Real Flavors flavorings?

Has anyone tried the coconut?

I found it rather bland at 1.5% in a single flavor test, haven't done any mixing with it yet as I am trying to use up all my non-rf flavors still.

Here is an example of a mix with almost all RFSC and a total of 6.8% flavoring that has a ton of flavor:
http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/1477212/Lava Flow RFSC

Here is another with real high RF SC flavor percents - http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/1290787/Bust-a-Nut (RF ver)

This is on my short list to try and I plan to try the same recipe reducing percents proportionally down to 3.5% as well as a version more inline with the original BAN flavors at 3.5%. Not sure when I will get around to testing these.

I also have a RF SC recipe I made before at 3.6% and liked a lot that I plan to do a side by side test with the same recipe at 5% and 7% to see if going too high % can cause muting or actually help:

Soul Custardy v1.00 3.6% (RFSC)
1.75% Vanilla Custard (Real Flavors)
0.50% Cream (Real Flavors)
0.50% Graham Cracker (Real Flavors)
0.40% Butter Toffee (Real Flavors)
0.25% Bourbon (Real Flavors)
0.20% Brown Sugar (Real Flavors)
adapted from this - http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/963821/soul custardy clone v. 3

@mjag did u mix the pink candy by itself?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I think it had a little cream and the pink candy was at a low %, I think only 1.5. It was tasty as a shake n vape but then faded to no flavor at all. Will try again at a higher percentage, 3 or 4% to see what I get.

I'm excited to try that flavor and the red candy. I found a recipe that includes the pink candy but I'm missing a flavor.

If I don't mix them up tonight, I definitely will over the weekend.

Bummer, I was hoping they would be good as single flavors. Cos then I'll have to look for recipes, as I haven't ventured into mixing my own recipes. I need to follow a recipe so Real Flavors is not good for me if it has to be used in a recipe. If you come up with something to do with Cinnamon Roll could you please share? Thanks
There are some that do like there flavors by themselves. They can be real good but I am picky and like to tinker. I just find the cinnamon roll to be high on the cinnamon and low on the roll so adding a pastry flavor too it will help balance it out.

Also keep in mind that I bought into real flavors super concentrate early on and they may have tweaked the flavors. My bottle of cinnamon roll may be different than yours. Walt the owner of real flavors is pretty active and responds to his customers feedback which is what I really like.

The only one I've found to have the "Roll" part was FW.
But maybe some have a more sensitive taste towards the cinnamon IDK.
I have been finding the cinnamon based flavors that I enjoyed in the VG versions are giving a much stronger cinnamon kick with the SC counterparts. Maybe it just needs a long steep for the cinnamon to fade a little to let the other flavors shine through? I do have some that have been sitting for a month or 2, will have to revisit them.

Wonder if you could add like 3-4% FA Zeppola to get some doughnut action...

I don't have zeppola, been in a self induced no more flavor buying ban till I can get around to trying what I already have. Who am I kidding, I will probably buy it with a 4th of july sale...haha

I was thinking of doing that with Paczki which is supposed to be a polish fruit stuffed donut. I really like that flavor but I would like a a little more donut or bakery kick to it

Remember new DIY guy here.

I FINALLY RECEIVED!!!

Real Flavors, SUPER CONCENTRATED Baklava and Warm Apple Cider.

Keeping in mind that I prefer STRONG FLAVORS any suggestions for a mix percentage?

I'm new to Real Flavors too. From reading this thread someone suggested 2.5-4% as a standalone. But hopefully more seasoned readers will chime in.

Thanks for your reply!

Sucks to be a DIY NOOB and dealing with a new flavor company at the same time!

Since Like really STRONG flavors I was thinking 5%

But very happy to be corrected!

I mixed the Cinnamon Roll at 5% but (I copied this from @gopher_byrd & myself)

(Me)Got my freebies, I mixed up the Cinnamon Roll at 5% standalone, tried it right away & it's not flavorful enough so I'll just let it steep for 2 weeks.

Haven't done anything with the Taffy & Watermelon yet. Ideas?

(@gopher_byrd) On ELR and All The Flavors the average usage for Cinnamon Roll is around 2 to 2.5%. Maybe the 5% muted it out. I'm finding myself to be moving to the less is more group with flavoring, especially with FLV and FA and that may be the case with RF SC flavors.

(Me) so I'm not sure, I also read here that they need a 3 - 4 week steep.

I do like the Baklava but have to vape it outdoors when no one is around. I mixed it with some FW Natural Butterscotch and a few other things and I think it is tasty but I guess the after smell makes my friends and family cringe....lol.

Since I used it with other flavors it was low, maybe 1 to 1.5%, if I remember right Baklava is a strong flavor but since you like strong maybe try 3%?

I just tried the taffy last night at 2% on it's own. Good flavor but not as strong as I was expecting but that is a shake n vape. I then decided I wanted to make a blueberry taffy so I added 2% FW Blueberry Cotton Candy and 0.50% marshmallow to get it a little more sweeter. It is tasty but not over powering on flavor.

The RF Watermelon is more of a natural watermelon with rind. I prefer candy type watermelon like CAP Sweet Watermelon and LOR colorless which is like a jolly rancher

Thanks maybe I'll try it at 3% the Taffy that is. The watermelon maybe I'll do the same.

It is an odd/strong one. I would do a small tester at 2% to start. I thought I liked it standalone and mixed 220ml at 3.5% and then realized I didn't like it as much as I thought, and the comments about the vapor smell are accurate. My roomies hated it. I ended up mixing the baklava with 220ml of pumpkin pie, some banana bread and some samoa cookie to get it subdued enough for me to vape and not stink up the house. I now have 500ml of a so-so juice.

I really liked this at 2.5% and can't wait to make some banana taffy, etc.

I'm about to mix a bunch of RF single flavors. Hopefully I don't run out of VG :(

I have my 12 last untested flavors ready to mix up this weekend:
  • blueberry pastry
  • boysenberry
  • carrot cake
  • cream cheese
  • honey
  • melon medley
  • orange
  • pear
  • strawberry gelato
  • sweet cream
  • yogurt
  • yumberry

No. I forget the total max alc % (maybe a couple percent?) but Walt mentioned it on ELR and I may have quoted it into this thread previously but don't feel like searching for it. I usually let my 20ml testers breathe for an hour or two after mixing so the alcohol can breathe off a little since I will likely start testing them in a day or two but I don't bother doing that with the 100 - 200ml batches that will be steeping for months. I have seen others metion letting them breathe for 12 - 24 hours but I really don't think that is necessary unless you mix a big batch and plan on it being a shake and vape.

@Heartsdelight I mixed up some testers yesterday of the RF Cinnamon Roll at 1%, 2%, and 3% all with 3 mg Nicotine River nic 30/70 vg/pg. Shake and vape there is a faint cinnamon flavor showing at the 2 and 3%. I am getting the pastry at 2% and 3%. I'll let them rest a bit and see how they do with some age. I don't do the steeping rituals since I don't have any black chickens to sacrifice... :giggle:

I tested using a Gorge single coil RDA with a 0.3 Ohm 26/38 SS316L fused Clapton on a Copper Vape mech squonker. The squonk bottle has unflavored to clean the wicks between tests and I dripped the testers directly on the coil.

Thanks a lot ! Sounds promising I think I'll dilute my 5% with nix, pg & vg so I'll end up with 2.5%.

I just finished a 30ml mix of the Baklava at 2%.

After reading some of the contents of this thread regarding the Alcohol, and some tricks and tips from other places, I put the glass bottle containing the E-Liquid uncovered in my UC and then filled the tank up to the liquid line of the bottle with very hot water from the microwave and turned it on for 30 minutes.

As soon as it cools down I will give it a try.

Update, Totally UNIMPRESSED even after boosting it up to 4%.

I set it aside and will try again in a few weeks.

i just tried again the brownie flavor.
EXCELLENT
I mean this tastes like eating the batter out of the bowl before you bake it IMHO.
I mixed this batch up a month ago at 3% and just tried it again.

Its a HAIR mild to me.
Not sure if it has alcohol in it and thats the issue and I need to learn how to get rid of the alcohol or what

but I do not think this needs steeping. I tried it out a month ago and it seems to taste exactly the same a month later

For those who dont know HICs 3 milky musketeers has been an all day vape for me for over a year. Its my favorite chocolate vape. but this as a stand alone is a very close second.

still havent figured out my old fashion root beer issue. its got good flavor at 3,4,5, and 6% but its so damn mild - I think the diy flavor shack root beer is stronger - ALso should have some ONE STOP root beer soon. Havent had it in AGES but If I remember that one was really good as well

Hi all,

I am new here and new to mixing. Took delivery of everything yesterday, which included 26 RF SC, mainly fruit based (for the other half), sweet based (marshmallow, caramel, bubble gum etc.) and some addition flavours (almond, sweet cream etc.). And sorry for what may become a large post!!!

First off, thank you to all who have commented on this, has been a very helpful read as I was a little unsure as what I was doing with the flavours!

I tried mixing up some bubble gum last night as the other half liked the smell and like Grizwalds Bubblicious so seemed a good starting point for just testing all these flavours before getting adventurous.

So I started with 8ml of VG & 2ml of PG (no nic, as was planning to just get a feel for what each one tastes like on its own). We started by adding to this 0.25ml (c2.5%) gave it a good old shake and dripped (Limitless RDA - not sure on coils - dual premade clapton type 0.3ohm - probably 20/30 watts as other half is not used to my style of vaping, yet!) and basically got no flavour at all. added another 0.5%, nothing - got it all the way up to about 10% (guess as notes are at home and i'm at work!). Actually got some flavour at that point, although it is missing something to make it an enjoyable vape! - Now having read this I am a little worried that this may have gone a bit overboard with the flavour.

Also mixed up coconut and caramel, separately, as one of my favourite all day vapes is Grizwalds cocomel. Again 80/20 no nic - same issue with flavours. Nothing on caramel until 5%, at which point it tasted like burnt sugar, then at 7% the caramel taste came in. The coconut was lacking flavour too at 5%, but had a subtle hint which is what I am aiming for anyway.

Could all this be down to a taste is subjective type thing, as seeing you guys talk of 2.5% for a single flavour seems way to low (based on my limited experience of course haha!), or is it a case that I am going to have to mix a month or two before I need the juice? I was aware of steeping but was kind of hoping I could mix something up and use it sooner as I am starting to run low on 'premade' juice and would rather not have to buy a load more when I have DIY materials that will make more than 5 litres!!!

Thanks in advance for any guidance, tips and advice.

I'll let the more experienced users of Real Flavors comment. I'm more use to Flavourart & Inawera (just a few) where they are mostly shake & vape. I still have to fix my RF Cinnamon Roll,I mixed it standalone at 5% right away I taste cinnamon no roll, @gopher_byrd got cinnamon & Roll at 2 & 3%.

I'm thinking they need at least a month steep to taste anything. If that's the case, I'll prly just PIF all mine.

I'm fine with steeping if it helps the flavor or changes the flavor profile, but I'm not going to wait a month before I can taste anything at all. Ain't nobody got time for that!

Yeah agreed, I cant really wait months for each one, I have a couple of weeks worth of juice left and would rather not have to buy a load more after stocking up on DIY stuff! Good job I checked this thread though as I was planning to just keep adding more, which sounds like may be a bad idea in the long run!! Ill just have a play and see what happens! Hopefully at least one of the flavours will be alright from the get go

They definitely need to steep at least a few weeks in my experience. I would just try and find some recipes* here or over on ELR that you can use or adapt with the flavors you have on hand and mix them up in the 3 - 5% total flavoring range. I normally don't go over 3.5% total flavoring for a recipe or single flavor but I have seen others that go double that when mixing recipes. I lower suggested percentages for individual flavors to keep my recipe total flavoring lower (I don't need a vape that is super sweet or overpowering flavor) but many just use the suggested percentages from ELR and end up with a recipe that might have 6 - 9% total flavoring.

I would mix up a few smaller batches (30 - 60ml sizes maybe) to vape first (possibly a bit higher flavoring percentage if they wont be able to steep a full month) when you run out of store bought juice and some bigger batches that can steep a bit longer to start vaping when those small batches are vaped up if you don't want to buy any more store bought juice. The steeping time sucks when you first start DIY but if you get enough batches mixed up now, and then start mixing a few more batches every few weeks going forward, soon you will be like me and have 2 - 3 liters of steeping juice (all different recipes in 100 - 200ml batches) that are multiple months old so you never have to shake and vape again. Everything I am currently vaping was mixed in January.

*If you want to post your full list of flavors here some of us may be able to suggest some recipes and related percentages to try for your first few batches.

that sounds like a great idea fozzy, I wanted to try all the flavours on their own just to see what does what as I like the idea of making my own things, but cant hurt to get a few bottles whipped up to tie us over when store bought is gone!

Flavour as follows (all SC 10ml):

Caramel Cappuccino
Butter Toffee
Almond
Strawberry and Kiwi
Pineapple
Peanut Brittle
Passion Fruit
Mojito
Marshmallow
Lemon
Fruit Candy
French Vanilla
Condensed Milk
Coffee
Coconut
Caramel
Candy Base
Butterscotch
Bubble Gum
Brown sugar
Boysenberry
Blood Orange
Blueberry
Blue raspberry
Blackberry
Banana

May have gone a little overboard for a first ever DIY order!!!

nah, you probably shoulda ordered more lol. I have a lot of un-tested* recipes (still trying to use up all my older non-RF flavors before I do more RF recipe testing) in my calculator that I think will work out but most of them have creams or custards which I don't see in your list. I am a bit busy right now but will keep this thread open and try to look thru my recipes and see if I can find some recipes you can adapt from with what you have or if nothing else I will try and put together a few recipes off the top of my head that I think might work with the flavors you have. You could also try adding those flavors to your flavor stash on ELR, and similar flavors from other vendors, then use the what can I make button. Here is a great calculator that comes in handy when trying to adapt non-RF recipes of your flavors down from 20% to 3 - 5% - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...KqLFPTW5WMOHq7n8MJVkQJSr_Y/edit#gid=485916094

*Here is one recipe I have made that I know is good at 3.6%. You don't have some of the flavors but you can probably sub some of your flavors for the ones you don't have, or remove some of those flavors and increase other flavors.

Soul Custardy v1.00 100ml (RFSC)
1.75% Vanilla Custard (Real Flavors)
0.50% Cream (Real Flavors)
0.50% Graham Cracker (Real Flavors)
0.40% Butter Toffee (Real Flavors)
0.25% Bourbon (Real Flavors)
0.20% Brown Sugar (Real Flavors)
adapted from this - http://e-liquid-recipes.com/recipe/963821/soul custardy clone v. 3

maybe sub french vanilla for vanilla custard? I don't have their FV yet (not sure on the recommended percent so check ELR) since I still have some from another vendor but it is high on the list to get with the next order. then try subbing marshmallow for cream, almond or peanut brittle for the graham cracker? coconut for the bourbon possibly, or you could just drop the bourbon part of the recipe and increase one of the other flavors 0.25%

Haha! Yes I could have easily ordered more! Ill check out the calculator later on, google docs is blocked on the work laptop!

Wow, thanks for the recipe sounds quite interesting with your recommended replacements. I will whip up a batch of that as soon as I can and let you know in a few months how it turns out!

@Heartsdelight I'm trying the Cinnamon Roll again after a week of rest. 1% not much of anything, 2% the cinnamon is starting to show through a little bit more and I'm still tasting the roll, 3% I'm starting to get some sweet icing along with light cinnamon and roll. RF looks like they need time to set up. I'll try them again next weekend and see what 2 weeks does...

That's good the hear. I mixed up a load of my flavours at 5% earlier this week, tested them today and even after 4 days the flavours have started to come in. Some a lot more so than others but they will definetly need some rest time. My plan is like yours, I will wait another week and see what's what before trying to mix some together. Already have a few ideas of combos from today's test and the peanut brittle is pretty damn good on its own, just needs a pinch of cream and a smidge of marshmallow and I think it could be great!!

blueberry pastry
boysenberry
carrot cake
cream cheese
honey
melon medley
orange
pear
strawberry gelato
sweet cream
yogurt
yumberry

tasted 4 of the first 6* I mixed a week ago so far:
boysenberry and orange at 2% are quite tasty as is yumberry at 2%. pear at 2.5% is not what I was expecting but I won't call it a bad flavor yet. been a while since I ate a pear so hard to say if it tastes authentic.

*6 of the 12 listed above only got mixed a few days ago so they will have to wait a bit longer to be tested

@Heartsdelight, RF Cinnamon Roll now at 2 weeks since mixing. Same 1, 2, 3% mixes in 30/70 pg/vg 3mg in a Gorge RDA with a 0.3 ohm fused Clapton single coil. 1% still very weak and just the lightest hint of cinnamon, but a little sweet from the icing and the roll. 2% still just getting the roll and the icing and faint cinnamon. 3% still light on the cinnamon, but it is there. The roll and icing are there as well.

Sorry, but I can't call this a super concentrate and it will need help with the cinnamon to make it a cinnamon roll. Super concentrates, in my mind, I should be tasting it at 1 to 2%. I guess I'm spoiled by FLV, FA, and INW. I'll try again next week, but dang it 3 or more weeks steep for a single flavor almost makes it not worth the effort.

You guys must like a lot of flavoring. I never go above 3.5% with my RF SC recipes for total flavor percent. I agree some of the single flavors can seem weak by themselves at 2 or 3% but when you put together a recipe at 3.5% total (meaning some of the ingredients are below 1%) it is generally plenty of flavor for me and I almost never use any sweetener (0.25% pyure with fruit mixes sometimes). That being said, I am planning to try a couple of recipes (that I know I like at 3.5%) also at 5 and 7% just to see if it is better, too much, or mutes the flavor.
