Anyone else in a whim grab an old device then remember how good it was and wonder why you stopped using it?

For me today it was the aromamizer rta. I know many dislike this rta, (the original) but it always performed for me really well. Anyways I wicked the sucker up, through some juice in it and bamo, still vapes like a champ for me.

I keep an old 306 atty, a 510 atty, and even a CE2 around and they catch my eye from time to time. But I leave them where they are. Not only have they reached antique status, but I'd probably have to go back to 24 mg juice just to be satisfied.

I gave up the shiney-itis just over a year ago, but I've got my 'Mizer and my Supreme sitting here next to me, though both untouched in a couple months. No complaints on either from me.

I never followed the drama over who first developed the "juice under the deck floor" idea, but it's nearly the greatest thing since sliced bread (to me)... even I can't bork the wicking on these. :D

I'd use them more often, but I prefer the simplicity of single coil builds.
Still... hmmmm, it has been a while. ;)

(Did you keep the OG's airflow control vapeband? :p )

The Aromamizer RTA was my first experience with a tank that vaped as good as some drippers and it changed my vape style. That was with its typical dual coil setup. Never could get it to not leak while vaping well so I just accepted I couldn't turn it on its side with juice in it. It still rocked my world :)

Since then I've got into Rose V3's, UTA2's and Taifun GT3's. A little while back I looked at one of my AR RDTAs and gave it some thought. This was the result:

Works for me but I know it's not going to be the next big thing in vaping. That's OK though, I can live with that. Vapes great even though it still doesn't like to be turned sideways.

Vaping is what it is ... and sometimes an old Aromamizer can be taught a new trick

I never had a problem with excess coming up through the deck holes... but then again, I never tried to leave them horizontal for any length of time. ;)

I've seen various single coil builds for them (good job), and I've got the adaptor plug around here in some box or another (as well as the one for my Bellus) but I keep forgetting about them. :D

Dug out the old og Arctic, bottom fill, 2.5ml, long narrow drip tip, and 4 little airflow holes. Much more restrictive than today's tanks but still definitely a sub ohm tank with moderate to good cloud production.

Far more similar to smoking than a tfv8 cloud beast or similar. Good thing, since mtl vaping never worked for me.

Then there's the old ipv 3 Li and d3. These mods were simple, and dead reliable.

Not sure that sub ohm with pre built has improved as much as rebuildables. Top fill is more convenient, but the old tanks didn't have the leaking and spitback and vapor lock we sometimes see today.

I still use my ipv d2 mod. It works great. Of course, I only use power, but hey, it works for my needs.

I kinda have this feeling when I use one of my original Coolfire IVs... the first of which I got well over 2 yrs ago, the 2nd and 3rd of which I bought to mark my very first no-smoke-a-versary, in July 2015 -- the shape feels so perfect in the hand; the newer CF4 TC-75w-18650s have the same shape, but they're a smidge larger, and a good deal heavier -- the weight of one of those WITHOUT a battery in it, is roughly the same as the internal-battery original CF4. My only gripe with any of them is only being able to change the wattage in .5w increments. I'm sure not a big deal to those of you vaping at 50w, 100w, or gack, even more... but for those of us who vape at <10w, half a watt is a big change. I generally vape around 9.5w... but with my Minibooks or iPV Minis, I can vary from 9.4w to 9.6w, for a slight increase, or reverse of that, when my asthma is troublesome and I need a slight decrease.

The way this atty is designed makes it almost impossible to flood while vertical, but I think the same thing makes it hard to keep from flooding when horizontal while not causing dry hits when vertical.

I never knew they had single coil inserts, thanks for that! Just ordered 2. It will be interesting to see which setup is better :)

When you spread out the tails to cover the deck holes (don't poke them in there) and they get juiced up, they become lightly glued to the flat deck surface.
I think unless you knock the rig over forcefully, or have an air leak somewhere... the juice won't readily flow up the wicks even laying on its' side.

To a degree, and for a while. ;)

Oh I hear ya and I tried that Jim. The problem with this atty is the window between enough wick to seal the juice holes when horizontal and not too much wick to choke off flow when vaping is really tight. I tried and gave up on it. OTOH, it vapes so well I just accept it and keep it vertical :)

Right now I have an IB Tanked carto tank on a Sigelei Zmax V5 and man is that a nice vape.....for me. Course its pretty restricted by todays standards and might raise an eyebrow or two at a vape shop....what the hell. Nice to come back full circle. A great setup for sitting back in the Vape Lair.

I agree, it's a great vape! I used cartotanks for quite a few months; it was only when I started making my gunk monster strawberry & cream that I had to move to exclusively rebuildables.
