According to Congrevape's review, it is recommended to NOT use VTC5 matched batteries.....why?

vertex v2 RDA's SRP is around $100.
congrevape suggested VTC4 coz of the quality, we have tried VTC5, tested in long drags. and found no issues.

2 of them don't fire at all. One the wood was completely cracked and the other one won't fire and now has batteries stuck in it because the battery tubes are too small. They did get one that works. Also looked on the congreVape Facebook page and there's a lot of complaints and issues with them.

Hey y'all, checking in here. The Firepipes box is a phenomenal piece of hardware, however if'n you ordered through Congrevape, you can not say for sure whether you will be receiving a quality product. Because of their shipment delays, when they did end up getting the devices in, they must have rushed their QA process.
My single box alone has 7 separate physical blemishes, and the battery door has some functionality issues.

Don't misunderstand this post, the Firepipes box is fantastic and hits harder than any mod I have previously had the pleasure of using, but Congrevape really ballsed up the QA and Shipping process. I feel deeply sorry for anyone who got boxes in even worse condition than mine, especially for those who got completely non-functional hardware after waiting entirely too long.

To revive this subject a bit. One has to consider where the wood boxes are coming from, climate wise. I'm into musical instruments, guitars, ukuleles, and have a few violins. Luthier's (instrument makers) have to pay special attention to the humidity where their wood is cured and stored before ready to build an instrument. Wood will expand and contract quite a bit when shifted from say, 70% relative humidity to 30% or visa versa. Ideally, rule of thumb for musical instruments that are made for the US market, are kept and stored at a level between 40 & 60% relative humidity. The actual water content in the wood itself, using a moister meter, should be in the 7% range before building.

I've seen many instruments come from humid areas like Indonesia, Viet Nam, Philippines that crack as soon as they are delivered to the US. This is because the wood was never stored and acclimated to the proper humidity levels prior to building the instrument.

These wood mod boxes are no different. Just a slight contraction of the wood could mean the difference of firing and not firing. It's definitely the reason for the boxes cracking and the batteries being stuck in the tubes. Imagine buying a box that was made in a hot humid climate, and shipped to a dry area like Arizona. I'd be surprised if it didn't crack.

Anyway, something to think about when buying these wood boxes.
