Hi guys,
Just wanted to know if anyone can point me in the direction of a bit more detail on how liquid nicotine is produced/manufactured? Not really interested in Diy (not just yet anyway), more looking for details on the process used and contents of the liquid nicotine solution.
Thanks in advance!
Update: does anyone use tobacco free nicotine? If so how does it compare to non-synthesized tobacco?

Nicotine is an alkaloid, which is difficult to extract from the plant material by methods such as maceration (soaking) in a solvent. A process such as supercritical CO2 extraction is used which carefully controls both pressure and temperature in order to get the most return (strength/quantity) from the plant material. This also has the benefit of leaving little to none of the solvent in what is extracted. Commercially available nicotine is a dilution of pure nicotine in either propylene glycol or vegetable-derived glycerin, or a combination of both.

Nicotine for ejuice and other uses, like pharmaceutical NRT, i.e. nicotine patches, gum, etc., is extracted as VaporCat noted. It is extracted from the rustica tobacco plant, this is not the plant used to make smoking tobacco. The one used to make regular smoking tobacco has to little nicotine content to be a viable candidate. The rutisca plant contains too much nicotine to be used as a smoking tobacco. Though Native American Shamans smoked it to produce visions. While "synthetic" nicotine has dropped in price lately, it's still around 4 to 5 times more expensive than extracted nicotine. So you likely won't find to many people that use it and can give you a fair comparison. Anyway, just a little additional info.
