Dual coil build on mech using 25r

Hey, I need some advice on setting up a dual coil build on my 25r, I’m using stainless steel flat Clapton wire from vandy vape and I’m running about 6 wraps on the cm jig using the rod marked 35, and I’m getting about .11 on the ohms reader after dry burning but I’m trying to achieve about .2-.25 since the button on my rig mod v3 burns my finger anywhere below .2 and I don’t really feel safe anywhere below .2

I know to achieve this I need to build the coils at about .49-.5 individually but on their own they are about .28 but it’s no wheee near the vapour production I’m after since I’m only running a single coil build.

Any advice please?

I'm in a hurry here, but either switch to kanthal, add wraps, raise your core wire gauge, or make a larger diameter coil. Stainless steel has a lower resistance than kanthal. Someone will come explain more in detail.

Stainless steel is all I could find in my local vape shop but I’ll definitely try kanthal if I can find the time to buy some! I’ve built them with with the rod marked 40 on the jig with 6 wraps but only got as high as .33 per coil

Adding more wraps will do....but single coil is better...it saves battery.

Batteries not much of an issue seeing as I always have 8 fully charged batteries in my bag daily so dual is what I’m after

I find the fancier wires like Clapton’s perform poorly on single and dual parallel mechs, too much wire mass for the low power of the batteries.

If you want fancy builds, use a series Mech, for single or dual battery parallel mechs, just use some round 22 or 24 ga Kanthal, 24 ga SS, or 24ga Ni80 at 5-8 wraps.

You will get better results that way.

If you want the extra flavour that ss delivers you'll have to have single coil only or, as other dude said, use 24 gauge. However, you'll be sacrificing more flavour by not usin a Clapton build. So, single coil! Try a death wish 30mm rda. Awesome single coil rda. While you can use just 1 coil on alot of rdas, they're not really suited to it. Ie goon rdas. Good luck. This is the downside of mechs. Headaches!

I’m currently using the peerless rda on a VAMP Rig mod v3 and it’s working fine on single coil, guess I’ll just stick to a single coil

I’ll definitely try that if I get the chance, thanks for the help!

No problem, if you are getting a hot button on your rig, take it apart and clean all the threads and contacts, you shouldn’t get a hot button at all, not even at a .1ohm build, sounds like it’s not getting the best connection.
That can also lead to poor performance due to the voltage drop in the mod.

And you won’t be missing out on any flavor by going to simple round wire builds, I have yet to try a single Clapton, fused staple, or alien that tasted any better than a good round wire build.

Really? I have never heard anyone say you can get same flavour as a Clapton from a round wire build. That's the whole reason people design new coils. More flavour.

People design new coils because they look cool and this is a hobby for most of us, gives us something to do and show off.
Some people prefer certain coils over others, they can taste a difference, I can not, your results may vary from mine.

I have tried various factory coils, as well as some fancy coils I have made myself. I like twisted wire on occasion, but mostly just use plain old 22ga SS or Kanthal and the flavor couldn’t get any better.

Everyone has their preferred setup, that's what's cool about Vaping. Alot of the premades I've bought have been rubbish. And paying $15 for a pair of coils is bs! Personally I go for fused Claptons. Aliens take way too long to make and they're no good for mechs. That vamp rig you mentioned is a damn good mech!
