"2nd mix no flavour

Hi fellow clouders. I have just tried my 2nd mix of Banoffee and just like the first the flavour is pants. I'm using base and concentrate from tmbnotes (hope I'm allowed to say the company name.) The base is a pre mix 80vg 20 pg that already has 6mg nicotine. So I thought it would be easy. The supplier advised me to use concentrate at 15-17%. First mix I did at 15% Banoffee concentrate in a 300ml mix, but messed it up buy letting it breathe and forgetting to put cap back on when I was diagnosed with cancer. No flavour. "2nd mix I increased concentrate to 17% let it breathe for 12 hours remembered to put cap on then left it to steep for 4 weeks giving it a good shake everyday. But it still has hardly any flavour. Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong? I'm Vaping with a Smok Alien with the Baby Beast tank at 55w 0.159 ohms. Only just bought it so haven't changed any settings on it.

I'm so sorry to see about your diagnosis. Stay strong!

Now... depending on the brands of flavoring, that % can be pretty high. Many mixers get better results with lower %. We're all different on that. It's worth trying at a lower %, then to increase if needed. Since you have the premix base, if the lower % happens to work out for you, you could always dilute your current mix down to a preferred taste.

I'll move this to the DIY section, where lots of people are ready and willing to help you out, too. Really friendly crowd, quite welcoming.

Happy to have you aboard, Welcome to VU

I did a quick google search on this particular brand of flavoring. Most people were mixing it from 10-20% so I think you're fine there.

Only things I can think of is...

your ratio of flavor to vg/pg/nic base is off. Are you using a calculator of some kind?

Or mix again but this time leave the cap on. I've personally never let my mixes breathe.

Good luck!

Edit: also you should try mixing smaller amounts until you get it where you like it. 10ml if you have a bottle that small.

The reason people let their mixes breathe is because one of the flavors contains alcohol or something similar. I couldn't find any info on this for banofee.

Hi Mykrein. Yes I used a calculator https://ecigvape.com/#e-liquid-calculators
Will try again with just 10ml mix. Thing is was told it takes 4 weeks to steep.

That may be true for optimal flavor but there's no harm in trying it right away. Then again in a few days. If it tastes good, vape it.
Flavor is subjective.

first thing I thought about was if you were trying to clone one of their liquids by chance using a one shot type concentrate of the flavor but I googled it to and it looks like its a flavoring only? only reason I ask is to find out if you already know what the flavor is supposed to taste like. there is a good chance if its just one of the first ones you have tried it very well may be that its a weak flavor or just not good to you but performing as intended. may be try a smaller batch first lol. thats a bummer to mix that much and not like it.

you should consider trying some flavor art flavors if you can get there where you are. not only are they delicous but you can use them at lower %. thats a good thing in many ways especially since you mentioned cancer and they dont need a 4 week steep lol vaping 2% flavoring is obviously better for you than making 20% of your mix flavoring. Flavor Art has a testing program called clearstream onward which is an ongoing program from the original clearstream reports. they test every flavor not only for harmful chemicals but the only place and anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong but the only place who test their flavors for inhalation and publishes those reports for public view. They test on 2 types of living cells I believe. knowing what it does to your insides is nice to know lol. Im not a doctor so I cant say vaping any type of flavor is safe and Im sure in about ....5......4......3........2.......1.... people are going to start chiming in on my statement but Ill just wait around till someone points me in the direction to anyone who test their flavors to the extent Flavor Art does. normally I wouldnt be so passionate about a post like this and hope you dont take offense if you are a seasoned mixer yourself but I feel like I wouldnt have done my job as an experienced mixer to not at least inform you about Flavor Art.

anyways I hope you get your flavor adjusted the way you like it just a lot of trial and error good luck and hope nothing but the best for you in the future to come :)
