I’m totally green to the diy section so you know. I bought a diy kit from a reputable vendor to start with. The nic ended up being bad tasted peppery as well as like I licked an ashtray and very bad throat hit. Needless to say I learned a few valuable lessons on that venture. I’m looking for thoughts on Carolina Xtract vs xtreme nicotine. I’ll even listen to vapers tek info as well. I’d like to hear from some who have tried both if possible. What I want is no Throat hit no peppery taste no harshness smooth and neutral that doesn’t mute flavors. Thanks for the reviews in advance

Forgot to mention I’ll be vaping 3mg nic in a rta. I usually Vape boss reserve and mega melons so I’m looking for that type of nic performance clear flavors etc.

Haven't seen him lately, but @Jimi D used to get nic from Carolina Xtracts. Most of the nic I have in my freezer is from Vaperstek, I've always been happy with theirs, though I purposely buy their throat hit version. Even with that one, I never got a peppery taste.

never tried extreme, but I've tried Nude Nic, Vapertek, and a few others....I've only used Carolina for the last year, and a half...why..it's very clean, it is made in the US, it is made from actual tobacco, it is shipped with gas to keep out oxygen.the people making it have always been helpfull about anything I've asked, they are good people....it is the cleanest nic I've ever used, but since it is made from tobacco it has a slight ashy like undertone seeing as how it is made from tobacco, but it disappears when mixed with flavorings....I do use NN for nic salts though.....the peppery taste you are talking about is from old nicotine, or nic that has been exposed to alot of oxygen.

Thanks pulse for the info. That is why I ordered Carolina myself being a completely USA made product tobacco and all. It also doesn’t hurt everyone who says anything about it it’s always the cleanest they ever tried. I do like that the nic never touches the air and is packaged in gas. Xtreme is packaged in gas as well. Vaperstek also is packaged in gas as well. I’ve read a lot of vendors claiming made in us but really only cut and bottled here. Definitely a little misleading to most people I’d say. That’s not the case with Carolina though I know. I like that even the tobacco they use is USA grown tobacco. Yeah unfortunately for me my first experience wasn’t a very good one when it comes to nicotine. I had to dump a lot of juice I made that’s for sure. Out of curiosity what do you use the salts for and how do they compare to regular nicotine?

Hey huck I ran across a few of his posts and was hoping at some point he may respond actually. Thanks for stopping in by the way I dunno how to wave back unfortunately haha. Nothing wrong that you like a throat hit. I’m glad to see you’re happy with them as well. After I try these two I may try them for the heck of it tbh. I’ve seen lots of good mentioned about them very few bad. Funny thing is I never really seen anything bad ever mentioned about xtreme or Carolina which is another reason I chose them. I’m pretty excited about receiving both nics. I will say xtreme shipped out faster than Carolina did. Kudos to xtreme on that one I was impressed w the speed.

it is commonly used to be able to vape high levels of nicotime....24mg,36mg,even 50 mg...and still get a soooth hit....it is usual only used with lower watts sort of vaping not sub ohming. I'm not sure what the high temps of sub-ohming do to the nic salts need to ask around.

You can vape salts in any type of vape. The pod salts are mixed for higher mg vaping. I diy with salts at 8-9mg. You use the same mg as you would freebase nic.

Hello again Robert. Welcome to VU.
Ok good to know Letitia. Might I ask what made you choose salts over freebase nic? When you mix do you use flavors or just vape nic straight like some? Kinda curious is all cause in all honesty I never gave salts a thought. Hello again and thank you.

I started diy with salts because I don't enjoy th, smoother the better for me. I do use flavors. When I need to give my tastebuds a rest I vape about half a tank of Purlium meringue. Lightly sweet with no egginess. I primarily mix citrus juices, also other fruits.

I’m def not a fan of th either. I’ll def do a update as I get the xtreme today already got Carolina Xtract. Waiting for xtreme to do a side by side. You’re truck for resting you’re tastebuds is duly noted thanks for that one. I mix anything that sounds good. My fav mix so far is a cinnamon apple fritter it’s absolutely delicious. I was in the middle of experimenting on a recipe when I realized my nic shit the bed. Im making my own peanut butter banana and a few other things to see where it goes. Had to stop due to nic issue of course.

Also Letitia how long do the salts last if you buy them pre mixed vg pg? do they last as long or longer than freebase nic?

Salts last as long as freebase. If you mix for 6mg juice you use same percentage. I buy my salts 100mg pg base. I get them from Liquid Nicotine Wholesale.

No it is in liquid form. Again, when you order on line nicotine salts it arrives and is mixed same as freebase. There is a difference between making your salts and ordering diy nic salts.

Well I received xtreme today. Carolina hands down way better packaging. Glass amber dropper bottle wrapped in bubble wrap then a vacuum sealed bag. Then it’s put into a box wrapped in bigger bubble wrap. I see where the more expensive shipping price is going for sure. I love the amber dropper bottle. Xtreme was a little plastic jug sealed in plastic wrap wrapped in bubble wrap. Put into box then shipped. Xtreme has a batch number along w expiration date of yr from purchase. Carolina has no batch number that I seen on labeling and no exp date. Personally I’m kinda mad as per xtreme website it shows glass dropper bottles and there should be an update as to product packaging.

Carolina Xtract recommend storing in fridge and xtreme recommends storing fridge or freezer. I ask vendors on storage instructions as they should know optimal conditions for their product. Xtreme puts exp date on they’re product from what I was told is due to pg vg shelf life.

I would be just the opposite. Born on date is more important than a glass dropper bottle as I can easily transfer nic into glass from a plastic bottle.

That's what I do, as well. Majority of mine is from Vaperstek. It comes with dates and a batch #, too. I usually put that on the bottle cap when I transfer them to glass. I use the wide mouth bottles, so there's plenty of space to write it.

LOL. I don't have enough back stock to need dates yet. Going to start ordering liters next time around. Then I'll date. Only have 300ml in freezer now. At 8mg won't last long enough to get old.

It has added ingredients to make it smoother. Some recipes are also designed to deliver nic faster. Those are the ones you find in most pod systems. DIY salts are very smooth but I don't notice any difference in nic satisfaction. Some sites share their recipe for salts others don't.

Totally understandable where you’re coming from w that. I don’t have spare glass bottles as of yet due to my particular situation. I feel as though a tester should come in glass dropper bottle. Reason being you’re only testing it in smaller quantities. I purchased 120ml of Carolina and 125ml of xtreme. Carolina advises not to transfer due to exposing nic to oxygen.

While true, it will expose it to oxygen, so will opening that bottle. Granted, I do order in liters, but I always transfer large quantities. When I've opened them, up to 2 years later, they're still clear :)

No, but Rossum knows more than I do. There is a thread that discusses creating salts. I don't remember the title.

@pulsevape, and/or @Letitia9,
I have no experience with nicotine salts. How do you utilize salts, and how do you store salts?
The reason I use salts is because I can up the nic levels and the juice stays smooth and the flavor comes out clearer...when you start to up your nic levels above 12mg IMHO the flavor of the nic starts to really affect the flavor of the juice, also the throat hit goes up.....with nic salts I can have a very smooth flavorfull vape and high nic levels as well.

Very true huck but invite only using a smaller bottle so I wont be doing much opening. I couldn’t imagine buying a liter and working out of that bottle. Awesome they’re still clear that’s for sure. I’m just going by Carolinas recommendation is all def not mine as I’m new. I will transfer when I buy a bigger quantity. I’ve also read about using a gas that saves wine. Put the inert gas in the bottle which creates a barrier between the o2 and the nic. Essentially the oxygen never touches it.

Every time you open the bottle you expose your nic to air. I store mine in 30ml amber glass bottles reducing air exposure significantly.
That’s most likely what I’ll be doing myself using 30’s. I don’t go through tons of it and I’m certainly not trying to stock my freezer full. The most I would buy at a time would be a liter.

I think several of us went into panic mode with the FDA stuff, and not knowing what was going to really happen last year. Since I really only mix for me, what I have on hand right now will last me a good while. Still, I'm glad to have it on hand, but I sure wouldn't mind more space in my freezer, LOL.

Thanks for your input. Although, it didn't answer my questions, I think, I can stay with my 100mg/ml nicotine in VG, due to having my liquids at 3mg/ml.
However, my previous questions might help other members, on how to deal with nicotine salts.

I missed that whole thing. I as well only mix for myself. Lol nothing wrong w that huck. I had a bad experience first time around so I’m pretty Leary on purchasing for storage w no testing. Those that do stock up there’s nothing wrong w it. I’m happy that you had better experiences than me that’s for sure.

OK mixed up 15ml testers today using each nic. Carolina seems to be crystal clear w no smell at all. Xtreme has a very very very faint yellow tint to it. Not quite as crystal clear as Carolina. Carolina is so clear looks like water. Upon cracking both bottles I smelled absolutely nothing at all. It almost seems that Carolina has a cleaner smell if u know what I mean. Not by much but it does. It’s not really that noticeable as I had a few people sniff them. They’re thoughts were the same as mine. I’m going to mature this juice for roughly a week and will report back. So far though I’m impressed by both. Compared to my original nic select nic. They’re is no comparison these have a much cleaner smell as in all you can detect is flavorings no undertones etc. of any kind on either one. The yellow hue on xtreme is normal btw so everyone knows. It’s not a oxidized yellow as this is very hard to detect. You have to give the nic a white background in order to even notice. I’d like to thank everyone who’s commented thus far for all their help and wisdom. Glad to meet everyone. I’ll be reporting back soon w the all important FLAVOR TEST lol.

I also wanted to add real quick that these nics are cleaner than water. You smell them and they smell of nothing. When I smell water I can smell chlorine very faint but I smell it none the less. So needless to say they’re clean. I also want to say that a member on here posted a blind comparison if anyone may have missed it which had xtreme in there. Very good comparison and from what I seen it beat out vapers tek which is awesome because I know I made the right choices now. I was going to give vapers tek a shot but no need to now. Again thank you everyone and I’m sorry if my personal opinions don’t agree w you’re own. I know a lot of people tend to get butt hurt lol but hey it’s my opinion. Kinda like Chevy,Dodge, and ford. We all formed our opinions based on personal experiences and tastes. I just wanted to be able to let someone know like myself who was looking and found no info. NIC SELECT I can detect the tobacco smell in the nic with the replacement I got which is better than the first one for sure. Before and with flavorings added also the nic select has a yellow hue darker than that of xtreme.

OK ladies and gentleman I’m back to report in. Xtreme is a very good nic with a little throat hit. If you’re looking for a very clean nic with I would say a minimal throat hit I’d recommend it. Flavors come through very good it’s good quality stuff. Xtreme blows nic select out of the water I’ll tell you now. Gives you a little tickle in you’re throat but no where near enough to make you cough it’s not that harsh. When you hit it though you do get a th. The winner is def Carolina. I get better flavor from ingredients. I get absolutely no throat hit at all. Doesn’t give you the tobacco taste in you’re mouth when chain vaping. Xtreme does just a little. Carolina is smooth as butter. Using Carolina is on par w Cuttwood as far as harshness and th are concerned as well as flavor. If I may have missed some things feel free to fire away w you’re questions. Carolina is the clear cut winner hands down. If you were looking for something like me get Carolina it’s worth every penny and you will not be disappointed. I guarantee it the nic is phenomenal. I can honestly say it’s not just hype it’s the best. It’s so smooth I love it. I used a wotofo serpent smm with a parallel coil running 45-48 watts.

I don't know of a nic salts manufacturer who shares their recipe, but I can tell you that Benzoic acid (and likely other acids) is the ingredient in Nude Nicotine nic salts.

I have been searching for threads pertaining info on Carolina Xtracts, not many yet, so far this is a good start.
I bought a liter 100mg. 50/50 pg/vg from My Freedom Smokes, I will not be using it no longer, I made about 1200ml of juice, I am looking for the flavor
of the juice I mix and the nicotine to be smooth and not interfere with the flavors. My Freedom Smokes is not the one. I only bought because they are from N.C.
I was trolling the forum Eliquid Calculator someone mentioned Carolina Xtracts, went to there website ordered 500ml. 100%organicVG, yesterday
1/3/18 , we have got 7" of snow on the ground, and they said I will have it this saturday, there home office is 4.5 miles from my house. But it will
be coming from wake forest, n.c. about 2-3 hour drive.
So I was hoping if any members have used this and there thoughts and suggestions on mixing, storage, etc.
I see that RobertC80, pulsevape, have been using this nic. Wanted to know if they are, still using and there results, and anybodies results.
And BTW my 1st post and glad to be a member of Vapingunderground.
Any suggestions will be very appreciated , Thank You

still using Carolina..even though their prices went up...I have no reason to change, I haven't found a better nicotine, and the differnces in price are minimal and worth it to me to change.

I use the 100 ml vg from Carolina Xtract. It's the only nic I use. If it isn't broke I'm not looking to fix it. Just got a 500 ml bottle. I also use the inert gas blanket in the jug after I use some. Absolutely clear nic.

Carolina Xtracts is the only nicotine I use as well. Their purity and smoothness of their nic is just out of this world. Never have had a problem with peppery taste or harshness either, convinced it's because of the supercritical extraction method. Shipping is on par too, they package their bottles very well and the product shows up when its suppose to. Highly recommend them as their quality is well worth the price.
