New Here

Hello I’ve been vaping for about 4 years and was a smoker before that. I really need to quit. I just finished the last of my 6 mg juice and was wondering if anyone here has quit before. I would really appreciate some genuine responses with experiences and/or advice to how hard it was to quit, effects, how long did it take to feel normal? Stuff like that. I want to quit because I want to drop the addiction and save money. I feel like I am ready to quit. Sorry if this is the wrong topic to post to. Please respectfully correct me if so. Thank you.

I don't know of anybody who posts here that has quit vaping and managed to never vape again - a large number have returned as smokers again and starting to vape all over again though

Best of luck with this new journey

Welcome aboard ...I’m down to zero nic now ....finally made the jump ...been trying it for a week now and to be honest not noticing that much of a change, still enjoy the vape, juice all tastes sweeter without nic in ....maybe try that for a bit see how you get on?

Once the nicotine is out of your system and you no longer have a dependency it might make make it easier to cut it out completely

Thank you. I’m going to try that. I have a bottle of 0mg. Just a bit worried that I will get stressed out and push people away. I noticed I hardly crave at all when I’m at work and keeping busy. But when I get home I need it. Have you been vaping for a long time? Keep me posted if you can. Thanks again.

I was thinking that also - especially if its cost that is driving the quitting vaping, just get some straight VG (PG also if desired) and vape naked as needed - fairly cheap way to go and coils last a heck of a lot longer too

I'm pretty sure there are a few vapers that have progressed to where they just are "done" and sold stuff off. No smoking, no vaping. They achieved their personal "goal".

I've no real interest in going that far, nor in ditching nicotine. But, they are both achievable goals w/o federal, state or med/pharm interventions.

Welcome to VU. Those that are most successful at quitting find it easier if they have a substitute for the hand to mouth habit established. As KingPin said get to 0nic first and while doing that develop a hobby to help distract you when you take the leap. Best of luck.

Thank you all. I’m eager to see how this works out for me. I just think it’s time I let go of this addiction. I’d love to vape 0mg here and there just for fun. But the dependency can sometimes seem to control some parts of my life. I appreciate your responses. I’ll keep adding to this thread as I progress in my journey if that’s ok.

Welcome to the forum :)

I would like to see how it goes for you too.
I am very interested to see how it goes.

A famous youtuber who owns a vape shop named Ryan Hall quit vaping for a month and had barely any side effects.

Here is the youtube video where he starts and if you look in the videos section on his channel there are like 6 more during the time when he was quit and he goes into detail about how he feels.

I don't know if you have more then one mod but if you do you could try putting zero nic in the mod you normally use and also have a backup mod with some eliquid with nic in it for those times when you get stressed.

You may want to try that for a couple days just until you get adjusted to the zero nic.

The last thing you need is to get the itch while out and about and end up bumming a smoke.

You might well get grumpy for a few days but stressed out is extereme ...i weaned myself down to 2%first before switching off so the transition has been much easier

I do enjoy vaping its the habbit of it, my job is pretty stressful so getting away from the desk with time to think is really helpful otherwise id likely be there all day...but the addicition side in my opinion is laregly a phycological dependency, you think it helps so you dont want to not use it ...ive also tried entire days without vaping and not vaping is a damn site easier than not smoking was

Ive quit cigs cold turkey before and that is hard! think it was three years i was off the stinkies but once a smoker always a smoker

Thanks. I watched two of the videos, pretty interesting. I honestly thought it would be harder. I guess the hard thing for me will be how much I look forward to coming home from work and vaping. I am hoping that vaping 0mg will help with the dependency.

So it’s been about 24 hours and I got food poisoning last night. I was up all night losing insane amounts of fluids and got extremely dehydrated. Now I have absolutely no energy to even move out of bed. I had to quickly call a crap load of people this morning to cover my shift. Only person who offered to come in was a girl I’m training. Luckily me and my boss are pretty close so it worked out.

Since I have no energy and I’m extremely sick and weak, I don’t feel much urge to vape. I am not able to tell if I have any side effects or mood changes because of how sick I got. I am finally able to keep fluids down. I puffed a few times with 0mg nicotine and it just didn’t settle well for me I think it’s the food poisoning. So the first 24 hours (quitting vaping) went pretty well with no side effects that I know of. I am praying that I have enough energy for work tomorrow morning.

It was hard as kicking a Drug Addiction for me me to quit smoking and my Initial thought was to taper off to Zero and quit vaping but I realized when I was at 1.5 MG that vaping was not as enjoyable. So if I am going to vape I will at least be at 3MG like I am now and actually thinking of going up in the MG. right now after almost 4 years of vaping when I can't vape I don't and never Jones for nicotine so no matter what they say about it being addictive. I am proof they are wrong. Good Luck and Vape On~!

5th day no nicotine and I can definitely tell a difference this morning. I am more sensitive to things that I could usually overcome without hesitation. I am questioning my judgement on things. I am getting upset with myself but I know I can pull through. I just need to push. It should be over in a couple weeks. This morning is not going well. Vaping the 0mg is just not doing it for me. I just feel a bit restless all around.

Usually I’m not dreading going to work but these past couple days I am. I don’t want to go to work at all. I don’t want to see anyone. I want a replacement for the vape but I can’t think of anything that would help the itch. I just wonder when I’ll be able to feel normal again. I am going to get through this though. It’s not close to as bad as other things I’ve quit in my life, doesn’t make it any easier. Just wish I could be done with this now.

If this is what you really want then go for it~! Sounds to me like you are doing pretty good even thought you have some anxiety. Good Luck

Yep THIS.
And welcome to VU.

If you really want to quit vaping you will have to gradually work your nic level down to zero.
Good luck with the quitting vaping if it is what you really want to do.

Just the nicotine part. I wouldn’t mind vaping 0mg nicotine here and there but the constant dependency on my vape is controlling parts of my life that’s all.

well cut down to 3mg nic as a first step.
or mix 3mg and 6 mg juice as an intermediate step.

I have tried low and Zero Nicotine but it wasn't for me although I know a few people who vape Zero so it is definitely possible. Vape On

I am going to keep up this cold turkey as long as I can. If I can’t keep it up then I will have to buy myself a 3mg bottle. Unfortunately I’ve tried to taper it down before and just found myself chain puffing twice as much.

That was the only way I could quit smoking because cutting down and dual use did not work for me. Although it was hard as shit but once I made up my mind I stuck it out. Might want to look into Nicotine Salts.
