Songs playing over and over in my head

Anybody else have this problem? It's always happened to me some, cause I just really love lots of different kinds of music, but lately OMG. It is DRIVING ME MAD.

I normally listen to CNN in my car going to work and coming home. The other day I decided I wanted to listen to the Garth channel for a bit - it isn't all country music, but mostly. Well, they played this song sung by Dolly Parton and EmmyLou Harris, and it has been on constant play in my head since about Thursday.

Before that it was days and days of songs, Rob Thomas, John Mayer, Roberta Flack of all things, on and on. One thing replays until I hear something else that my brain apparently takes a liking to, then suddenly the tune switches and I'm stuck with a different song for (possibly) days.

This probably makes me sound like a total lunatic. Hell, maybe I am a total lunatic. But I feel fairly certain that if I'm not now, and this keeps on, I will be pretty soon.

From la-la land,

Jane

I have had that problem a few times in the past. I was stressed out, and overloaded. Hasn't happened in a long time, but I still remember when I was 25 and super depressed, it was "Mmm Mmm Mmm" by Crash Test Dummies and that cover of "Mad World" that's on Donnie Darko...it literally drove me mad, I was badly depressed

Hon, I am definitely stressed out and overloaded. Maybe that's the problem. My son is lucky to be alive after the car accident he was in yesterday morning. And work has been driving me up the wall for months now. So yeah, maybe you hit the nail on the head there.

Thanks!

Priority #1 gotta be unwind, then! Take that time to let yourself be calm so you can stay sane and be there for others with peace of mind and some occasional serenity

I didn't think there was anybody left in America who listened to CNN,,,,

Would that happen to be a political-viewpoint statement? Or a question? If it is, then you know what my response is already.

Very recently had the song "You're Welcome" (from Moana) stuck in my head for days. Tried watching the vid on YT, and it didn't help to get rid of it. Kinda pissed me off, LOL.

The worst one that has grabbed me out of a movie was Beyonce's "Rise Up" from the movie "Epic." I think I had that in my head for about two weeks.

It's not quite as bad today. I've been so busy this morning, phone ringing off the hook, so that's kept me distracted. Thank heavens.

It's your subconscious. It's trying to tell you something.

You gave your brain a break from CNN. It doesn't want to go back. So,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Holy. Fucking. Shit.

I was about to reply with the same thing. That song has been playing in my head for the better part of a year now. At first it drove me bat shit crazy. If I woke up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom it would immediately start playing. When I would lay down to go to sleep at night, it would be playing. Not just that one, others from soundtrack but it was mainly “your welcome”. I don’t know what kind of Illuminati programming Disney used on me but whatever it is works.

I used to try and fight it but I’ve since relented to my white gloved rodent handler and just mindlessly sing the song with a helpless smile on my face. Sure it’s a catchy tune but for fucks sake...

Btw, my daughter is having movie night as we speak. Guess what what we are watching for the millionth time...

Did I jinx the whole damn place? This evening's song is one short snippet of something that goes "one last time" and that's all the words I know. Dammit now two women are singing it on The Voice.

have you tried drugs or meditation instead...they are better for your soul.

I'm afraid that either of those alternatives would only make matters worse, but thank you for being concerned about my soul. :vino:

LMAO, wow!

Yeah, @f1r3b1rd and his honey, @always9988 could probably quote that movie, as well. I think it's because she had told me that she enjoyed the movie, THE FIRST TIME she saw it, that I even watched it. She quickly tired of it, since her kiddos have watched it over, and over, like your daughter, LOL.

Back when my youngest daughter was little, "The Little Mermaid" was THE movie (oh and my son, good lord have mercy, "The Karate Kid").

You know your kids have watched a movie TOO MANY TIMES when they can quote very nearly the entire script of it. My son is especially talented at this.

I had Badfingers "Baby Blue" stuck in my head for almost a month. Of course, I think I was upset over Walter White and the ending of "Breaking Bad". My latest is "Love is like Oxygen".

I believe that movie is a form of cultural terrorism.

Quieter things get, the louder the ringing gets. Never goes away.

Natalie Portman Commercial for Dior sticks in my head! Love Sia "Chandelier song.

That's a great commercial. I like Sia very much. Recently bought one of her CDs ("This is Acting") and can't stop listening to it. It's really good. I read somewhere that all the songs on this CD were ones that she had written and offered to other vocalists, and they'd returned them to her. One song was co-written with Adele, and it sounds like an Adele song. "Alive," I think, is the name of it.

The one of hers that I get in my head is "Unforgettable." It's part of the closing score of "Finding Dory," iirc, and a remake of an old Nat King Cole song. Saw her perform it on Ellen, and have been getting it in my head off and on ever since. The song is indeed unforgettable. :D
