I'm loving my Kanger TOGO mini

I have the SMOK Alien 220W w/baby beast tank on it.
I find this is way overkill for me.

I do 100%VG, I'm mixing my own juice. I just started with flavors. 80/20 VG/H2O

I find the alien gets a VERY HOT VAPE! Way to much for me. I drop it down to about 27W

My question is, I'm looking for cool vaping. I don't mean mint/menthol I mean the vapor needs to be cool tempurature and not hot. A little warm is ok,

What combo can you recommend? Or do I just dial down my wattage? I'm a little confused as to what to adjust.

What is a good low wattage mod, say no more than 30W or so.
Also I'm looking for a good tank. I saw one on youtube where you could open up vents on top and bottom, but I can't remember what it was. They guy said that opening the vents on top helped to cool down the vapor.

Sorry to be all over the place, but gotta ask.

What ohm coil do you have in your baby beast?

If you go with a higher ohm coil and either a longer or smaller diameter drip tip, you'll get a cooler vape.

Is it just the temp that bothered you? Or was it to much airflow? Too much vapor?

It was the temp, I was not ready for that!

uhmm.. I'm trying to remember what is installed in the alien, I think its the .4 ohm dual coil I do have a .15ohm quad coil as well.

I'll get a longer drip tip

It's not the mod. It's the tank. You can use the Alien at low wattages. My wife uses hers under 20W, with a Kangertech Toptank Mini. Other good choices might be a Nautilus, the new Vapefly Nicholas, Bachelor Nano, etc.
I don't care for a hot vape, either. I went to a good temp control mod, as the Alien doesn't really do it well.

I think I cooked my coil. Every vape tastes nasty with a side of burnt.

Will look into those tanks

It's possible. Vaping below a coil's wattage range can damage it.
I wish I could give you more recommendations, but I don't vape much below 50W. Hopefully someone who vapes more in your range will chime in.

Good luck!

The Alien is a great device, and I think all you need is a tank/coil set up that can produce good flavor at a lower wattage. I assume you direct lung vape, so I would suggest at least a .5 coil. Maybe check out the Tobeco Super Tank Mini with the .5 coil. It works great at 30-50 watts, and not too warm of a vape. You can find them at most online retailers for less than $25.00. Good luck, and welcome to VU.

I like the cool vapor myself. I'm not sure of your experience level (no judgement, I just don't know) so my advice may seem like a foreign language.

Tanks with replaceable premade coils just don't do it very well. The Crown did it best but since I've quit using it supposedly coil quality is in the toilet.

Any tank, dripper, RDTA or whatever that you build your own coils in can work. To get the most flavorful yet cool vape you will have to start building coils.

Clapton coils can vape cool fairly well but like to spitback badly. Round wire can do it to but both sacrifice a bit of flavor if you're keeping your vape cool.

However, 3 or 4 core fused claptons, 3 or 4 core aliens or well built framed staples work very will and are more mild mannered. The wire you will make your coil from is flat in profile versus round like a typical clapton or round wire coil.

Choosing the right diameter and bulk of coil versus the size of the chamber of your atomizer just comes with experience. Look for wire with cores made from 26, 28 or 30 gauge core wires. Stainless Steel 316 is readily availabe in spools where all you have to do is wrap the coil and SS give the best vape for me.

The 3 core fused clapton wire that comes on a spool from Advanced Vape Supply works very well. Some of the Chinese wire does too but you need to clean it first.

This is all assuming you are using a mod that handles temp control very well. Many mods don't despite their popularity. I've had many mods and my top choices are the Hohmwrecker G2 and the Hohmslice. However they are for experienced vapers. The Smoant Battlestar handles SS316 coils out of the box with the factory SS preset very well, better than any other mod I have tried. You don't have to start manipulating TCR values to get a great vape from it.

Getting a flavorful yet very cool vape took a lot of trial and error but that's what I like. At first it seemed flavor was lost using TC but once I learned to increase the amount of vapor and still keep it cool the flavor came back. While I'm no cloud chucker type of vaper with my setups I can get large, dense clouds of vapor full of flavor. From everything I have read lower temp vaping also the very safest way to vape. I'm rarely vaping above 420 degrees.

The right coils built well for the right atomizer on the right mod can deliver an outstanding but cool vape.

The OBS Engine Nano tank with a 5 wrap coil made from AVS 3 core 30 gauge fused clapton wire with a 3 mm ID delivers a very nice vape on a mod that handles SS TC very well. So do several other tanks I have but this single coil tank is very easy to build on and practically leak proof.

Fixed my Alien! I love it now.

All I did was switch to the other coil that was included the .15 (reading is .159) and primed it, then filled the tank. I let it sit for about 10-15 min. then started low and got up to 55W but dropped it to my sweet spot at 40W and love it. Nice and cool and no funky taste. I think I burned out the other coil or just got a bad one. Anyway all is good and I'm loving the Alien now!

Smok tanks usually run hot since they are designed for vapor production. If you're not a cloud chaser, I would purchase the cleito. Runs cooler at low wattages, coils are cheaper, last longer, does not eat up as much juice as the smok line, and the tank is cheaper. You can get one on ebay for only 15 dollars.
