Hey all! Very new to vaping, only 4-ish weeks in. I'll be real breif.

Started with a Brit Mini flavour tank, with a .6 and 1.2ohm coil, already used and worn out, tank had a leak, garbage. Would not pull to save my life.

Got a Melo 300 with the built in .17 ohm coils. It vapes like a mofo. Hits me hard, more than satisfies me. Does the trick to stay off the stinkies, that's forsure.

Discovered that's a lot of juice, a LOT of airflow, and un-necessary power (100-150w) want to dial it back into the MTL flavour realm.

I've got the RBA deck for the TFV8 that works with it. Any recommendations for coil builds to keep the wattage down?

I purchased an Ammit RTA, it's on the way, should be a few days. I've got 24g and 26/32g kanthal wire to wrap with it, any suggestions for a nice single coil build for some flavour at low wattage?

Also, on the fence about purcahsing an Augvape Merlin MTL, or Merlin Mini. Which would you recommend? I'm leaning towards the MTL.

Basically, am I on the right track with what I've already purchsed? I'm hoping to be in around the 30-50 watt realm with the Ammit or possibly even the TFV8 RBA, or another smaller tank. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Use the 26g to start with try a simple wrap should help keep you wattage down until your confident to try other builds

More mass in the coil(s) requires more wattage to heat so bear than in mind with whatever you build...head over to steam engine vape calculator (wire wizard) you can try out different builds in it and will give you the resistance of the build on a single coil. Bear in mind though if you go dual coil you’ll be having that resistance on most decks out there...grab a resistance reader to check it before you vape they aren’t expensive and well worth having. coil master do a kit with everything you need for building. I bought the geek vape kit and the coil master v4 coil jig sperately

MTL vs DL tricky one to answer if you like a big inhale with clouds you’ll be wanting DL....MTL simulates how you smoke on a ciggy some like that style, I personally never found I was satisfied with it. You can always get a DL tank and close airvent right down see if you like that sort of restriction

The 26/32 Clapton would be great for flavor but at lower wattages it suits and pops juice on me like crazy.but add just a few more watts and it's great.More surface area for juice to suck into the coils the more flavor. Or if you have enough room. A parallel 24 would be good too.

Well I did a few simple wraps with 24g Kanthal. Came up quite nice around the .43ohm mark, vaping at 60-70 watts. Far cry from the 120-150 with the stock TFV8 RBA. Comes up to temp much quicker too. Flavour for days.

Very happy camper. This vaping stuff is real neat :)

i suggest the cthulu MTL tank personally it's great. but your ammit would be great with 24g.. i always suggest nichrome. but kanthal is fine.. maybe six to nine wraps.. six around a three, or nine around a 2.5. never built on the ammit though. 7 wraps nichrome 24g around a 2.5mm jig is my go to build for single coil. great flavor. great vapor..i usually vape around 35 -45 watts. good luck and remember anything you're doing is better than what you were doing. keep up the great work and i hope you get as immersed in this world as we all have come to be!

i love it 24 gauge simplicity beats super sub ohm stupidity hands down. this is awesome to see because i was right where you are a few years ago but with less cool tech around, clone drippers were the only way because anything authentic and not kanger, eleaf, or joyetech cost like $150. i'd run a one wire 24 gauge parallel on a cheap copper clone mech and try a new dripper, give away, repeat. i started vaping when they first made the cigalikes, id tinker too and put hash in em to have some low key fun. any way getting back into it im about to check out squonking, if sonar hadn't came through on an awesome trade id be getting only vandy stuff rn. they have the berserker if you like mtl too. but yeah that was my poorly worded suggestion, check out vandy vapes and stay away from nichrome nickel tastes like crap and chromium oxidizes into one of the most poisonous chemicals on this planet. also be wary of regulated mods while safer for idiots they tend to have annoying flaws...
