Hi All, Anthony Vapes back here with a text review and video link here
for my honest review of the Smok T-Priv Kit.
Disclaimer: this product was sent to me for the purpose of this review from elementvape.com

Introduction:
The Smok T-priv Kit, is a 220 watt mod dual 18650 mod with included Big Baby Beast Tank. I’m glad they included the big baby at least instead of the baby like the alien kit, although a full size TFV8 would probably match the mod better, the Big baby beast is probably a better option for most vapers. The mod features a large LED that shines through holes cut into the body. It’s a bigger rounded of box style then the alien but also much heavier with a top screen instead of the side screen. This mod won a vote online from smok as to what mod they were going to produce next.

Initial Impressions and features
When I first got this Kit, I was pretty impressed with the looks and feel and of it. The build quality is really nice it’s a solid metal device with very little plastic on it. The LEDs are nice and bright. The coloring is beautiful as is the matching tank. It has the typical smok menu so easy to use and the firebar feels really good. It’s limited to 26mm attys unless you use a heat sink due to the beveled edge along the screen. It has a top screen like the G320 or GX350 and not the side screen of the alien. It’s not as big as the alien, but it packs more than enough information.

Watt Mode Performance
Let’s get into some data. Resistances for this mod’s testing were done at .11, .15, .21 and .56 for the high resistance test. The mod read resistance accurate and locks it in. The wattage testing points were max watts (220), 200, 175, 150, 125, 100, 75, 50, and 25. At .11 ohms the mod maxed out at 213 watts and 44 amps. Very impressed with the Amp limit as usual from smok. They typically run 40+ in their dual mods which is above average. During the tests 150 and over it hit low 5-7 watts, under 150 it hit low 1 to 3 watts except at 25 where it was 1 watt high. At the .15 test it maxed out at 215 watts. Outside of the max, it was never off by more than 2 watts. For the .21 test it maxed out at 171 watts and was never more then 2 watts off except at 150 where it hit 4 watts high. The max volts at .21 was 5.996 which seems to be a trend in my smok testing at the .20ish resistance. For the high resistance test of .56 it maxed out at 89 watts and 7.048 volts. Once i was under the volt limit, it was never off by more than 3 watts. My max wattage overall was 215 so it pretty much meets the 220 watts promised. It’s possible with a .17 coil it could achieve or pass the 220 watts. The max amps (44) i got from my testing was on the high side for dual battery mods. Smok mods typically have a high amp limit. The 7.048 volts is pretty average for a dual battery mod and nothing impressive. The mod never got hot in my testing or even warm. It did great at not overheating even when the chip was pushed to it’s limits and ran very cool. The output is smooth and consistent. Overall it performs excellent in power mode Mostly being off by 3 watts or less at any resistance. It’s clear that these mods were designed to use with their supertanks that have really low resistance coils (typically .15 or less) and require high wattages.

Temperature Control
Using SS316 wire in SS mode. I tested 7 builds ranging from single round spaced single and dual coils, to fancy single coils and Fancy dual coils. While i feel it is an improvement from their previous mods in the sense that at times I was able to get a decent vape, It was too inconsistent and throttled back too hard for me to consider it passable. I actually got a decent temp control vape for my video but the thing is, swap the batteries or take off the atty, let it sit for 20 mins put it back on and bam terrible vape or burnt cotton. I really think they need to work on their temp control to get it consistent. I find it pretty sad that the 3 largest mod manufacturers all can’t make a good temp control mod, but yet many smaller one’s can. It’s really holding back temp control from being more mainstream. I’d like to see it improved and for TC coil options in more tanks using SS wire. But for now the t-priv will get a failing grade from me it’s almost passable but the inconsistency nets it a fail.

Other Usage Notes
The 510 pin on the mod is really good. I decided to run a non scientific test on it. I’ve seen a few aliens around here with 510 pins that broke completely off and snapped off the ground wire. So what i did was i put a tank on it and I twisted the hell out of it until the 510 pin “popped” and spun around freely. I fully expected that to be it for the mod until i repaired it, but funny enough it still worked, but alas my tank was stuck on it. So i took it apart to get the tank off and inside i found the 510 to be like the revenger and secured from the inside, not with a locking nut but with the inside being too large to pop out from the hole in the enclosure. This time around instead of soldering the ground to the 510 itself, they soldered it to an eyelet connector (also referred to as an anti spin tab) so spinning the 510 doesn't break off the ground wire like with the alien. Using a pair of needle nose pliers i was able to hold the 510 in place and remove the overtightened tank from the 510 and it’s worked perfect since with no issues. Moral of the story? It’s a good 510 pin and the mod won’t break if you overtighten it, but still don’t overtighten your tank. The mod is very heavy and solid feeling, similar to the tesla nano 120. The body is one solid thick piece of metal (likely zinc alloy) The LED is one large light panel that shines through all the precut holes on the body. It has a futuristic type look to the mod. It’s one of the bigger dual battery mods out there as well with a rounded off rectangle shape. Also small note, the + and - buttons do rattle a bit.

Big Baby Beast Tank
Ok so let’s go over the included tank with the kit. I’ll be really brief. The big baby beast has been reviewed to death and it seems almost every vaper has one. This isn’t my 1st either. I got my first big baby beast late December 2016/Early January 2017 when i purchased the G320 kit. I have pretty much all the smok tanks the baby, big baby, TFV8, TFV12. And multiples of them. They are good tanks. In regards to the big baby beast it’s an above average tank for the watt range. I also have most tanks that takes those style coils including the revenger, frogman, vapefly fantasy mini, ello, gnome, and procore aeries. I don’t have the ijoy exo x but i have tried their coils as well. The smok coils are above average and perform well but are overrated so stick to the lowest recommended wattage on most. Never got past the recommended wattage. The tank itself has a large 5ml capacity, standard 810 tip, dual adjustable bottom airflow, and swivel back top fill design. Outside of the fill hole being on the small side for unicorn bottles, I don’t have any complaints about the tank itself. And of course it matches the mod in the kit and has a bajillion color options like most smok products.

Conclusion
So with all that said, do I recommend this kit or not? I don’t like to do hard yes or no. As a temp control mod i’m gonna lean heavily towards the no. While it is improved from some other smok mods, it’s still not good enough to earn my recommendation. As a power mode mod i’m gonna lean heavily towards the yes. It’s a really well built mod, it’s inexpensive, it looks cool and performs well and accurately rated. It’s also worth getting in the kit as the big baby beast is a very good mid watt range sub ohm tank that’s been on my sheet for quite some time. I’ll also be adding in the t-priv as a watt mode mod on my list. This is Anthony Vapes just keeping it honest, hopefully you all can say the same and i’ll catch you on my next review.

For good recommendations feel free to check out my google sheet of recommendations located here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1c4MZ2xYBE-1-0A6rLYY46OHtzHCM-roJINpxghmhzXM/edit?usp=sharing this sheet will be updated regularly so feel free to bookmark it.

Again I want to thank elementvape for sending me this for the purpose of this review. They have it for 59.95 in the kit version here https://www.elementvape.com/smok-t-priv-220w-tc-starter-kit with 12 colors in stock. I want to thank you guys for reading (or watching or both).
