Aesthetics and Ergonomics

One for those that love Resin finish devices, i received the Yellow Resin which has bits of Green mixed with the Yellow and has a silver frame and front panel (and Silver X-Baby tank). It is also available in Green Resin also with Silver frame, panel and X-Baby. Purple Resin and Blue Resin, these 2 versions have a Black frame, panel and comes with a Black X-Baby, There are also 4 carbon fibre versions available. The Resin covers the entire featureless back and spine of the device and also surrounds the front Silver panel. The front Silver panel houses the large colour screen at the top, below this we have "SMOK" etched on, beneath this we have the left button to the left and right button to the right, finally at the bottom is the micro USB port. One side of the device we have a fire bar that i really like, it seems to have just the right travel and despite protruding towards the top will fire by pressing anywhere apart from the bottom 25%, firing this with a squeeze style feels really nice and suits the ergonomics of the device. The bottom of the device is the battery door which has printed branding and safety stamps, moving to the top we have a gold plated, spring loaded 510 to one side. There is something slight which i will explain later with the battery door but in general the build quality is good and the resin finish is gorgeous. The spine of the device is curved making the Majesty comfortable in the hand.

TFV8 X-Baby Overview

I have done an overview for the X-Baby a couple of times before including for the G-Priv 2 kit which also came with the same 2 coils so i concentrated on using the device with various tanks. Despite not using the tank on this occasion i realise some that are reading this might want to know about the X-Baby so below i have pasted the Overview from the G-Priv 2 kit review.

Another tank in the TFV8 range which is included with most Smok kits, However the X-Baby has top airflow (which is duel cyclops with stopper, and i must say just the right resistance), and therefore also uses slightly different coils to accommodate this. If the G-Priv 2 had come with the Baby Beast or the Big Baby Beast i would of tested other tanks i am reviewing on it as i have used the TFV8 tanks that often, but with the X-Baby having top-airflow i wanted to see how it compared to it's siblings. Other than the top airflow, the tank is the same with an identical hinged top cap for easy top-filling through the fill slot. The tank easily separates into it's different components and can be put back together just as simply. With the kit you get a pre-installed V8 X-Baby Q2 0.4, 40w - 80w (best, 55w - 65w), and a V8 X-Baby T6 0.2, 40w - 130w (best, 70w - 90w). I found the Q2 personally best at 55w which gave great flavour, and with the T6 i settled for 80w which also gave me good flavour but i did prefer the Q2. There was plenty of cloud production with both coils, but as i would expect the T6 produced more. Comparing the tank to the other siblings i found no noticeable difference in flavour, however there was reduced airflow on the X-Baby which i actually preferred as it was a lot smoother. With that smoother airflow and the advantage of not getting built up liquid and condensation escaping through a bottom airflow, in my opinion the X-Baby is the better tank.

Using The Majesty

Fitting the duel 18650 batteries is done via the bottom battery door and yet again Black on Black battery orientation on the door, why not White? The battery door closes very securely however the inner linings of the tubes protrude slightly above the tubes and it all seems to be a cramped fit leaving a slight gap, it is only slight and some people wouldn't even notice but still it could be done better but i had no issues with the door opening on it's own, like i said it does seem very secure.



The display and menu system on the majesty are very familiar to a lot of the recent Smok devices, the display is very aesthetically pleasing and menu system a breeze to navigate around. To switch the device on is 5 clicks but switching it off has to be done via the menu system, when the device is on 5 clicks locks and unlocks the device (when the device is locked the device will not fire). To enter the menu system is 3 clicks which brings up a row of options, W, Ti, Ni, SS and M, you can use the left and right buttons to highlight one of these options and which ever is highlighted the things that can be adjusted are at the bottom of the screen. To move to the things that can be altered you need to hold down the fire trigger to highlight them. When W is highlighted holding down the fire trigger then moves to the wattage which can be adjusted, then holding down the fire trigger again moves to preheat. When one of the temp control wires is highlighted the things you can adjust is wattage for temp control and TCR setting, when you highlight M you have a total of 22 memory slots. From this screen instead of holding down the fire trigger you just give it a click to move to the next screen which is the puff counter settings, another click takes you to where you can change the colour accents on the screen and a final click takes you to the power settings where you can switch off the device. All these screens work the same way as the opening screen of the menu, holding down the fire trigger highlights what you can adjust then the left and right button to make your adjustments. The colour options screen has 6 colour options but also on this screen you can adjust screen timeout and whether or not you want the device to lock when the screen timeouts. I do really like the menu system on the latest Smok products, so easy to use and seem to flow seamlessly.



Performance

The Majesty is a really nice device to use, as already mentioned feeling very comfortable in the hand, i particularly like the fire bar. There's no great claims i have seen about firing speed but i didn't notice any delay and wattage seemed very accurate. I haven't seen the charts to know how close to the 225W the Majesty get's but in general the Smok devices actually fair better than most in this regard. Up to 28mm tanks look fine in my opinion with a barely noticeable overhang just to the side, 26mm will give no overhang whatsoever, a pity it doesn't have a centre 510 allowing the device to nicely accommodate 30mm tanks. Like with most high power devices i tested it at low wattage and the device was impressively silent. The battery life seemed good and the Majesty is fully firmware upgradeable.



Conclusion

A really nice looking device which i found no cons with when it came to performance and functionality. The display is sharp and bright with colour customisation and the menu system is very sleek. The X-Baby tank in my opinion is a good choice of tank to be included with this kit.
