My wife cried for almost a half an hour when she heard.And yeah this 1 really hurts for me too.

The killer part is that on top of living life on the edge so much, he was still a brilliant author and a great chef.

My personal favorite memory of him is the Iggy Pop interview in Miami.

Just read this article from the nola. I’ve worked at a few of the places he visited and have eaten at all.

But beyond anything, His influence pushed me when I was a chef. It kind opened my eyes to cuisine even weirder than what i was used to.

Two of my favorite of all time:
Sea Urchin and the eyeball off of a freshly caught blue fin.
Next would be either Nutria Tacos or Blood sausage. *i grew up with boudin so the blood sausage isn’t much of a stretch.

Except for regular fish.
Grilled Tuna is excellent.
Do not like Shrimp or any of the crawly sea critters.

And I have tasted the ocean. :blech:

There was this little place in NOLA that did a shrimp salad & fried oyster po' boy.That way you get the best of both worlds.
Man I really miss living there.But I know I could never leave San Francisco.

A May 1981 Civil District Court ruling cleared the way for selling alcohol directly from a window to passers-by on the street, according to Tulane School of Architecture geographer Richard Campanella. An ordinance change in 2001 gave drinking in public spaces the official OK, and the (plastic) go-cup officially became part of New Orleans’ culture.
