Alien Mod

Do I need another mod? Currently I have an eleaf ikonn 220, a kaos spectrum, and an iJoy Captain that takes 20700 batteries (18650 adapter included).

Everyone seems to rave about the Alien, but I'm wondering about that. The ikonn is more or less an alien clone. I like the clouds from the ikonn, but prefer the feel of the kaos. Not quite as impressed with the captain.

For you experienced vapers, is 3 too few? Just enough? Would you recommend that I get more batteries, instead? Sometimes I have one mod out of service because of batteries, though I do have an extra set, now.

Do any of us NEED another mod. Probably not but we keep getting them. :giggle:
Battery's you should have a married pair for each of your mods. Even my single battery mods I have a married pair for.

Asking that question here is like asking a drug dealer if you should take drugs. Lmao

I have many mods but none of them are very similar. I used to have an Alien and the feel of it is great. I replaced it with a G-Priv. I think you may want to try a Smok mod but I would get a T-Priv at this point.

I have four in my active rotation that I use every day. Which doesn't include my Alien, which caught on fire fairly recently, and my 50w Arctic Dolphin that's been shelved for now.

Yeah..I own two Smok mods and I'm looking to add a third. Definitely give them a go. Do you need it? Probably not but as I've learned, this becomes a hobby and not just a means of getting off the stinkies.. it's a bit of a money pit tbh lol I love my alien 220 tho :D

It has been nothing like dumping $20 a day on the cancer sticks. Even if I have my 5 mods not counting the two mechs. I am adding another soon I hope and still I am too the good when it comes to money. Problem is my list is always changing what is on top of my list today is not tomorrow. So far squid industries double barrel v2 mod has been on top for a while now.

Need another, that is up to you to decide. My personal opinion, don't own any Smok mods myself, and the way the Alien, G-Priv, Osub, T-Priv, GX350, and very early high powered Smok mods from 1 or 2 years ago and their trouble track record, not buying one any time soon, given I have 100watt plus Sigelei and P4U mods that are clocking in 3yrs old and still running, and still outperform Smok's latest and greatest with a proper coil in the atomizer/tank. 30plus mods from very old Innokin SVD 1.0 Gen1's and Gen2's up to my Triad, IPVs, and another 20 mech mods, never hurts to have backups for your backups. Just research your future purchases carefully, and don't jump on the hype band wagon on the first release of a new mod and wait to see what troubles and bugs need addressing and fixing first before you do finally purchase that new mod, probably at a much lower price than release ;)

I really liked my Alien until it decided to light itself on fire

The form factor is great but your not missing anything functionally that you can't get from any other 200W mod. For me the temp control was too erratic to use.

Mine was really a dud. First all the paint flaked off then it decided to self-destruct. I'll be avoiding Smok, for a while at least.

The Ikonn 220 has perfect tc. your right about the alien not having good temp control. I could not get the alien to stabilize.

If you search alien in this forum alone you'll see you are not the only who's burned up. Among a host of other issues, the alien seems to be something worth avoiding.

I currently have 15 MOD's and even more tanks RBA/RDA/RTA/RDTAs if I counted right, might be one I missed. My wish lists has even more on it which for me and MOD's wishes come true.

I have two Aliens and no problems with either one. Have to be careful what you believe, you know lots of people tell you never to charge your MOD with a USB and they tend to get quiet when you say the batteries do not come out..............

Mine worked great and I loved it. Until it didn't. Regulated mods should not burst into flames like they do. It'll be a veeeery long time before I buy another Smok product.

Ok, so I'm def NOT getting a Smok, though with the numbers they sell it's bound to happen more with them just due to sheer volume.

I really like my Kaos mod. Fits nice in my hand. Long battery life if I turn the dumb light off. Maybe I'll get another one of them.

Try checking out Smok's Facebook page and read through the comments. It's not as rare as people might like to believe, and their post-purchase customer service sucks ass. It's non-existent.

I take excellent care of my things, not to mention the finish on aliens is complete crap. Although I do love their tanks. The alien mod, meh, moved on.

I also take excellent care of my stuff. I had one Alien mod, bought one for one of my son, and have/had 5 Baby Beast/Big Big Baby Beast tanks, not to mention the 4 BB tanks I bought for my two sons. As I said, I loved them until they didn't work. The bottom pin of my BBB apparently got a worn patch on the metal, which caused the mod to short out. However, as a regulated mod, it still should NOT have burst into flames. I'm not exaggerating, there were flames coming out of the air holes on the side of the mod. If you do a search, you can find my post about it, including photos. It was only about 6 months old and otherwise in perfect, like-new shape. I very rarely even leave my house so my mods didn't, either. It was never dropped, never misused, never abused in any way, shape or form.

My issue was the 510 popping out. Didn't over tighten, cleaned often, had to repress my last alien many times to the point I was sick of it so I got a new device. However I've had no issues with the cloud beast. Hoping to move to rta/rdta in the very near future.

and that scares the shit out of me lol I'm glad you are ok..I'm honestly looking into getting another mod just to be safe..maybe I'm over-reacting but I'm HUGE on safety..and If my mod isn't safe it's time to buy a new one..

Don't get me wrong I enjoyed my aliens while I had them, but I also bought them coming into the vaping scene knowing absolutely nothing.

I honestly love my Alien 220. It was my second mod and a step up from the previous starter kit I had which was also from Smok..Basically I've had really good experience with Smok as a company and enjoy their products. But now I have it in my head that I own a time bomb.

I get that every product placed on shelves won't be 100% perfect. I myself never had an issue of my alien catching on fire or anything, but the terrible finish, the crap 510 setup, is what pushed me away.

My favorite regulated mod I own ATM is the hohmwrecker g2, highly recommend, one of the toughest regulated mods out there being milled from one piece of metal, and the best chip on the market (IMO). American designed and built, great customer service being a small company in California. Just ordered another one for my wife because she likes mine so much, she currently has used an alien for the past 3 months with 0 issues.

I also have an alien that has been my work mod for the same amount of time, It's a good little mod for the price and if it dies tomorrow it was well worth what I gave for it.

I am shaking my head thinking why you have taken something so personally? You are kidding, right?

I'm not taking it personally. My mind is boggling at your claim that the batteries can't be removed from an Alien mod.

I own all the mods you spoke of in the OP. To be honest the Kaos and Ikonn have kind out Aliened the Alien IMO. Both the Kaos and Ikonn do power mode just as well and TC mode on them is better than an Alien.

I never said I was talking about an Alien I was talking in general about MOD with built in batteries and how some of the info and complaints you see are baseless. Had a member one time all worried because people said not to use USB to charge and his MOD had built in batteries. By the way would love to see some pictures of your fried Alien but I do not feel like searching.

I have 5 Smok mods and attys and have no problems with any of them (I have had my Alien for months now). I find their products to be of the highest-quality, personally. Would I recommend their products? Yes. However, even cars sometimes come out of the factory as lemons. If that is the case, hopefully the warranty will take care of the problem.

Back on topic, I think I'll just keep the three mods I have now. At most I may get some additional batteries and I need a new atomizer for the iKonn. That's another thing: I may get another Crown III for the ikonn so that I only have to buy one type of atomizer in the future.

If I keep buying mods I'm getting the health benefits of not smoking, but I'm still spending the smoking money.

I guess you did not smoke too much or got you got your smokes cheap because at the average of $70 USD per week for me I have not even come close to spending the money I saved since I quit smoking 3 years ago.

It was around $300 a month for me. I've probably spent about $300 so far on three mods, a pen e-cig, juices, tanks, etc...

The initial outlay is pricey but if you can control yourself it's just coils and juice until you crack and buy new toys :)

Yep. This is why I'm curbing my obsession with it right now. Eventually I want to go smoke AND vape free, but one step at a time. I just want to stop smoking and prevent myself from putting on 50 pounds in the process.

OK, so you got Shinyitis faster then most do but look at it this way..... My first MOD cost me a weeks worth of smoking money and I am still using it years later with it's built in battery.

Oh I hear you. Assuming everything works out this will be way cheaper than cigarettes.

My only regret so far is in getting the Ijoy Captain with the 20700 batteries. It really reduces my versatility with the batteries.

When I first decided to quit and switched to vaping I never thought about one day quitting vaping but I did contemplate going to Zero Nicotine for a while. Then I tried it and said Fuck That and raised my Nicotine back to the 3MG on the few recipes I had at 1.5MG.

When people say to me why don't I stop vaping I say because it gives me more pleasure than smoking ever did and I have no ill effects from vaping. Now remember this is just my opinion and not based on any scientific studies.

Did you re-up the nicotine because of the taste or the addiction?

I raised the nicotine on the few recipes I had at 1.5MG because they just lacked something. Gave up on lowering my nicotine anymore and thinking I might raise it for a test to see if I vape less while having a drink at a restaurant or gathering. If I can't vape because of where I am I can go without though and no withdrawals.
