My new Smok Alien.... :)

Knock on wood but so far mine's holding up. A little over 5mo old, 25k puffs and I've reset the puff counter a couple times on it, I'm sure it's got closer to 35-40k puffs on it. I've kept mine in a silicone sleeve since I got it, still can't keep the paint from peeling. Nowhere near as bad as my isticks (which had no sleeve) but surprised it's wearing at all. Mostly around the edges of the various panels, where the plastic trim meets the screen and the sticker panel on the flip side, a small nick on the bottom (again curious because it lives in the sleeve outside of battery changes) and along the edges surrounding the fire bar. Oh and a couple small nicks on top which I have no idea because it's not where the atomizer sits, just on the flat surface.

Just demoted mine to backup duty. Picked up a vaporesso revenger. Other then the paint on the alien, it was good to me. Hope yours gives you a long and trouble free life.

I got min in December, Its my only mod (sue me I'm broke more often than not) and its held up very well. over 100k puffs (including the resets) and numerous drops. Not so much as a broken glass on my tanks! :D:D Even the paint is ok! I mean yeah some scratches and nicks, can't avoid that with drops, but not the pain't loss most folks have been having. I LOVE my Alien and its my wish for you to love yours as much as I do mine!:):)

Definitely not suggesting it's the case with everyone's alien problems but a lot of people have mentioned that when they take theirs apart trying to fix it they find ejuice inside the mod. I wonder if that's part of what causes many of the issues considering so many people pick up the kit and use theirs with the smok tanks. A lot of folks complain about their smok baby, big baby, or whatever leaking. Just thinking hmm, kit, tank with kit is prone to leaking, several dead mods with juice inside..

Mine's never been used with a smok tank, I got it as a mod only and it's only been paired with my rta's or rdta. They've leaked a couple times but I notice right away and grab a rag or paper towel, pull the atomizer off and immediately start wiping it down especially around the vent holes and 510. I also wipe off the 510 and down into the threads every time I rewick and pull the atomizer off. I've never lost a whole tank of juice though like a lot of folks seem to report when their smok tanks don't seal real good.

Somehow I ended up with 3 of them, one my wife uses, one my fatherinlaw uses, the other is my work beater. I've had no issues with any of them, the one I use has a rough, dirty life being I work in a truck garage. Even though I have moved on to higher end devices at home, my little alien has impressed me and when it does finally shit the bed I'll miss it.

Sweeeet!!!
I was torn between the gold and silver.. but I really dont care for the design pattern around the OLED.. and it's less noticable with all silver..
But been vaping on mine constantly since i got it.. used both VW and TC and several different tanks.. It's more powerful then my wismec rx200s.. with same tanks and atty, i had to back down on the watts.. same tank, 60w on the wismec and 40w on the smok...
So, I am LOVING this mod...... :hearts:

I hear you! I know about being broke most of the time. I had to take out of the grocery money to get my Hohmwrecker and it's the only top line mod I own so far. I've got some little iSticks, but they're pretty much glorified Egos in a different form factor. Those little things are tough, though. One of em is over a year old and the paint still looks brand new.

I wanted an alien for a long time but I kept reading about all the people that were having trouble with em and just got scared. If I was in a position to have several mods I would probably take a chance, but as it is, I can't risk getting a dud.

To be honest, they are all made in China, and I think the odds of getting a piece of shit is about even, regardless of which brand.
That's why I always check warranty and return policy... I wouldn't be surprised if they are all made at the same factory.. just different specs..

Actually, the Hohmwrecker is designed and built in California. Only the chip is made in China.

The Smoant Battlestar is made in China, but I've only read of one instance of somebody having trouble with it and I'm not sure that wasn't user error. It's built like a tank, tc works awesome on it, and it's one of the most accurate mods on the market. It sells for about the same as the alien.

If one company can build a quality, lower priced mod, they all SHOULD be able to, but it's not the case.

I agree, you should be able to get reliable mods for the price they ask.. and it's a real PITA to have to send defective stuff back.
With all that said, I have to wonder how some guys treat their stuff... LOL

Read great things about the OhmWrecker.. they are expensive, which is fine for their quality.. I dont like the tiny oled screen though..
i am totally spoiled by the horizontal, large screens where u dont have to tilt the mod to read.. plus, i wear glasses, so the small print is hard for me to read....

As an owner of both Aliens and HohmWreckers, if my Alien died tomorrow(been using it for 8mo+) I'd replace it with another G2. If my G2 died, I'd have another ordered before day's end.
$65 for a G2 vs. $40 for an Alien is a non-issue, having used both. Just food for thought.

But congrats on the Alien. My wife claimed the silver one the day it arrived, and I've been jealous ever since lol.

Congrats on your Alien. I have 2, and for 6 months they have worked flawlessly. I would recommend a silicone sleeve if you take it outside a lot or for work.

Hey, I did a google search for the G2.. but can only find it 4 sale on their website 4 $130.... whats the difference between the limited edition
and the standard one? Also, it looks like they did a chip upgrade?

If I remember correctly, it's the finishes and in-unit charge rate, on standard vs limited edition. You can find a coupon code sales for G2's at Vapor Cube, or catch a sale at Ecig.com

Also if the wrecker died and you sent it back to hohmtech they would probably fix it even if the warranty was up as long as the damage didn't look intentional.

They are constantly upgrading the firmware, the newest version I believe may have something to do with temp control, battery life indicator accuracy, and allows 171 watts even in watts mode. It's easy to upgrade with a micro USB cable and downloading the installer on their website, there are also YouTube videos showing the process.

Use code G2FLASHX1 at Vaporcube.com to get 50% off the SE. I got one from there, one from Mainevaporroom.com for $60(out of stock right now), and one from a member here.

The only difference between the SE and LE is that the symbols are machined into the LE. Neither support on-board charging. The usb port is for updates only.

Cool.. Thanks.. Have u tried hohmtech's other mod? I think it's 101w and has the same TC chip... costs way less.... I think it's
supposed to be geared more to the average consumer, not the experienced vapors....

That's the Hohm Slice, which uses a 26650. I have 3 of them, 1 red LE, a silver and a black standard. I use them at work, and an Alien at home, with Tobeco supertank 25mm's on all. My G2 is in my apocalypse stash.

Love my Slice, too. It has paint issues like the Alien, though. It does everything the G2 does up to 101W, and battery life is good using the IJOY 26650. I actually got a Slice first to check out the FSK chip, and because I wasn't enamored of the G2's looks. I was so impressed that I got a G2 for the added power. Fell in love with the G2 as soon as I opened the box lol. They really are much better looking in person.

I think I would actually prefer having the G2 for the extra power, though I have never vaped over 80w, I still like to know it's there.
Not crazy about the use of 26650 cells either.. would rather stick with devices that use 18650.. so I don't have to stock different batteries..

I typically vape in the 35-50W range, so the several Basen and Hohmgrown 26650's last me my standard 9 hour work day, sometimes and hour less if I stay planted in front of the computer all day.
Hey, that's why there is such a variety to choose from, to fit everybody's needs and aesthetic desires. I'm also a flashlight junkie, so I already have a bunch of different batteries to contend with, so checking out new devices is not limited by battery type.

That's funny.. I am also a flashaholic.. got a few dozen tactile flashlights.. mostly 18650 and CR123 clickies.. but yeah, a drawer full of batts.. so
guess it makes no sense for my to nitpick about 26650's... lol
