I consider myself an intermediate user. I've been vaping for 13 months now. I have been building for 10 months. I still have ALOT to learn, but I also know what I'm doing. Or so I thought.....

I ordered the Kylin mini, and I'm having problems with her. She ohms out at .22, but she sizzles real bad (not that sweet sound of wicking sizzle, the burnt bacon kind) and the tail end of hit is dry. I unscrew it immediately and the cotton is soaked in juice still. That's the issue I've never had. Sure I've had dry hits, but if I look at the cotton after a dry hit, the cotton has the whites sploches, it's dryish. This isn't. It's completely soaked.

I have wicked this several ways. First wick I had the cotton just ever so slightly sticking out the wick holes in bottom of tank. And I was getting dry hits, and when I looked at it, the cotton was dry. So I rewicked, and the cotton was too short. It was leaking. The dry hits went away. But to much leaking. So I rewicked again and the cotton is just bairly visible, and now it only leaks after I fill it and open the airflow.!! Which is problem number two. But I also can't go above 50 watts without dry hits and sizzle. Not the good kind of sound, nut sizzle like frying bacon.

I let a buddy borrow it, and when he gave it back his wicking job looked exactly like mine, now. We use same cotton, the amount if cotton and length are the same. But it wicked, tasted and Vaped beautiful. Now when I went to change the cotton. I can't get it right again.

So let's recap.

1) Can't vape without dry hits and sizzle but cotton is saturated.

2) leaks ONLY after i refill it. I close the airflow when I refull. When I reopen it...it leaks. More then one should. I clear it out and it's fine until next refill.

And the build and cotton are the same as when my buddy had it. And when I got it back, I Vaped it for a few days no problems. I've checked it over and cleaned tank also. Nothing missing.

I tried to upload some photos but it said file was too large. If there is anyway or anywhere to upload them let me know if ya wanna see it.

I have read up on the wicking of this tank. They say not to let the cotton come out of the bottom of the holes (when the tank is assembled)

Juice is Pancake House Maple 80/20 vg-pg ratio

Thanks for whoever reads this damn book and any help you might be able to give.

Wicking is by far the most challenging aspect of any of this. It sounds to me like a possible combo of 1) too much wick, 2) too thick juice (VG is very thick), 3) too high wattage or temp, and 4) too little airflow -- the last 2 causing some burning, though it's hard to know about the burning since you said the wick looks wet when you take it apart after said "dry" hit. Just because your friend's wicking looked the same as yours, doesn't mean that it IS the same -- you may be rolling the cotton too tightly, or just cramming too much into the coil -- it needs to BARELY touch the coil while dry, so that when it expands when wet, it doesn't crowd itself in the coil.

Try turning th power down some, see if that helps any, and/or opening up the airflow a bit. It's all a balancing act.

I have no issues with the kylin mini. I comb/thin out the cotton and then i cut it on a angle as to like fade it so that when you screw the glass and chimney on it dont cut of the juice flow. I cut it so that it barly touches the deck. Not coming out of the holes. This thing don't like alot of cotton. But has to has just enough so it don't leak. I will get some pics when I rewick it if you need them. Is a nice single coil tank once you get the wicking down. I also use a 2.5mm coil for cotton bacon but i do sometimes use 3.0mm if using native wicks cotton. I have noticed that if you have the afc closed any it builds up condensation and looks like it leaks. If I keep it wide open it has no problems at all.

Could you include a picture of your build? Would help with troubleshooting...

I'm sorry for the very late reply. I tried to include a picture but it says it's to big? I have no idea how to work computer stuff. I'm a dummy when it comes to that.

Thank you for your reply! I have pics of mine but I dunno how to post them. It said the size was too big.

I use cotton bacon prime and cotton bacon. I have just enough cotton in the coil that it is snug not too tight or too loose. The amount is good. I have my cotton tails just right at the bottom of the wick ports. They should be in right spot. I had more and it was dry hitting. I had a tad less and it was leaking. So this is right in between. It's not leaking anymore. But I get that nasty sizzle. Not the good ol pop, but the sizzle. It's ohmed out at .21 and I've Vaped it between 50 and 68 watts.

This tank has amazing flavor...when I have less cotton where it leaks only when I fill it. It doesn't leak while I vape the tank and flavor is amazing. But when I pop the top and fill ER, then it leaks. I clear it out, and it's fine until next refill. When I have it to where it doesn't leak when I fill it, the flavor is muted.

I mean I know it's all about the cotton and finding the sweet spot. It's just fustrating. LoL.

But thanks for taking the time to respond.

Have a great day

The mini is a complete pain in the ass to wick don’t worry you aren’t alone @Vaping_Orchard
just skip ahead to the wicking part.... hope it helps (read some of my notes as well as you may need to play with how much cotton you feed into the well before it settles with your juice ratio and cotton brand

Awesome. Ok, thank you!! This thing is giving me such troubles. I sat down one day and said "ok asshole, your going to work!" (Talking to me) I set out 4 pieces of cotton bacon prime cotton, and I started. I filled the tank tank half way and vaped these around 30 minutes between changing out cotton, to give the cotton a little time to expand. And then I broke the seal and closed it again to see if it would leak. I have just the right amount of thickness to the Cotton, it's not rolled tight. It's snug in coul, but loose enough you can still pull it through ok.

Try 1.. first one was a bit to long..when I screwed on the top it was just bairly out the holes. I was getting dry hits. For the first few seconds it was dine, then dry. Flavor bairly. I like long deep 4 to 5 second toots. I took lid off then back on. And it didn't leak.

Try 2.. this one was a bit too short. When I filled it it and was vaping it it would leak a little. But the flavir was amazing. Absolutely spot on. When I took lid off and back on, and opened air flow, was like a small stream.

Try 3..this one was right in between the last two. The cotton came just bairly to bottom of tank. They wasn't touching the bottom tho. It fit the sick ports perfectly. When I screwed on the lid and glass, you can just bairly see the cotton. But it isn't sticking out of the holes or touching bottom. No leaking. Flavor is good, but it's not as good as it should be. I'm not getting dry hits but it feels like it wants too. If that makes any sense. The pop pop pop sounds are good...means it's wicking. Love that sound. But this is sizzling. Sounds like a steak on grill. After I let off fire button it still sizzles for like 2 seconds. And it's loud. I have read the pop sound is what you wanna hwae, the sizzle isn't. And very minor leak when I take top off. Hardly any. About common amount. This is so fustrating. LoL. And I've had similar issues with the Zeus RTA too.

I have the SMM single coil, Ammit single coil, captain rta single coil, Themis dual coil, several other rta and never the issues I've had on this. And the Zeus. I mean of course I've had to change cotton because I out to much or little in before, but I've always gotten em all to wick probably.

But thanks for the reply! I appreciate it. I attached a few photos of the one I'm running right now. I even cut just s smidge off of what you see here. Where they are almost but not quite toughing bottom.

This is my latest build...after I watched ur video and I trimmed my tails. I don't think it was fluffy enough at the top. Last time I had them this short it leaked like crwzy. It doesn't leak now...but after about a two second pull I get dryness. So much drynsss.

The cotton looked food and wicked . So idmfk. LoL. But I loved your review @KingPin! I'm definitely gonna star looking at them. My go to review is not a YouTube one, but a written one. I personally like those better.
