Hello everyone,

I am wondering if it is safe to use WD-40 to oil my tube

My concern is that it is flammable. Wouldn't that be a bad idea since sometimes when pressing the tube button some spark will be initiated.

The main problem I see with using this besides the smell . Is that it is a dust and dirt magnet. Which will quickly gunk up your threads. Your best bet is to keep your mod as clean as possible and even crunchy threads will eventually wear into smoothness.

On mods I only use Mothers mag and aluminum polish for cleaning and shining.
I use Ox Guard on the threads. Can make a $2.00 clone feel like a million dollar mod.

I thought I would mention that Ox Guard not only makes your threads feel smooth but also keeps your top and bottom cap from getting stuck, keeps voltage drop at a minimum and will make your 510 connector threads last longer.
I apply it to the treads with a tooth pick, a little bit goes a long way.

PB Blaster only gets used in my workshop on mechanical things that already stink :)

On my brass tube mods I clean the threads in the 510 with a qtip with Mothers Mag polish on it. spinning it around in there.
Then I use a few clean qtip ends to get most all of the residue out then clean the 510 hole with alcohol on qtips.
Then I put a bit of electrical grease on a qtip and spread it around in there.

I do not need to do this very often.
On SS threaded mods I just clean with alcohol on a qtip.

for the big threads I will sometimes clean with Mothers polish on a bit of soft rag, the wipe with clean soft rags and follow up with alcohol on a clean bit of rag. old Tshirts work well or sweats.
Then I will put a thin film of electrical grease on them.

Usually though I just clean them with alcohol on a bit of tshirt.

Same thing for the inner workings of the switch.

Cape Cod polishing cloths and microfiber towels to make it shiny without stinking up the place and to add an invisible protective layer that keeps it shiny for almost twice as long compared to any other polishing product.

Contact spray on the contacts and screw threads by using a bit of leftover cotton to dissolve dirt and remove oxidation.

Sorry for being off topic, but had to report what just happened. Was at work cleaning a tire changing machine I use for mining tires, sat a can of PB in the center of the table and hit the wrong foot pedal. The machine clamped the can and it went off like a cat piss grenade, completely drenching me :blech: The only dry spot is where I blocked the path:giggle:
