How long have you owned the Smok Alien 220W for?

I have recently bought myself a Smok Alien 220W (I've got the A version - Smoktech website says it's a batch from April/2017) and all looks fine so far.

However after reading so many complaints from people having all sort of issues with this mod (fried board, fire from airflow, "don't abuse protects" message, etc) it got me thinking that I should have researched a bit more before I bought it... but since it's a bit too late now, it would at least give me (and other Alien owners) some peace of mind (or maybe not) to hear experiences from those who have had this mod for some time.

So my questions are:

1. How long have owned this mod for?
2. Is it version A or B?
3. Does the painting feel thin or thick? Any issues with painting?
4. Ever smoked from air holes (mod, not tank)?
5. Do you feel batteries get warmer than they should when vaping at around 40watts and/or 8 amps?
6. Do you feel safe having it in stand-by mode 24hs?

--------------
PS. I will start by answering my own questions here:
1. Owned it for about 2 weeks
2. Version A with upgraded firmware V1.3.2
3. Paint feels thick and durable / no chips
4. Never
5. Yes, warmer than the Eleaf Stick Pico I've had (with same tank = Ammit single coil 0.5ohms @ 40watts)
6. Not really after reading about issues - usually switch it off under power mode

Thanks in advance for your input and hope your answers will help not only me but others as well :)

I've had one since about a month after release date (don't remember when that was, but ~6 months).
A version updated to 1.3.2
Paint still looks new and yes, it has been outside the house in a pocket
If I don't inhale sufficiently to clear the chamber I've seen a little vapor come out the airflow slots.
Never felt the batteries getting warm in it.
I leave it in standby mode for weeks, so overnight is not a big deal to me.

1 Since Dec 6th so 9 months of it being my only mod
2 A upgraded to 1.3.2
3 Um it feels like paint? And the only issues I had were completely my fault. I'm a klutzo. :p
4 nope
5 nope
6 I didn't have an external batt charger till 3 months ago... I left it in standby mode for 6 months while charging via external usb... NO issues at all whatsoever. :)

As to the last part, I in no way, shape, or form condone this for anyone else to do... I just didn't have the funds to purchase a batt charger and worked with what I had available. Do so at your own risk... AND DON"T BLAME ECIG COMPANIES IF YOUR SHIT BLOWS UP! Take responsibility for your own damn actions!!! :cuss2::soapbox:

I think by smoke coming out of the air holes he means actual smoke from the vent holes. There have been a few reports of the alien catching fire.

1. I bought my first one used in the hardware thread here in November '16 and have since acquired two more, another used one and a new one.
2. All v1, I haven't upgraded anything. (I'm kinda lazy in that respect.)
3. Paint jobs suck on Aliens IMO, but the new one is holding up nicely.
4. No
5. Not with any of mine.
6. Never done it, always use an external charger.

I had it for 3 1/2 months before it just...... Died. I cried. Honestly.

2. Is it version A or B? A

3. Does the painting feel thin or thick? Any issues with painting?
I had the black with splatter white paint on it. The white kept coming off.

4. Ever smoked from air holes (mod, not tank)?
Nope.

5. Do you feel batteries get warmer than they should when vaping at around 40watts and/or 8 amps?
Yes, at times.

6. Do you feel safe having it in stand-by mode 24hs?
I guess?

Mine just recently died, so I had to quickly replace it with a KangerTech 120w. Not bad as a quick fixer upper, and cheap too. Only paid $35 for it? But I just got my new Frankenskull Squonker in the mail and got the X2O Kronos as a mini hitter, so even if the Kangertech eats it too I have back ups galore.

Yeah, like mine. Mine only smoked after the flames were out. :D

Got mine right when they came out. Still use it daily. Paint is almost all gone, original firmware. I still use it everyday, no issues with excessive heat from. Batteries or mod. Works great. It's always on, as a matter of fact, it hasn't been turned off in probably 3-4 months. It stays on my nightstand, I just charge that mod via USB. I would have no issues getting another if this one dies.

1. I have the AL 85, the baby of the family.
2. Damned if I know
3. It hasn't flaked off. It's got a few small spots scraped off but that's from bouncing around in my car holder.
4. Never
5. It's a single battery and because I keep the same tank on it, I'm always right around 40-45 w. Never gets hot.
6. For the most part. Sometimes I'll turn it off, but not too often.

I love the size of AL 85, it's great for work or when I'm out. I'll probably replace if I can get a decent deal on it.

Have you had any issues with the battery in the AL85? I have one, and my Bedwarmer has one as well, and my AL85 seems to have major battery issues. I will just put a newly charged battery in and it will tell me to switch batteries or change them. And I never ever charged in the Al85. Never.

I've had mine since feb, so around 7 months and it's version b. Any errors on the screen were legit, coil leads not making good contact etc. The one I have the most trouble with is my avocado 24 ba clone, juice gets down the center pin and starts messing with resistance. Removing the center pin (fairly long since it's rdta) and cleaning it solves that issue. Batteries don't seem to get hot, I use samsung 25r's and 30q's. Depending which rta/rda watts vary from 36w-75w. I'm at around 50k+ puffs on it, works same as it did new. Paint is ok, similar to most - they can't seem to paint mods for shit regardless of the company. I have a couple small spots on top where it looks like the paint bubbled and peeled up, almost like nicks which is odd because it's never been dropped, never had an atty dropped on it or anything else. Also a small chip on the edge by the battery door which again is odd. It's lived in a silicone sleeve since day 1. I haven't updated the chip, I'm a firm believer in 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. About the only real wear aside from smudged screen and fine scratches from wiping it with paper towels is the fire button. If I push it side to side near the top there's a faint 'click' with just the tiniest bit of play but it doesn't rattle or anything.

It's been solid for me and reliable, I always leave it in standby. The only time it shuts off is when swapping batteries. I like the size, shape, handfeel etc. If anything I wish the temp control worked better. If it did I'd have bought another. That and wish they'd have moved the 510 back a bit. The mod is nice and rounded at the ends, a 24mm atty comes right to the front edge but there's still plenty of room to the sides and toward the firing bar. If they'd moved that 510 back a little it would have been capable of larger atty's and still looked awesome.
