When you take a puff of an electronic cigarette – which one in five current smokers have tried -- a battery heats up a liquid that contains a flavoring (such as tobacco, menthol, cherry, vanilla, or java), a humectant (typically propylene glycol or vegetable glycerin) and, sometimes, nicotine.

Interesting link you posted in the body of your post Elberto34, I don't see however, what that article had to do with your post here at all, can you explain?

Wouldn't you experience withdrawals from a lack of nicotine?

The infographic makes some interesting health claims....

Thanks for the info. Definitely great news. I just starting vaping because I wanted to quit smoking. I started using either ecigs but didn't exactly quench my thurst for inhaling stuff lol. So I stopped and continued to smoke. About a month ago my cousin told me about vaping and the rest is history. Haven't had a cigarette for about 3 weeks and counting and enjoying all the wonderful flavors vaping has to offer.

The vamping technology of e-cigarettes does not burn anything; the liquid mixture is simply vaporized. The vapor does not hold the harmful compound found in smoke from hookahs or cigarettes. So-called “hookah pen” works like an e-cigarette. The pen vaporizes a liquid and does not involve burning.

Is vaping a healthy activity?

Compared to smoking? Absolutely. Compared to breathing just air? Maybe not, but it's very far from the worst thing a person can inhale -- such as car exhaust, diesel exhaust, industrial exhaust.... you know, the regular stuff that modern humans inhale constantly.

Heh... I love Louie Anderson's schtick about jogging, health nuts in general -- asteroid heading for earth, sees terrifically-fit runner, says, oh, let me just jog this way and miss that guy... NOT. :giggle:

People looking for eternal life need to find a sparkly guy to bite 'em on the neck. Otherwise... nobody gets outta here alive. But there's a big diff in accepting that EVERYTHING carries some risk... and inhaling 4000 toxins every waking minute.

Exactly, I think as you. It is the safe and secure method of vaping. It is less dangerous and injurious to health.

I might get the terminology incorrect though do not think I am incorrect in liking that there is no combustion involved with vaping, unless of course, ... you're really botching something a good bit. I've had wicks go poof a few times, either from too much juice ergo too much alcohol content or from accidentally having my mental gears slip and not wetting the wick/s.

With knowledge of what an e-cigarette is, how they work is very easy to understand. The battery supplies electricity to the coil of wire, and due to its resistance to the flow of electric current, it gives off heat. If you have a coil without a wick inserted and completely free from e-liquid, it literally glows as a result of this heat.

When it’s in contact with a wick that’s soaked in e-liquid, the heat given off by the coil is transferred to the e-liquid. The liquid can only take so much energy before it’s vaporized, and this is what users inhale. This process can be understood by thinking of one individual droplet, amid the sea of droplets in the e-liquid. Like a water molecule in a boiling pan, it eventually gets enough energy to free itself from its weak bond to the others and rises up.

The “vapor” is actually a collection of tiny liquid droplets, so it should technically be called an “aerosol.” That hasn’t really caught on, though – “vaping” is a good word; “aerosol-izing” (or something) doesn’t have the same ring to it.

When liquid has been “vaporized” (you know, “aerosolized”), this dries out the wick a little. In many e-cigarettes, the wick is in constant contact with extra e-liquid, so any vaporized e-liquid is immediately replaced.

If it isn’t, or if the reservoir of extra liquid is empty, the wick will slowly dry out. If you continue to try and vape, the temperature will increase (because there is no liquid to absorb the energy given off by the coil) and you might burn the wick. If there’s a small amount of liquid left, this may lead to a “dry puff,” where the liquid is overheated and starts to taste really nasty. This is basically the e-cig’s way of telling you to fill up your tank.

An e-cigarette is a battery-powered device that converts liquid nicotine into vapor which user inhales that's why it is also called Vaporizers. It doesn't burn and there is no fire. It does not contain harmful chemicals. It contains e-liquid along with nicotine. This liquid is then converted into vapors. You may check this Australian vaping site

Everything on this infographic is really informative & easy to digest.

Too bad the "In Society" section is completely out of date...

What about the strain put on lungs & respiratory tract due to constant puffing? This is identical in both conventional smoking & vaping, isn't it?

One could argue either way.

I can tell you from my experience though, I do not constantly need or desire constantly puffing on my vape. The nicotine I get using vaping is a lot more direct than from smoking in my experience. I smoked for roughly thirty five to thirty eight years, a pack to pack and a half a day.

I don't vape anywhere near that. I use 18 mg of nicotine per 1 ml of ejuice. Usually I go through about 4 ml per day. I can vape a few minutes, lay it aside a few hours. So from my experience can say I'm not constantly vaping, drawing off it like I would cigarettes.

Mileages will vary I'm sure, this is why I said it can be argued either way.

Indeed this difference in frequency between vaping & smoking would be a significant health benefit if it were constant among all smokers, but yes as you said the mileages could vary!

So are you giving vaping a fair chance, or giving it a pass? I may desire people give it a fair shot. Still no judging if they do not. From my own experience I know that I feel better vaping over smoking.

A few weeks ago I was in a position where I needed to bum smokes off someone. Three cigarettes through a day put me down hard for the next week. Back to vaping and feeling better after getting those cigarettes out of my system.

Well, I would like hear your call on it, even if nothing more than to hear it. :) We all have to find our own path/s.

Back when I smoked, but right before I switched to vaping, I coughed every morning when I woke up. I had smoked for 30 years.

I switched to vaping 3 years ago and haven't touched cigarettes since then. The smoker's cough went away about 2 weeks after I quit smoking, and I don't have any cough now.

Vaping has clearly worked for me in terms of improving my health.

I used to have bouts of coughing, vomiting up the tar out of my lungs. Smoked roughly 35 to 38 years and did tobacco in general for about forty. A wife saying "I might want you around longer", nailed that I switched to vaping. She was tired of spending so much for tobacco, tired of seeing me have those fits.

Wow its amazing to see the detailed information of a product in a single picture that describes so much information to the new users that are not capable with these products they can easily gain information from this picture information.

That's a rough look at regulated mods using a tank. I use a mechanical mod with an RDA. The mod is basically the same without any screen or computer/s in it. An RDA is like a tank without a tank.

I use a squonking device. It contains a small bottle of juice which squirts juice up into the RDA when squeezed as needed. I then fire the button which makes contact with the battery to complete the circuit for the coil. The juice is then heated to vapor.

That's a good overview of third generation vaping mods. Some have internal not swap-able batteries, others have swap-able batteries. Yes, that's it in a nutshell, then.

Example of an RDA.

528Goon_8.jpg

Some are post less but the general idea is they have a place to insert the coil leads. The coil then is said to rest, or be installed in the RDA. You wick the coil/s and put on the top cap which may or may not have a drip tip. You either squonk or drip juice into the wick of the RDA and its juice well.

An example of an RTA.

hellvape-accessories-hellvape-dead-rabbit-rta-rebuildable-tank-atomizer-3349130805284_600x.jpg

Like the RDA you put your coils into the deck by way of the posts, or post holes. The top cap though for this one creates a reservoir. You'll fill up the container with your ejuice, which then goes through slots into the wick. This kind is often refereed to as a tank. You can use sub ohm coils or not in it, either way to most of us it's a tank.

Many people like RTAs and many like RDAs. Both are atomizers. That is both are where the juice gets turned to atoms, or vapor.

There's also RSAs, which are Rebuild-able Squonking Atomizers. That means instead of using a standard 510 pin they use a capillary screw 510 pin. That allows one to squeeze the squonk bottle and get juice into the juice well and wick.

Squonk pins an example.
