Smok Stick V8 issues

So I recently purchased a Smok Stick V8 with a big baby tank from someone who had changed the coil to a .15 double coil. It hits amazingly for the first 5 hits or so. Then it gets a burnt taste that is painful on your lungs. All my friends tell me that my coil is burnt, but the flavor is fine until I've been hitting off it a while. Than it takes about 5 hours to not taste burnt. Do I need a better coil? If so, what coil should I buy for the most extended use? If not, what should I do?

I just got a Smok Stick V8 as well. Are you chain vaping? If you are that could cause it. You should wait 10 seconds at least in between hits to avoid this. Also, which attys are you using? I found that the TFV8-T8 atty's burned out far too quickly; it's better to use TFV8-T6.

How much juice is it consuming? I just got it and I finished 5ml in less than an hour! Really cant use it for all day vaping! Any suggestions??

Smok coils last, at most, two weeks. If the coil was already used, most likely it needs to be replaced. You should replace your coil, at least twice a month.

i have the V8 and the V8 Baby. Both came with the same coils. M2 .15 installed, and a M2.25 spare. I made it around 10 days before changing the coils out on both. I gave the V8 Baby to my son because I had another that my wife couldn't use. It still has the .25 in it. The .25 in the V8 made it into day 3 and had to be changed. It started hitting the throat hot and throwing a burnt taste around the 3 hit. Put a .15 back in it and it is back to working fine. It is a bit of a juice hog. I was vaping a new juice that I really like yesterday. Went through almost 15 ml in the V8 over the day alternating between it and the V8 Baby. Not sure that was all the V8's fault or the fact I was just enjoying the vape.

Yup! Smok coils are juice piggys. The Cleito by aspire has better taste and is not a juice hog. Coils are also much cheaper and last longer. If i was a tank user, I would stay away from the Smok line and get me a cleito. Smok V8's are famous for cloud production, but if you care more about taste and preserving your juice, i would stay away from the v8's. Cleitos are also cheaper than the Smok beast line and the cloud production is not bad.

Can confirm, most smok coils are juice thirsty. the X4 coil i remember was pretty good on juice use, i vaped it around 40-50W. Then i replaced with the T6 that came with it. Loved the thick delicious cloud it made, I use mine around 70-75W. Sucks down about twice as much juice if not more than the X4 coil.

As for the burnt coil taste. It could either be the coil is gunked up with the juice your using, or the vape pen being unregulated might be going a bit too hot for the coil installed, which would be hard to do with a smok coil as most can handle higher wattage than the pen would start off at.

It sounds like to me that you ended up burning the cotton wick around the coil. I had the same problem when i accidentally didnt have my stupid touch screen on my GPRIV locked and my hand jacked it up to 220W. Was a sharp painful inhale then after that a burnt taste that went away once i swapped coils. It also started to leak out the bottom (burned cotton not absorbent)

My advice is to change the coil. Figure out what wattage range the pen utilizes. You might have hit it too much and the cotton dried out and started to burn. Once you burn the cotton its nasty burned taste until you swap coils out. Look up what coils come with the pen then replace with those, a 5 pack shouldn't cost you more than $20 and should last you a month or two depending on the juice you use gunking them up over long term use.

I was using the spare M2-.25 that came with the kit that went to crap in 3 days. I had a 5 pack of the M2-.15's that I replaced it with when I got home. All is good now. Lesson learned was carry a spare coil or rig when I go to work. The M2 coils are the ones Smok made for the V8 pen series. The juice shouldn't be a problem was some Ragna-Rok 50/50. Only thing I have used in either pen was a couple of Ragna-Rok flavors, 1 Gallery Vapes Flavor, and a couple of Cyclops's. Not sure why the coil went tits up, but it happens.

Have you looked into your e-juice being the culprit? I do know some e-celebrity youtubers will say coils last a few days when i get a week out of them or more (usually destroyed my my own stupidity) so you might just be that hardcore for all i know. I had a juice that produced a burning flavor after one tank full no matter how new the coil was (Ethos Strawberry Crispies) and when removing the coil it was caked in gunk. Tossed the juice and ive been going a week on a coil no issue and ill chain vape in the evening.

Personally id be looking at a different mod with a different tank if i was replacing coils every 4th day, that will add up to be more expensive over time than a more expensive mod with a tank that has coils with some longer life.

Personally my baby beast with the T6 coils seems to go until i burn the cotton through stupidity (stay away from touch screen mods lol)

I don't own a tfv anything. However, from my friends who do the coils don't last longer than a week or 2 at most.

Typically, higher sugar content in juice will burn out a coil faster. Darker juices will also kill a coil really fast.
When I first started vaping years back, I had a tobacco juice that would kill a coil with every tankful. It forced me to get into rebuildable tanks and I haven't looked back. I'd rather rewick and dryburn than stop using the juices I like. That said I keep a changeable stock coil in my inventory for traveling but that's all it gets used for.

I've only replaced the coils once. It was the .15's to the .25's after 10 days. The only other time I've changed one was when the .25 failed. I'm figuring that isn't bad for a little over 15 days.
