection is limited.

I don't know of any outside of FB besides those that you mentioned.

I do want a second 510 key though... just to file down so I can utilize a wider choice of DTs to sit flush.

Only one I know you can buy that actually would sit flush is the Signature Tips 510...but those cost a lot on shipping and also seems very large in diameter.

Ohman will do a custom color combo from the looks of it. You might want to inquire about that. He does acrylic ones I think.

Thanks for the info. I will send a message to see what options are available.

Gonna be a while since I just basically dumped most of my "emergency fund" to buy the kit I referenced in an earlier post today.

I have a few non-vape items that have to go up on eBay before the end of the week now to replenish the money.

But it's all good, and I need to de-clutter a little bit anyway. :)

Why not the hardware section? Stuff moves pretty fast there sometimes. But I understand if going for a wider turn out.

Because he said non-vape items

I dont think that some old guitars, audio gear, computer stuff, old hardcover books and a motorcycle will be allowed or appreciated in the Hardware section of VU, but thanks for the suggestion anyway...

Ahhh misread that. Sorry.
No worries.

Mostly spring cleaning and downsizing as we plan to sell our house soon and do not want to have to move stuff that is not often used or has been replaced with newer, and I tend to be one of those people that never throws anything away, and have held it long enough that now it has some decent resale value...

Speaking from my own experience, whoever said "war is hell" didn't have to move a household (lock, stock and barrel) after 35 years! The amount of accumulated stuff is mind boggling ! Good luck with your move.

Yea, thank you.

About 19 yrs ago, we all moved from the house that we lived in for 23 yrs, which was much bigger, and the one I grew up in with my sisters.

They went off on their own, and I stayed mostly with my mother until I moved in with my girlfriend, for 3.5 yrs, we got engaged but it did not work out, and around that time my mother became very ill, so I moved back to help her and take care of her. I have been her sole caregiver for about 15 yrs now, and do not get any help nor consideration from my sisters who have their own lives, jobs, & kids to deal with.

Now this house it getting to be too much to care for, and we are looking into getting a small apartment, so lots of 'stuff' needs to be purged. We already had a dumpster here a few months ago and threw out tons of stuff, and gave lots of books and clothes to various charities.

Next we are calling the folks from Salvation Army and Habitat for Humanity to come and take some furniture and larger items, and then some stuff is going off to an Estate Sale broker, and smaller items I hope to sell on eBay, Craigslist and other forums where applicable.

The idea being that when we move, what goes with us will be a nice fit in the new place, without any extra, or clutter, and I am trying to adopt #minimalism as a lifestyle choice.

After this move, my mother may not have much time left, so I want her to be comfortable, but it is a huge challenge to downsize all the crap accumulated in the first 50 yrs of your life, and most of the time the whole process is just miserable, but it has to be done, so I soldier thru it and keep my eye on the prize of having a simpler, more comfortable life...for maybe the next 50 yrs, if I live that long, and replacing smoking with vaping will hopefully have helped that to be possible.

:)

TL;DR - moving sux, but downsizing may cause even more distress than you think.
