Good day! Just thought I'd pop in for my first post and say hi to everyone, just made my account here today. Quit smoking almost 4 weeks ago after 10 years daily, about a half pack a day, give or take.

Was over at a friends place playing some video games, topic came up about quitting, I mentioned I wanted to get a vape and try it out. He gathered up his old vaping hardware, and we struck a deal. He had quit vaping months before, and I wasn't too serious about buying it, didn't think much of it either.

Got an iStick QC 200, with a crappy Brit Mini tank ontop, and a few coils for it. Also got a Melo 300, and a few bottles of 6mg e-juice for $60. I went out and purchased a TFV8 RBA for it.

From the day I started vaping I haven't had a smoke. I really wanted to for the first week, but after that I found myself turning to the vape out of instinct, the thought of smoking is slowly going away. I started playing a game of putting off my vape hits, so after a long while I can take a monster hit, and feel that craving get satisfied.

This really is a great way to quit smoking! I never thought the transition would be so 'easy' You have to really want to, and have a good personal reasons, and you must take it seriously, but it can be done!

I've joined up to share this story, and also learn up on atomizers, and coils. I still need to find what setups work for me, particularly low wattage single coil setups. I have an Ammit RTA on the way I will try with. I'm sure this forum will have all the answers I need.

Thanks for reading, all the best.

Welcome to the underground

Not every rebuildable is made equal so if you have a crap experience with one don’t give up on it. The rabbit hole is vast now before you know you’ll own a stockpile lol

Thank you. Glad you say that because my TFV8 RBA just shit the bed I believe. The isolator looks cooked, and I used it maybe 10 times? Looked like a cheap piece anyways. Oh well what can you do.

When I first started building it was in the TFV8 rba deck ....that was my first impression and I found it to be a POS ....dedicated rebuildables are the way to go for sure ;)

Loads of great flavour attys out there ...once you try squonking on a single coil 22mm RDA yeah your mind will be blown Its the difference between dvd and blue ray lol

Having said that I love RTAs and RDTAs as well I’m actually excited for you here, you get to adventure and try it all out and before you know it it’ll become a hobby (well it did for me anyway). And when your happy with the gear you have theres DIY mixing to try out as well that is just as much a rabbit hole as trying gear out is

Any questions don’t hesitate to ask although do have a search about chances are someone has asked the same questions before especially the what’s the best ......questions hehe!

Well from what I've gathered the QC, and issues I'm having with the TFV8 RBA is far too common. I'm excited for my Ammit RTA to show up, that will be nice :) I do believe it's becoming quite the hobby, a lot of the money I would have been spending on smokes, I'm spending on e-juice and gear. I did order another TFV8 RBA (Fingers crossed) But I've got my eyes on the Augvape Merlin Mini, or might wait to get a Merlin MTL.

Have a read into DIY mixing at some point you’ll save yourself a bunch of money it’s so much cheaper! And just think all that extra money saved you get to buy new shiny stuff

Never did get the merlin mini although I do admit I’m an augvape fan yet to try an atty from them I didn’t like recently got the boreas v2 that’s pretty slick as well sounds like the merlin will be up your street though as it’s single coil

Got my RBA working again, needed to space out the bottom pin a bit, wasn't making contact with the 510 connector. Wrapped up some 24g Kanthal, just having a wonderful time :)

Enjoying the 60-70w vapes at .43ohms. It's amazing how much different the vape is that with the stock RBA, or the Melo sextuple coils. Flavour for days!

Wow, I'm officially sold on this vaping business! Just came back from a night out, drinks got flowing pretty good. First time in a while for me, got a little extra buzzed haha.

I clung to my vape all night, and it worked a charm. Anyone who smokes and drinks know how well they go together, and for my first time drinking since I quit smoking, I was surprised how well my vape filled the void. Went through a tank and a half of vanilla but I don't regret it.

My only complaint was not having a safe place for it. Lighters can handle anything, and a pack of smokes is easy enough to shove in your pocket and get half crushed. I was afraid it would fly out of my hand haha.

Was so nice being able to vape inside. Place we were at was non-smoking, and he doesn't vape, but he didn't care about my vaping, even said the vanilla smelled good.

I was worried about lighting up on a night out, but it looks like vaping really is up to the task!

TL;DR

Vaping is AWESOME! Way more powerful than I first thought!
