Help with making tricore fused claptons

I can make dual core fused Claptons just fine and ordered the 28g core Patino alien makers to make a tricore fused Clapton but every time I go to make the coil it doesn’t stay flat it turns into a Mohawk. The cores seem flat after wrapping. What could I being doing wrong? Any suggestions are welcome, TIA

I'll bump this for you but might want to check the ' coil building' forum. Loads of info there that will help you as well as builders.

I’ve looked through a lot of the pages and threads couldn’t find anything when it came to making the coil only Info on how to keep the cores straight. Thank you for suggesting to post there.

you need to make sure your 3 cores are good and straight, hot glue them together on both ends. make a slider out of small wire, or a paperclip, I use the plastic clasp thingy off a hoodie string.. anything to hold the cores flat.. Clapton up to whatever you have holding your cores then stop and move it on up the line.. take a pair of nylon or smooth pliers and squeeze your cords flat if/when then start to bunch up.. go slow and fix any problems as soon as they start to go bad..

hope this helps a bit.. if not, PM me and I'll try and send you photos or a video of me making one.. cheers man

The biggest concept here is only Claptoning at most an inch if your just getting started with 3+ cores. Also, prep. If you do shitty prep, coupled with too much tension your build is doomed before you start.

Also, there are tons of threads in the coil building section. Id say once every few weeks someone is asking how to make tri-core and more-core Claptons and aliens.

From experience, I will say that making more-core aliens is "easier" if you have your alien technique down because that wire holds itself better, and you're limited on the amount of tension you can use. To much and your alien wrap is starting to space and look shitty.

I learned 2 core aliens, then aliens, then more-core Claptons and then more-core aliens.

This is about as thorough as I can be without telling you that the information your wanting has been posted many times in the build thread.

Round wire is hard to Clapton passed two cores. It can can be done, but you need to practice perfect preparation.

!!!!!!!!!LEARN PERFECT PREP!!!!!!!
