I have begun saving up now, penny by penny. What are some sizes I should get. What's the best easiest Clapton wire to use to wrap 26 or 28?

Here is what I know I need

Kanthal
24(parallel)
26 Claptons, fc, core wire
28

Nc80
36
38

Ribbon wire, what sizes are easy for making Staples? I have been watching hella videos because I got some Staples from my buddy and I really like them. I know all about prep work, im very crafty, it's in my blood. I just now need practice.

The coils I want to start learning are fused Claptons, flat Clapton, alien, and Staples. Not framed Staples, that looks a bit to much for me to attempt this really. I am not new to building, I'm just new to building intricate builds. I am very clean with my building habits, but need some help on size recommendations.

I know that Nichrome it's superior for Clapton wrap. I don't want to build too low so I'd like to use kanthal ribbon wire.

If I have to pick, I'd say just help me out with a good start size wire for FC, and STAPLES. Thank you guys very very much

I would go with 26ga for core wire. Kanthal is lower resistance than NiChrome. (so Kanthal = less wraps per ohm) In other words, Nichrome coils will be a little bit larger than kanthal coils.

Flat wire.. most use either 0.8x0.1 or 0.5x0.1. Watch the videos and see what they are using for each build.

Thats the basics. Aside from that, watch the videos and make a shopping list. Fasttech has some good deals.

Fastech takes a calendar year. I think I'll go eBay instead.

cool. I order my larger spools from kidney puncher. Smaller spools take 10 days from fasttech, I pay the $1.75 shipping so I can track the package. Most of the problem I ever had was waiting for the item to clear Canadian Customs.

Zombie if you hit the post your builds thread there are roughly 320 pages now of people posting builds and stating (a lot of the time) what they used to make that build.

http://vapingunderground.com/threads/post-your-builds.737/

This is the best way to get a feel for it - thread is not just for the super instagram coil porn worthy builds but rather the encouragement of builders along their journey :)

But short of doing that:

26,28,30,36,38,40 are common gauges

Ribbon 0.3,0.4,0.5

Thanks guys. I've got a shitty Ridgid drill, I don't think it will work its not variable speed it's kinda clunky and it's old. Maybe for a very simple Clapton build but I'm not going to use it for much more than twisting. I have got to just break down and spend the money at Walmart. My buddy tried, so I'll still use it. I found a drill around here for 30. Variable speed.

I find it all depends on how many times a day you want to replace batts. The 24, 26 gauge claptons being juice hogs are also batt drainers but its your preference. I like using 28 gauge either SS or kanthal but for me been there and done that with subohming so looking for a cloudy vape thats easier on batts and fits into my STM without manipulating the coil to fit and taking up the airflow with big ID coils. I found a happy place with a 30/34 clapton in either SS, kanthal or both, get a nice 2.5mmID 5 wrap 1.4ohm that fits nice, produces a nice cloudz and easy on the batts.
Wrap wire also, the thinner the better 32 takes too long to transfer heat so more batt power used and holds the heat too long so after the vape your just cooking juice onto the coil. 34 is a nice gauge to wrap with and I've been using 34 for a while now with good results. I just placed a order with a place called Crazy Wire Company Ltd based out of the UK. They have all kinds of super fine wires, ordered some 38, 40, 44 and 46 SS and 38 kanthal along with some 29 gauge kanthal to see how that goes compared to the 30 i'm using now for my clapton core. I spent £13.45 which is just over 20 bucks CAD and free shipping for a decent amount of clapton wrap wire(5 50meter spools and a 10 meter). I prefer SS as wrap wire cause it cools faster and has less resistance than kanthal.

Just my 2 cents about the drill..have you looked into a fiskers hand drill since you wanted to just twist wires? I think they run pretty cheap on ebay.

for a wire order i would go look at the kbee shop at the bundles. if money is super tight and you just want to try building, they have a ka1 bundle that has every (even) gauge from 22 to 40 in 100ft spools for like $25. ka1 might not be ideal for some things, but that bundle (along with a spool of .3 and/or .4 ribbon if you want staple variants) will let you learn all the techniques to build whatever you want. youll run out of high gauge wrap wire pretty quick, but i think its a functional and cheap bundle/starter kit. by the time you run out of wrap wire, you should know how you feel about building and where to go next (sell some coils and buy moar wire, obviously )

Holy crap...thank you for the tip! $24 before shipping for 1,000 ft of kanthal, yes please. I see making new builds by hand again in the near future o_O

Edit: Free shipping option!

I think I'm going to get .5 ribbon ka1, 26g Nichrome and 36 or 38g Nichrome. As if today this will be my last order for a while after I'm done saving up. I was getting money by selling and coiling for some people but the very last one switched to sub OHM tanks.

I was coiling and building people in AAs decks. I don't have a job, am in middle of getting disability. I had about 7 people when I started out. 7 people would tip me to build for them. Just simple stuff. I kept Nichrome and every one seemed to love it. But like a fucking disease spreading, sub OHM tanks fucked me up.

I can't get mad, I'm a little irritated because that and picking up trash, changing yeah cans had literally been the only way I've been able to keep up. I'm having some seriously hard times now. I need prayer bad guys. I know I can make it through, I just need some help. I need God to really be there for me. I must stay positive. I have to. I got moved today clear across Cincinnati, so I won't be able to be so active at AA as I don't drive.

I ordered the 7 spools, 22, 24, 26, 28, 32, 34 guages, 100ft each, from kbeevapes. Also got some silica rope to mess with, gonna be fun!
