Mix it fresh...Or DIY flavor packs

Found and saved about 25 interesting recipes from here and abroad, and I'm getting ready to mix my first few recipes next week. Just wanted some opinions...

Is there any difference bewteen mixing up a recipe "fresh", or making my own "flavor packs" in glass vials for the recipes I deem as keepers? How long can I store my F-P's? Will the mixing of the flasvorings have any bearing/variance to how my recipes taste?

Any of the heavy hitters here make their own flavor packs?

I agree with others but before making big quantity of flavour bottle always try that recipe first couple of times. Test Freshly made recipe than after 1 week and/or more steep time to make sure you love that recipe flavour profile. Once you choose any recipe which you love than make big batch of flavoring bottle it will save your time and money, my 2 cent

I've done it that way for years, only for a few favorite recipes that use lots of different flavorings. It really saves time & effort later! No, it doesn't change the way it tastes versus the "usual" way of mixing. Storage and lifespan are the same as the individual flavorings, so no downside there, either. Just be sure to label it well so you don't forget what's in the mystery bottle.

The DIY lingo for that is "One Shot" I think. Making the recipe with only the flavors to use later. I could be wrong but I've read it a bunch :).

So for instance...If I find a nice ADV recipe, and make 30ml of flavorings, I can then simply add the TOTAL flavoring percentage to my nic/pg/vg per whatever ml I'm mixing?

This is what I do with mine. I put it all on the label, as well. Total %, and since I measure by weight, I put the total grams on the label, since I always make the same amount. Super time saver.

@littlewitewilly - You haven't seen me around so howdy; nice to meet'cha!

There are a coupla things that have not (yet) been mentioned but which would be really good habits to pick up as you begin ... I wish I had. You'll hear this again, but if you haven't done so, pick up a small digital scale that'll measure hundredths. This will simplify the process and make it more enjoyable. Lotsa recommendations along with how-tos in the VU forum.

Take copius notes. Listen to HIC and label everything. Frankly, just advising you so listen to HIC is valid.

If you haven't done so already, you are on the right path so Congratulations nob kicking the ciggies!
