Mine is by a brand called Wireworks. It is amazing wire, and the spooling techniques are perfect... it is from Belgium where I live, but there's free shipping to the U.S., U.K., Germany, and France on orders from 75 Euros on up.
https://www.vapuri.be/rba/937-wireworks-nichrome-80.html#/gauge-27g_250ft

The raymo clamps are inside the airplane above the pond right now. So I had to make do with the magic that's in this wire to complete my build.

a rough staggerton for 'the tank' on 26650. 8 x .2/30/38 n80 .14 ohms
View attachment 109364
not my finest work by any means, but its working as intended...trying to find a good build for 26650 tubes. so far its lighting up fast and performing well.
Looks great to me. Really nice color. I've only done a couple staggertons. I imagine the vape is pretty rowdy.:vino:

i have been having trouble finding a build big enough for this tank that works well on a 26650 battery. i recently replaced my batteries and the situation improved a bit, but i think i need to get a nicer 26650 tube and see if that helps. this build is one of my better attempts though (now i just gotta get it cleaner)

Looks great man!
Thanks brother! Lately I've been trying to attempt more creative builds. I'll usually do one that I'm not comfortable with and then revert back to the fralien, then another that I'm not comfortable with, and then another fralien and so on. The single coil fralien has been my go to vape for a while now. .14 is perfect for me, and the coil produces a lot of vapor and a lot of flavor. Nothing really vapes as well on a single battery tube mod then a well made fralien IMO, although there are builds like the framed staple helix which are also fun to vape cause they add the element of twisted wire. I think my next build is going to be my first real attempt at a hybrid coil. Either that or a corrugated framed staple. I'm not sure. They are both pretty challenging for me. I guess we'll see. Thanks again for the kind words, I appreciate it!

Traditional Alien but Flat Wrapped. .30 ohms, 60 watts in the Kylin Mini. Restricts down the airflow 50%, but provides a dense, warm, moist vape. Sometimes experimenting pays off lol.

I gotta say that is a really nice looking coil! Can you kinda explain to me what you mean by flat wrapped? How do you get that done. You have to pardon my lack of knowledge I'm not very familiar with anything other than the traditional method of wrapping. It appears as if there is a very large inner diameter. I must say it very cool looking.

Each coil you make is getting better bro, it's always good to have feedback. Otherwise how do you know if you are moving in the right direction? Wish people would leave constructive feedback more often for recipes after trying them.

Anyway keep it up!

I wrapped it around an 8mm (approx.) Flat stick instead of a 3mm jig/screwdriver, giving the wrap a flat shape. Lots of surface area!

A janky looking fralien from my surplus box, can't even remember the specs. Looks like either a 10 or 12 ply to me. The natural light doesn't half help some of the colours pop :D

I wouldn't say that's Janky looking at all your binding is spaced perfectly, you've got big waves, and your color is amazing. The wraps are a little spaced but I do mine the same way. I actually like them a little bit spaced that way there are no hot spots from the kickoff. I don't really find that the spacing between wraps affects the vape if it's minimal. Looks like a great vape to me!

Nice one Shred, I appreciate the nice words. It is janky though. If you look at the first 2 wraps the frames are higher and lower than each other. It was basically a throw away build anyway so I don't mind criticism, I know where I probably went wrong and it'd be when wrapping it into a coil lol. It's a fairly decent vape, wouldn't say it was amazing though. Finally got myself the pulse bf box so working on finding my own favourite single battery mech build :) been a long time since I had a mech. The alien stagg I've just thrown out of it was a better vape IMO, only changed the coil cause I ran out of the particular flavour I was vaping and don't have any vanilla Bean Ice cream to make up another batch :/

Parallel wrapped fused Claptons, 2x28/36 A1 in my Serpent SMM. Just wanted to see if it would fit, but actually turned out pretty good. Fantastic flavor, good cloud production, and a dense warm vape at 50 watts. 4 wraps, 3mm, .28 ohms

that was my first attempt at razorbacking. as long as you have a good clamp, it's not bad. I got a pack of like 20 of these for 3 or 4 bucks at walmart. make sure they have a good beefy spring..

46 gauge wow do you were any magnifying eye stuff? Always post the “junk”! I like that you and others post whatever they make even if it’s a bent stick. This thread gets boring when everyone’s being to hard on themselves..

i agree. its good to post the rough builds so you can look back later and measure progress, but its also good to just think it out with people. i have had a lot of times where i fail a build and make a post about it and then people here will try to help me think it through or just share some experiences that might help me figure out what to adjust. we are lucky to have so many people here to do that with who can all offer first hand advice on this stuff.

Wasn't impressed with the vape off the previous build so decided to throw a 5 core alien in instead. My first 5 core as well :) much better on the mech

You're color is always so awesome I wish I could get color like you do. I did install a coil yesterday that I already posted and got some nice deep blues, purples and golds out of it, but it was a coil that I already posted so I would feel super cheesy posting it again. I have a build in mind, kind of like a corrugated staggerton variation. We'll see if I can A) wrap it and B) Get color out of it. I know it's gonna ohm super low if I can get the wrap right. I think what I have to do to get the coil to wrap without rolling that corrugated wire is go extra slow. Just a little bit at a time. We'll see what happens!

I appreciate that dude :D it's pretty simple to get the colours to pop, I just use a regulated mod and a dark room. If you start to see glowing when you pulse you're probably pulsing too much. All you want to do it gently heat it through. I also try to work hot spots out before I heat the coil to preserve the surface from scratches in the colour. Don't mean that to sound condescending, I know I'm not a pro or anything, it's just what has worked for me. If you wanna send that pic for me to see just DM me dude :)

You don't sound condescending at all dude you sound knowledgeable and one of the reasons I came to this forum is to take inspiration from people like yourself who are knowledgeable. I appreciate you taking the time to explain it to me. Honestly I'm better at actually building the coil I want than getting the color I want out of it. I should have taken a photo of the coil when it was colored up but I didn't. It was probably the best color I have ever gotten. I got it by pulsing my mech mod very gently with a half charged battery. I thought about it and just decided no one would want to see the same coil twice. The next coil I install I'll send you a photo of the color I'm able to get I promise.:vino:

I appreciate that dude. It's only because the information is readily available in a lot of places I just think it's common knowledge. Like a parrot trying to act smart by repeating something he's just heard lol. I've never tried to colour on a mech before, until recently I'd only ever owned 1, that was the SMPL. Kinda wanna get the v2 version as it was a nice mod and small sized. Wish they'd bring out a 20700 version though as I've invested more in those batteries now. Enjoying the pulse bf but thinking I might wanna try a 6 core alien as I'm not getting quite enough heat from that 5 core from yesterday. Probably because I'm using a 5mm bit it's leaving the ohms too high to get the right amount of Watts to the coil.
Do you own a regulated mod? If not I would advise possibly buying the cheapest vw mod you can get, doesn't even need to give that much power just needs to be able to fire low ohm builds. I use 40w on practically all my coils for colouring, only going over that if I'm running a dual coil, and not by much. I know my captain pd270 fires down to .05 ohms so if you could get a cheap one of those it would definitely help with colouring. With all the mods they've brought out recently as well the captain should be fairly cheap by now... Would have thought anyway. Thanks again Shred :D

I’m so glad you said this, I was wondering today if bigger decores would yield more waves and I was about to ask on here. Grabbed a few feet of 22g k1 yesterday to try it and was hesitant because I’m low on wrap wire, but now I’m def gonna give it a shot when my ribbon comes in Thursday.

I do own a couple regulated mods, for example I own one of the original DNA250s. I'm not quite sure why I bought it lol. I started out regulated using tanks then I bought a couple parallel boxes, went through my Noisy Cricket phase, just continued building and so on. I remember making my first single alien coil and vaping it proudly haha. At that time I thought being able to make an alien coil was a really big deal. I'm gonna try doing what you suggested with my DNA250 since I don't really use it for much else it might as well be used for something!

I honestly like very much.:D I find that decores have a certain accommodation range so to speak. For example if you use 26g frames on a 4 ply .4 ribbon stack that is about the same as using three pieces of 26g wire in terms of width, so common alien math would tell you that a 26 decore for that stack is correct. However, I like to make my fraliens with 26g frames/6 ply .5 ribbon all N80 ohming at about .14 for a single coil, that's the ideal vape for me. Lot's of vapor and flavor. But the point is I overstretch the 26 decore just a little to accomodate for the extra two plys and the little bit of extra height of the .5 ribbon vs the .4 ribbon. Conversely alien math says you should use a 24g decore if you are using 5 28g cores for an alien coil. I find going down to 22 gets you a little extra wave in the 5 core alien which I like. So I like a smaller than suggested decore for my fraliens cause I find it holds the ribbon stack together a little bit tighter for wrapping and I like a larger than suggested decore for my 5 core aliens, just to make bigger waves for fun. Of course the accommodation range only goes so far, there are limits, but there is a little room to play around either way with your traditional alien math due to how you stretch the decore and or finding the right tension to put on your decore while binding. That's what I have found.:D

Just tried nostrech style of wrapping alien wraps and i think i will prefer that over walking my entire room streching the decore. Here i tried it on fralien 6*.45/26/36 decore was made on 26 :)
