hi guys,

Just need your opinion on using TFA Vanilla Swirl as a substitute for TFA Vanilla Bean Ice-cream?

I’m planning on making a batch of mustard milk, so I wanna know if this substitution will work?

Thanks in advance!

Doubtful. Swirl is soft serve ic and has very little body to it, VBIC has a thicker custardy feel and taste. Maybe just do a 10ml sample and see if you like the taste and texture.

If you want Vanilla Swirl to be more custardy yet retain the lack of diketones, mix it with some TFA DX Bavarian Cream. Roughly half and half; more Swirl will give more pure vanilla flavor, more DX will give more custardy flavor. But both are diketone-free.

Hey that sounds interesting, thanks! I’ll try that.

I’ll probably do this,

The recipe called for 6% TFA Strawberry and 8% VBIC,

So what I’ll try is this:- 6% TFA Strawberry, 5% Vanilla Swirl and 3% Bavarian Cream.

Now I’m sure it won’t be exactly like what it’s supposed to taste like, but it should still be good.

What do you think?

Thanks

No wonder I was so disappointed with vanilla swirl...
From the descriptive picture at NR it looked lika a swirl of vanilla icing,,and nothing like it turned out to be...

I don't care for the custard type of mouth feel so I love Vanilla Swirl. Gotta love the subjectivity of vaping and mixing.:D

That's probably a decent mix -- but remember, if you don't want diketones (diacetyl, et al), you'll need to use DX Bavarian -- the regular Bavarian does have diketones. Just one of the great things about TFA -- they actually tell you if there are diketones, and a LOT of their flavors that do, they also have a DX version that doesn't -- DX Bavarian does use the butyric acid, so if you go higher than 6% on the DX Bavarian, it tastes pretty bad, but I've used up to 6%, mixed with 4.5% vanilla swirl, and it makes a nice custardy mix.

ETA: -- BTW... if you want real strawberry flavor, you're gonna need some Inawera Shisha Strawberry. TFA's strawberry smells great... and has no taste at all.

Hi again,

Actually I’m not worried about the diketones... I just ran out of VBIC and I don’t wanna purchase it again, because I don’t have any use for it apart from trying out this mustard milk recipe.

I made a 20ml batch with 6%TFA Strawberry and 8% VBIC, made sure I let it breathe so that the peppery taste from VBIC subsided.. and it tastes good,

I make make eliquids which call for Vanilla Swirl and Bavarian Cream so I’ve always got those 2 stocked up, so I was just wondering if I could combine the Vanilla Swirl and Bavarian Cream to come up with something similar to a VBIC profile.

Anyways, after your previous suggestion I made a 5ml tester using 6%TFA Strawberry, 5% Vanilla swirl and 3% Bavarian Cream, and I just shake-n-vaped it on my berserker mtl RDA, the strawberry is not as prominent as the original recipe which uses VBIC.. I think either the Vanilla swirl or Bavarian Cream, or maybe both, are overpowering the Strawberry.. so I guess there are 2 things I could try... I could bump up the strawberry from 6% to maybe 8%, or I could dial down on the Vanilla Swirl and Bavarian Cream by 1% each...

I’ll try that and report back here.

Thanks!

Hey guys,

So here’s a small update:-

My tester was : 6% TFA strawberry, 5% TFA Vanilla Swirl and 3% TFA Bavarian Cream

I ran it thru an ultrasonic cleaner for about 2 hrs at about 50 degrees Celsius, once that was done I took the glass vial, opened the cap and let the liquid cool...

I then dropped some of the liquid on my berserk mtl rda, it was a mellow pleasant vape, I think it was more cream dominant, with just a little bit of Vanilla, and strawberry was not too strong.

Now what I wanted was mainly a strawberry dominant vape, with the vanilla swirl and Bavarian Cream just rounding things off and adding that creamy feel to it. I guess I’m happy with the creamy and Vanilla notes, maybe a little more Vanilla would be perfect, so what I’m gonna do next is bump up the strawberry and vanilla swirl just a little bit.

My next tester will be :-
7% TFA Strawberry
5.5% TFA Vanilla Swirl, and
3% Bavarian Cream.

I’m guessing this will bring more strawberry to the vape and add just a little more Vanilla, or maybe I can maintain the Vanilla Swirl at the original 5% and maybe add 0.5% of TFA French Vanilla?

What do u guys think?

I think you might want to pick up a couple more strawberry flavors to your shopping list. For now I would reduce the creams rather than raise the strawberry.

Yes actually that makes sense, coz the 6% Strawberry was fine when I used the VBIC, which means the Vanilla swirl and Bavarian Cream are mellowing the strawberry more than what the VBIC did.

So maybe I should do this:-
TFA Strawberry 6%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4% (previously 5%)
TFA Bavarian cream 2% (previously 3%)

I’ve got TFA Strawberry Ripe with me as well, do u think I should combine the regular strawberry and strawberry ripe? What ratio do u suggest for combining? maybe just add 2% Strawberry Ripe to the recipe mentioned above?

Thank you

SB ripe 4% + SB 2% + VC 4% + BC 1.5% would be where I would take it. Just add some SB ripe to the existing juice and let it sit for a few hours or overnight to see what it brings to the table for you. Fa SB ripe & INW shisha SB 2:1 ratio works well for ME, might work well for you too.
Fa = TFA. I started using Fa when the vendor's started switching to just Flavor Apprentice so I would get used to the change.
