Never would have dawned on me to try that. Kudos for creativity.

Another quick question. With an RTA should I use 50/50 or max vg liquid? I'm attempting to build on my Cleito 120 RTA again just to get the hang of wicking again before I go out and make another purchase for a dedicated RTA. I did one yesterday that immediately burnt but I rewicked today and think I've got it right. I tried 50/50 first and it almost seems overwhelming in the flavor dept. but it's wicking great.

I prefer 70 or 80vg. 50/50 is pretty thin for that style of tank, you will be filling more often. Higher vg will smooth out your hit. Also makes it less prone to leaking.

Thanks, that's what I thought but with all the burning issues I've had lately I'm second guessing everything I thought I knew.

The wotofo smm is the best rta I have used. You can buy premade coils that you tighten two screws to hold in just as easy as that. There is no other rta as easy as this one to add premade coils to. And for the flavor out of all the other tanks nothing I have had is better for flavor.

Just a follow up, I got my dedicated rta today (after reading and researching in several places I ended up going with the kylin after all, seems the leaking issues seemed to be limited to the first run and the v2 doesn't have the same issues). Wow! Best vape I've ever experienced. Flavor like I've never imagined and clouds for days. So far I'm only using cheap coils and cheap cotton as I didn't wanna risk burning up good stuff on my first try. I can only imagine how good it'll be when I install the stainless steel staggerton coils I bought.

It's great that you found something you like.
I'm sure you'll notice a great improvement once you get higher quality coils and wicking in it.

I'm at my wit's end with my smok alien 220w with baby beast tank! I just burned through a whole 5 pack of coils due to the fact they WILL NOT ABSORB EJUICE!! can't take it anymore in a major nicotine fit from hell need advice ASAP I tried poking tiny holes in the sides of the coils with a sewing needle still get burnt cotton taste I really am considering switching back to cigarettes cuz I can't take much more of this I need nicotine cuz of PTSD and night terrors and anxiety it causes insomnia and the only way sadly to keep me calm 100% is nicotine please somebody help before I switch back to cigs

Since you didn't provide what type of juice you are using or your settings I am just going to speculate.
I am speculating you are using juice that is high VG and potentially really sweet and or high flavor percentages.
The high flavor percentages and super sweet juices shorten coil life dramatically.
As well as dairy and bakery types of juices.
The baby Beast coils are fine with high VG but adding the others mentioned to it can potentially have an added coil life shortening with everything combined sometimes.
Try a different juice.
Also maybe your settings are higher than the coil can handle.
Try turning the wattage down a bit to see if that makes any difference.

So I have a question, now that I'm using an rta, if I have coils I like and want to stick with, how do I know when the coils themselves are bad? Obviously, it's pretty obvious when I need to rewick but so far haven't needed new coils so I'm just curious what the signs are of worn out coils for future reference.

Coil/s seem to not clean up after cleaning and dry firing, if the wire of the coil/s itself/themselves is snapped in two to me would indicate no more use. A few have indicated having coil set ups last them six months or more. They undoubtedly keep them clean and maintained with tweaking, tuning the coil/s up. Beyond these basic guides not sure I'm providing a good response. Perhaps another will. :)

What type of build-gauge-wire are you using ?

Oh, btw, on the topic of my Smok gx350 that was reading resistance incorrectly, I've discovered something that I can't explain at all. If I put my tfv12 on it, with any atomizer, it reads it incorrectly. But if I put any other tank on it reads it fine. However, it's not the tank because if I put that tfv12 on my rx200 it reads just fine on that. Figure that one out! Lol

That's how I first started with pre made coils. Bought a coil master kit some various types of wire/ gauges etc..and started building my own. The pre-made coils I got were good coils but I wasn't satisfied with them. I found out they didn't fit my style of Vaping. If I feel a degrade in performance I just build new ones. Never really kept track of how long my coils last. Off the top of my head I'd say at least a month sometimes two.

As for pre made coils they are usually pretty solid. For certain you will get a lot more use out of them than standard sub -ohm factory coils. After a while the coils will degrade with constant use and gunk will build up. You will notice a different taste when they need to be changed.

Merely chiming in to agree. Stainless steel coils ought to do for a good while too considering they'll curb gunk build up to some degree, being stainless. I like dry burning a few pulses on my coils when I swap out wicks. That usually can cut most gunk away, though some residue will continually hang on.

You can find affordable coil jigs. I like to use these guys for Kanthal. They also have Ni wire. I would suggest using stainless steel from here, tell them you know Stu has good steel. If you set up to build your own coils be sure you get an oHm meter for testing prior to slapping a deck on a mod and firing off a bomb. I've got one like this unit.

You of course, don't need to buy from anyone I list here. These are only places I shop and not had any great difficulty with dealings. It was kind of neat, Fast tech shipped me a brand new deck as one I had come was DOA. Thought for sure they would require sending the junk one back. Nah, just sent me a fresh new one. You I'm sure have your own vendors you buy from.
