I posted this in the general diy sub-forum, but i'm posting it here in case you don't read that sub that often HIC, and i would appreciate your thoughts ( and anyone else who happens to read it here ) :

I have been diy'ng for about a year, mainly copying other' recipes, and rarely creating my own. I don't have long term experience with flavors. I have about 120 different flavors, about 80 of them FA, and i have been very happy by and large with my purchases, both in terms of the flavors themselves, and the different variety of liquids that could be produced using my flavors, a third of which i haven't even used yet.

I opened my bottle of Lemon Sicily to mix one of HIC's recipes that i like a lot, but hadn't mixed for a couple of months. Noticed it doesn't smell as potent right of the bat, but thought maybe i'm getting sick or my sense of smell is a bit off today. Mixed the recipe and could barely taste the lemon. Note, this is not a case of the lemon fading after a long steep which i've heard is common with citruses, it tasted weak right after mixing.

Is this normal in your experience ? Are there other flavors prone to losing potency after a year ? I'm getting worried that i wasted money by buying so many flavors in the beginning of my diy journey. Like i said before, i haven't even used 30 or 40 of my flavors at all.

My photo description of FA's Pazzo Burlone (Joker) flavor. FA describes it as cannoli, but I'm reminded of these Keebler cookies.
If you like FA Metaphor, Vienna Cream, and vanilla cookies, you'll like this FA premixed flavor.
I'd say it's a quick and tasty vanilla cookie for new DIYers...and a good introduction to FA flavors.
Do you have the other ones in the one-shot release too ? Any thoughts you care to share yet ? Will they be added to your 'notes' anytime soon ? Thanks !

I've found it best to store flavorings cool and dark. I've kept a very old set of FA flavors to see how time affect them, but it's sure not a complete collection. I believe all that *have* changed or faded substantially over the (3+) years have been fruit flavors. Tutti-fruity was first (less than a year) and changed dramatically in flavor; Strawberry faded; Mangosteen faded; (plain, original) Orange did, too. Sometimes when I receive new stock I'll do a quick taste comparison with that old batch of flavors, but it's been a while since I've taken the time. One thing that's stuck me is their consistency from batch to batch. FA really excels at that, compared to other brands. I can't say I've noticed any change in Lemon Sicily, but that one does settle into layers if it sits a long time (especially in a cool/cold place).

For a while I bought FA & other brands only from a vendor who used glass vials (RTS Vapes, if anyone's wondering). All of those have held up perfectly, from delicate flavors to super-minty ones. Those vials are 2-3 years old now, too. I'm convinced glass is ideal for long-term storage, though I'll admit I'm too lazy & cheap to transfer everything to glass.

About the other FA Pazzo blends...yes, I'll post my impressions of them here first, then later update "HIC's Notes" all at once with full detail. It's time for a new edition; it'll take me a while to do a thorough edit, but that's on my to-do list.

I bought some flavors from Vaperstek in glass vials recently. I was a little concerned buying flavors from them. My thought being, they probably don't sell as much (flavors) as other vendors and, their stock wouldn't be rotated as fast.

When I got them I was surprised they came in glass. I've never gotten flavs in vials before. All of the flavors I got were bright and clear. I will not hesitate to buy from them again. It's kind of a pain using pipettes but I got a bunch.

I didn't know Vaperstek was using glass now - thanks for that tip.
Wizard labs used to sell (maybe still do) glass dropper caps that fit their own glass vials and rtsvapes' as well. It's way more convenient than pipettes.

Oh cool. I'll get some n see if they fit the 10ml vials from VT. I only got a few Inawera flavors from there. I'm sure you've seen vials before lol but here's a pic-

My photo description of FA's Pazzo Asso (Ace) flavor. That's FA's photo from the bottle, and it's pretty danged accurate. Papaya is the predominant flavor, so it's sweet, tropical, a little floral. Don't let that "floral" scare you off IF you like red Hawaiian Punch. Banana, Coconut, and Pineapple are the other flavors I can clearly identify, pretty much in that order. I don't taste any sweet-and-tart kiwi or citrus-y orange. But as we know, FA's new Royal Orange is a great sweetener and blender, so I could sure believe it's in there. If you like cool effects or menthol, Asso is very well-suited to those additions.

FA is weird. I can get Premium Custard but not Pazzo. You guys in the US get the Pazzo but not the PC. Fucking weird.

The Pazzo blends are brand new. One thing FA is consistent about is never releasing new stuff to all distributors/continents at once. Who knows if it's intentional or just a matter of shipping logistics. North America used to be always last in line; that hasn't been the case lately, perhaps because FANA (FlavourArt North America, which is in Canada) has gotten into full swing.

Maybe just not yet, hopefully you will be able to soon :)

Yes, I’m so bummed I missed out on getting the FA Premium Custard  I can’t make Hic’s Creme Brule or the Custard. And I love those flavor profiles. I guess I can order from FA Italy....

I think the reason is that due to their continuing discussions with the FDA here in the U.S. they want to avoid Premium Custard being introduced in the commercial stream. I believe the Pazzo line was developed specifically with the U.S. market and palate in mind, but i'd bet they will eventually release it in Europe as well.

Thanks HIC

I'm usually good about shaking flavors before i mix, but it's quite possible that i forgot this time ! Especially since i was mixing a bunch of different liquids in that session.

You could order it from Chef's Flavours in the UK. I get all my flavors from them and they're great. They also have this

Read the first few posts on that thread. I've been using the FC and Xpress Flavor to get FE.

I ordered once from FA Italy and it took a very long time to get it.

@HeadInClouds, I took advantage of the St. Patricks day sale from Vaperstek. To my surprise half of the bottles were in plastic dropper bottles. I just thought I'd let you know incase. I thought they were all in glass since my first order was. I don't really know what they got going on. Maybe they're phasing them out, I dunno.

FA uses a picture of strawberry candy for Pazzo Jack, but I find this image more accurate. FA Apple makes a great sweetener for other fruit flavors, and that's what I taste here. If you have Jack and you have Apple, smell both and see if you agree.

Off topic but on topic regarding glass: I received a few FLV flavors today. Several of them came in a frosted glass bottle. Different type of bottle to what I am familiar with plus with a longer dropper tip. Apparently they will be transitioning to these new bottles as their current inventory changes.

My newfound experiences as well.
Stored in glass in a cool dark place, flavoring can last 3+ years.
I'm glad I made the effort in Jan 2015 to transfer and store a portion of a big order into smaller glass vials. These 3+ year old flavorings held out impressively well.
I recently pulled the old kit out and did some experimenting. Made the Limoncello Torrone Parfait, Vienna Cream version, with the old flavorings and was amazed how well it persevered. Taste was almost spot on to how I recall the initial mixes back in 2015. The Chocolate Marshmallow Fudge was equally impressive.

Rule of thumb, if they still smell good they will still taste good.

Mix onnn...

Let me know what you think of the cornbread, please.
Hi @bobnat  you wanted to know my thoughts on the Cornbread. A few hours after mixing, it tastes like Creamed Corn & smells like Creamed Corn, and I thought uh-oh I may not like this so much :D but then the next day I put in my Pulse 22 bf rda with the Pulse squonk mod with a Juggernaut Coil & at first, Creamed Corn then & my daughter says I smell like Creamed Corn, but then it morphed into a delicious I can’t stop vaping it :p I really can’t explain flavors but its really, really good! I’ve been vaping it for 3 days, all day :D at night I switch to something else. Every now & then I get a whiff of Creamed Corn but its melded into yumminess! I hope this helps. :vino:

it’s a winner @HeadInClouds ! It’s deliciioius!

Chefs is quick to the US. 7-10 days tops. And the shipping isn’t terrible. I’ve been hoarding Custard Premium and picking up a few others along the way that the US doesn’t stock.
