A Rhode Island representative has proposed a raise in tax on M-rated video games to fund mental health provisions in schools.

GamesIndustry.biz reports that the Republican member for the Rhode Island State House, Robert Nardolillo, has plans to increase the tax on games with ratings of M or higher, by 10%.

The statement follows President Donald Trump's recent comments on the power of violent video games and films to shape "young people’s thoughts," a week after the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 people died in an attack.
