I'm still making my strawberry & cream, though I've finally brought the flavoring down to somewhat saner levels, as my tastebuds have finally started waking up. Still make the cherry-vanilla pipe tobacco (in fact I mixed some of that last night, since it needs a 5-6 wk steep) and Smocha too; I'll mix some of that in a couple weeks, since it only needs about a 2-3 wk steep. gotta mix up some testers for my son who's moving back home in July, to get him off Camels -- already told him, I simply don't wanna smell that shit. :D He's fine with that, he's still completely amazed that HIS MOM QUIT SMOKING! OMG!!! :giggle:

Come over to the Refugees' thread (sequel), lots in there you'll remember, and maybe even some you don't. :)

Yeah,i remember all those recipes,i've made the smocha several times, and the strawberry & cream a few times as well, but i'm not a big strawberry juice fan,so i have to be in just the right mood for it haha.I forgot about the cherry vanilla pipe one,i copied it down, then never made it,i'll have to give that one a try.
I was the same way with my son,he was smoking, and then started vaping, but he was doing both. The problem with that was that i was paying for and making the juice he was vaping, and for the cigarettes,so i finally told him it was going to either be switch fully to vaping, quit all together,or get a job and pay for it himself, because i was not going to keep buying cigarettes when i don't smoke them anymore. That worked good on him,now if it would just work on my wife,i would be happy haha. She tried vaping a few times, but just can't get into it so she keeps smoking, hopefully one day she'll finally make it through.
Yeah,i'll definitely check that thread out,i browsed it real quick a week or so back when i was just checking everything out,and noticed several i recognized right away,so i'm sure there are several more i haven't seen yet.

At my bottom of my sig, the link to "My BEST Recipes (blog)" is where you'll find all 3; I post both my original, over-the-top strawberry & cream, and the latest iteration; I reduce flavoring percentages by a smidge every couple or three months, but the biggest reduction by far is the sweetener -- from 2.5% down to about .35% now! :giggle: I *just* made an updated mix of the cherry-vanilla pipe, but until I taste-test it, I won't post it; the one that's posted there is pretty good.

Maybe you need a new rule -- "No smoking indoors" -- being able to just sit around and vape was one of the biggest advantages, to me! :D Vaping isn't something that most folks can just get right into and drop cigs like a hot rock -- it takes a more gradual approach, and *commitment* to the idea of not smoking -- sounds like she really didn't give it much of a chance. Here's a thought: send in, for her, one of those cards that come in the mail about final expenses -- when the person shows up to discuss it, tell her, well dear, you still smoke, so you'll definitely die before me; I'm just trying to smooth out the rough edges beforehand. ;) Maybe she'll take the hint. ;)

You were the one who tipped me off, I think, that the Smocha had a really strong chocolate taste, because I really couldn't taste it, using the 2 diff TFA chocolates. I switched over to Molinberry's Glamour Chocolate in place of both of those, and bang! I could taste the chocolate in it. :giggle:

The new things I did to the cherry-vanilla pipe was to a) reduce the sweetener substantially, b) I split the 3% Vanilla Swirl into 2% VS and 1% INW shisha vanilla -- and c) also added .1% of virginia tobacco absolute -- to increase the "smokiness" factor just a smidge, without a really overpowering flavor. I'm hopeful it will be a big improvement over the current recipe.

Haha, yeah that was me,at first it had a sort of chocolate milk type taste, but it settled in pretty good after a few days.I'll have to grab some of the molinberry chocolate and give it a try with that one too.
On the cherry vanilla pipe,i'll bet that shisha vanilla takes it to a whole new level, that is the best vanilla i have ever used.I'll have to grab a couple flavors used in that one,but definitely plan to give it a try.How does the cherry come through in it though?I have the Tfa cherry extract, but haven't used it in anything yet, because i tried the maraschino cherry and it scared me away from trying any other cherry flavors haha.

I think the TFA cherry extract is the very best -- certainly the best I've tried; I call it the "goldilocks" of cherry flavors -- not too sweet nor too tart, neither medicinal nor maraschino. I didn't want the cherry to be really glaring, just a nuance, because it's not really one of my favorite flavors -- I like it sparingly, when it fits those parameters outlined above. The 4%, to me, seems just right; you can taste it and smell it, but it doesn't smack you in the face; it's subtle. I'm really hoping that shisha vanilla does something special; I haven't tried it yet, though I've had it since sometime last summer. :giggle: I think the subtleties and the relatively low level of flavoring (for one of MY recipes!) in the cherry-vanilla pipe, plus the fact that it has 2 different mild/sweet tobacco flavors, is why it needs such a long steep, to taste really good -- all aspects of it need time for the flavor to really emerge.

Actually I like maraschino cherries, but I'd probably use LorAnn's; though I do need to get some of the non-colored variety. What I've got is really for cooking and it has the deep red coloring, which I'm timothy-leary's-brother (ReallyReallyLeary (sic)) about using in vaping, though the flavor is absolutely spot-on. But I didn't think the maraschino type was appropriate for a pipe tobacco flavor.
