HOG v3 clone vs DIY series box mod question

Been looking into a series mod on the cheap (but not cheap quality). Probably going with motley mods for a diy kit, either series 26650 or pwm. The other option is the HOG v3 clone. I understand there is an issue with the button on these clones but found an easy fix on youtubes. The RDA for either will be a modfather or warhead clone.

It seems that the motley mods kit will be more sturdy and last longer, but I'd have to buy more stuff to build it (soldering kit, drill and bits, etc). Also it's been several years since I've done any soldering and my skills have probably diminished. I can get the HOG, warhead, and a daedalus pro on 3fvape for a decent price. Then a kbee wire set and pack of cotton from Amazon, and batteries from liionwholesale, and I'll be set for a good long while. Which route would you guys go given my situation?

If you can run a soldering iron, making a mod is very rewarding.

Go for it, it'll be one mod you will probably never let go of.
you will cherish it even if you go on to build bigger and better mods in the future , you'll always be able to say "this was my first"...
