Recommendations for a new boxmod

Recently my Smok Alien 220w fried, it kept reading "ohms too low" even when I had a tank on or off. Tried a bunch of things but could never fix it so decide to get a new mod since it's old and dingy anyway (great mod though)

There are a lot of box mods out there and I've compared a ton of them but don't really know which is better (still pretty new to all of this) Hoping some of the guys on here can recommend me something

From what I've looked into the ones that I've decided for are these

Vaporesso Tarot nano

Picked this one because:
  • Affordable
  • in built battery (don't need to buy another 18650)
  • goes up to 80w (I usually vape around 50-80 watts anyway)
  • Replacement coils are cheap
  • Nice looks
Vaporesso Revenger TC
  • Bit more expensive than tarot
  • 220w just like my alien (don't usually vape that high but like to have the option)
  • More Battery power (2x 3000mah 18650)
Smok GX 350
  • Most expensive out of em all
  • 350w (do I really need that much?)
  • Bulcky
Smok Pro-color
  • Basically an upgrade to the alien from what I can tell
I'm trying to decide between these but can someone tell me if any off these choices are good? and if they are which one I should go for, or if I should just go ahead and buy another alien.

If you have any suggestions for a box mod that you think is better than these I'll look into it too (Although a lot of brands and mods aren't available where I live)

Out of the ones mentioned here I have none. LOL
However I will vote for the Voopoo Drag. I have a Alpha 1 and you will not be disappointed with the Gene Chip. It will do everything well out of the box.
Now I have heard very good things about the battelstar also. Just never tried it so don't want to say anything.

I have a vaporesso revenger mini and I love it. I am running a joyetech procore C3 and man, this is a trully unbelievable vaping experience!

Stay away from SMOK, too much issues out there....

From your list, I'd go with the revenger. My gf uses one and we haven't had any issues yet.

Not from your list, I'd buy a voopoo drag. I gave mine away and then bought a new one.

Edit: I've also heard great things about the smoant battlestar, but have never tried it myself. I just dont like how it looks.

if you DIY juice, THAT'S how you save money vaping, not by skimping on a MOD. For $99 you can get a DNA dual 18650. Or triple 18650 but they are gigantic in pocket, and heavy.

Out of the dual 18650 DNA mods, I would go with the vt250s for $99 from fasttech and should arrive in about 14 days (which I think is dirt cheap). Years ago when 100W mods first came out they cost about over $120 and weren't even DNA boards and no one complained about the price.

DNA board you can not only charge safely via usb but is also just a very reliable board with no bugs or glitches etc. And you can customize it (sounds like a pain in the butt to customize the settings in escribe which looks like software from 1998, and it is kinda complicated and a pain if you don't like that kinda stuff, but you can do some cool stuff with it like make your batteries only charge to 4.1 (called "max battery life" and it will make the batteries last more months but won't give you as many puffs between charges is you set it to 4.2 "max puffs". It's also safer to limit charges to 4.1V.

And the DNA mods have resale value much better than the dime a dozen non DNA mods. People see DNA and will jump all over it if you want to sell it later even if it's broken but the chip still works you'll probably get about %35 your money back so a $100 DNA mod is really only about $65 if you sell it later (or more).

I'd go with the vt250s. It can do dual 18650 @ 167W or triple mode @ 250W, and the newest DNA250 board can USB charge at 2Amps if I'm not mistaken which is 2X faster then they used to. It is also very small for a mod that can fit 6000mAh in dual mode. Batteries are cheap like $12 a pair should last about 9 months. MODs with internal batteries are garbage because in about 9 months, unless you find a tutorial and do it to-a-T on how to replace the internal battery without creating a pipe bomb, then the MOD is garbage after about 9 months, and most likely there is NO tutorial on the mod or info on what replacement $5 lipo pack battery is compatible for it.

A plus for Internal-battery mods though is that they might be able to safely USB charge even with a non-DNA chip - but don't quote me on that because nowadays some use multi cell packs for more Amps or something which means it's more than one battery which means it's not safe to use a non-DNA chip to charge it. to be honest a lot of people will say any mod is safe to USB charge but the consensus of most is that it's unsafe unless it's a DNA mod. Single battery MODs like single 18650 should be safe for any brand though, but once it adds multiple batteries, the chips needs to BALANCE charge and discharge them equally otherwise it can cause a thermal runaway or worst case blow up. I just play it safe and spend the extra $30 for a DNA mod because I'd rather charge it overnight or while driving than to keep taking the batteries out all the time to charge (also omits about $15 for a charger cost).

Here's more into ion the vt250s:

I have both the Vaporesso Revenger and the GX350. I prefer the power of the 350 and the trip batteries. It lasts me all day or nearly all day , and I tend to chain vape most of the time. I also have a few other mods and 1 custom in my rotation because I switch flavors so much I cant be bothered just switching the tanks.
I never vape over 100w, usually between 60-90 is my preference although some flavors i do go down to 45-55.

The only thing I can say I will not ever do again in a mod is internal battery. My first mod was a FLAWLESS | TUGLYFE | DNA 250w Box Mod and while i liked the mod, i hated the fact that you had to wait for it to charge rather than popping in new set of batterties. I havent touched it since my first month of vaping..expensive waste.

Im using a revenger x for the last 1 and half month. I like the grip and use the NRG as a second tank with a different liquid. My main tank is a Zeus Dual.

The core of the Vaporesso NRG tank (im using GT8) kind like sucks to me. When the shit is working, is very good, im my opinion. Nice air flow and delivers good taste. But some times the cores gets burnt in 2 or 3 days. Nowadays i use the GT8 in soft mode, try not to puff too long (what is hard to me) and uses in the low wattage possible. If i use it in the "best" wattage they indicate, the coil will burn in 3 days or in a week and half, maximum for a heavy vaper like me (if i very lucky).

But, for another side, im really enjoyng the revenger x. Think the system is easy to use. In the other hand im not 100% satisfied with the TC with my SS coils in the mod, but i can say 80%, wich is a pretty thing.

And the thing i like the most about the revenger x is the CCT mode.

It allows me to pick up the temp i want for each half second till the max of 5 secs, and works pretty well. And this is the mode i use the most. When i set the perfect puff in this mode, things go wonderfull.

As long as battery life, i use a pair of 3000 mAh. In a work day they last the hole day. When im not working, i need to use a pair and at least half of the energy of other set of batteries.

I dont know the other mods people were talking above (im from Brazil, so we just get the mods in the black market or internet, and the brazilians sites whose sells it, dont have like DNA, for example).

But im not regret with the revenger and would buy it again.

Hope this help in your choice.

Good luck and good vape.

I have the revenger x and it has been my goto mod with either the NRG tank or cascade tank with the mesh or ccell coils and have not had any problems with it at all. Love the flavor of the ccell coils at low (35-40w) and batteries last me all day and into the next., mesh coils are just a day. I have not the the problems that the previous post has had with these coils. Also with either of these tanks you can use baby beast coils and a ton of others as well..there is a post around here somewhere about them :). While I agree with the DNA choice ( I do have the paranormal) unless you can find one on sale they are a bit pricey still, but still a wise choice.

I should mention that I liked the revenger x so well that I also purchased the Polar mod as well ( make sure to update mod if interested, they fix a ton of problems)
BTW welcome!!

I'd like to try the CCell coils, but here in Brazil is just impossible to find them :/
Best, man.

As a few other members have posted, I would suggest the Voopoo Drag, I know it's not on your list, but own one and have to say it is a very good mod. I think the gene chip is very good, and I haven't heard anything bad about the mod at all. That's just my opinion
