nicotine content ruining flavour

So i've been vaping for a month on my Smok Alien, previously had ego stlyed vape.

I have a few bottles of 12mg, vanilla bean, blueberry shortcake and a caramel type toffee one.
Now ive gone back to these, specifically the vanilla right now and the flavor is way to sweet and seems really harsh.

I've been basically going through my milkman pudding flavor, cookies and cream and another one, but they are all 6mg. They taste fantastic and I can taste a plethora of flavors and its not harsh or too sweet.

Now is it the e juice or the nicotine content making it taste like shit and un bearable.

note: I have a slight head ache now

have I just been accustomed to the 6mg now where the 12mg just is too strong and fucks with the flavors?

thanks all, it's a shame that I will be wasting the three 12mg 60ml ( they are half gone) but since vaping the milkman 6mg juice lately I dont wanna go back to the 12mg

thanks all for any advice

The nicotine level does sacrifice in flavor.... The nicotine is over powering and after it steeps it gets even stronger in Flavor and also changes the color of your juice.

It becomes even more active with heat. A good base is 3mg or 6mg nic anything above that can make you dizzy, nauseous, even headaches.....

The secret it's staying at a satisfying level. There are many levels for many individuals.....

It's just like smoking a Marlboro ultralight or a menthol light...... Now you smoke a Camel, or Marlboro even a Newport and boy you can feel the difference right.....

The same with Vaping !!!!!!

Yes, if you've gotten used to 6mg, then undoubtedly 12mg is too strong for you -- it's twice as much! -- which might indeed give you a headache -- if not abdominal pains, nausea, and diarrhea -- and yeah, it could fuck with the flavor a bit. Also, your mouth is more used to the taste of vapor now, so whatever juices you started out with, when your mouth wasn't accustomed to the taste, might taste a bit odd. After I'd been vaping about 4-5 months, no way in hell could I tolerate Virginia tobacco flavor anymore, nor anythning else that tasted even slightly like a cigarette -- it all tasted like the smell of laundry that's been washed and then forgotten and left in the washer a day or two, that "sour-ish" kind of smell -- like towels in need of laundering!

You could salvage those 12mg juices if you buy the same flavors in 0mg, and mix equal amounts of the 0mg and 12mg; that would make them 6mg. But if you find them too sweet with 12mg, you'd probably find that even more true, if you tasted those flavors with less nicotine -- nicotine lessens the sweetness.

excellent thank you very much for everyone's comments, the juice had definitely changed and become harsher even though it has been kept in optimal conditions. The ejuice was sent out pre steeped so I wasn't expecting such a huge change.

To be more specific, I am probably now vaping the 6mg 80-90% of the time having used the green apple 12mg sometimes as t helps clean my palate and then gonig back to the milkman flavors its like a smack in the face with flavor.

I have also ordered a DIY ejuice kit with VG and PG so I thought it salvage the juice I could posible "water it down" so to speak with VG/PG and add some more flavor that would complement it.

The thing is the whole flavoring of all 3 juices seems so harsh and not as flavor full as the Milkman juices so should I even bother with trying to salvage them when I have so many concentrates an clone packs on the way?

I think from now on if I order commercial e juice it will be at 6mg strength

It is also common for your taste of different things to be different sometimes even in a day, remember to drink a lot of water everyday it is very important, we all go through this , smoke has muted our sense of taste and now no smoke you go through a healing of the taste buds, juice I loved one week like you said smells and taste like dirty socks the next week the good news is this goes away as you heal. Congratulations on your choice to quit smoking ..

its amazing hey. I was watching DIY ejuice channels wondering how they can taste all of these things in their E juices, then one day it came back, especially after dialing in my Alien and getting the right settings etc

FYI I just amptied out the tank and went back to cookies and cream and it's much better, dammit! but hey at least I can order all of these juices that just come in 6mg

You're lucky, or maybe didn't torture your tastebuds too long -- after 39 yrs of smoking, my tastebuds were apparently the next thing to dead, and now, almost 3 yrs smoke-free, still aren't in really good shape -- I take a lot of ribbing around here for using so much flavoring in my juice. :D My sense of smell has improved a lot, but it was already keener than most non-smokers, so that's somewhat of a mixed blessing, frankly. :D

But yeah, I'd say, all during th first year smoke-free, sometimes your tastebuds will just be like "huh?" and EVERYTHING just tastes WEIRD -- food, drink, vape, the air, EVERYTHING. But that seems to pretty much be over, after a year or so smoke-free. You might find that some foods taste a lot better than you ever realized, and perhaps some that you've liked, you won't anymore -- I used to love the hell out of italian sausage, but now can't abide it.

Sounds like I'm about opposite of you on the taste and smell chart. I was hit by a car bak in 08 on my motorcycle and went 35 yards though the air landing on my head an shoulders on the pavement. I had concussions on the front and rear of he left side of my brain and a bleeding contusion on the right front lobe. Also had at least 3 fractures in my right eye socket that they know of along with a few other issues. Anyways I lost 8 days that I don't remember anything. When I did start coming back around I had lost my since of smell and the only things I could tastes were sweet, tangy, salt, and pepper hot.

Over the years I have recovered some of my since of taste. Smell on the other hand I've not been so lucky. I get a faint wiff of something every now an then. Funny though I have no idea what I'm smelling when that happens. What i remember things smelling like my brain seems to have forgotten how to process. It kind of sucks but is just how it is. I did happen to notice this morning though when I has showering I could faintly smell the soap. When I got dressed and poured a cup of coffee and sat own to drink it and have a vape I could actually smell a light essence of the strawberry in the vape I was using Phoenix by Cyclops. I keep hitting tha vape because that faintness is still there and I'm finding that very nice right now.

On the Nic side of things just from my experience and the way my mind is processing things Nic has a bitter flavor to it. Anything over a 3 and it ruins whatever flavor is there because of the bitter aftertaste left my the nicotine. Yesterday I picked up some Gallery Vapes Penthouse. I got it in a 3 and a 0 and mixed them half and half to get a 1.5. That seems to work. I get the nic I may be needing with little to no bitter aftertaste. Everything else we have is a 3.

My sense of smell is just plain weird, it's so damn keen -- and my sense of hearing too. Both were always exceptional, all my life, but after an almost-fire in a mobile home, I suffered PTSD, and both of those senses, passive, early-warning senses (which both work even when you're sleeping!), went thru the ROOF they're now so sensitive. It's really not pleasant at all, and then quitting smoking, gahhh, makes me wish for some VapoRub at times, to camouflage all the various stinks the world has to offer.

I still startle too easily, but at least I can now ride around in a vehicle without screaming and trying to hide in the footwell -- thank getting a truck with big wheels and tires for that. :D And the sense of smell saved us from a small fire turning into a large disastrous fire, once when a candle-melting caused the glass ashtray it was sitting in to break apart; it set a small fire on my husband's desk, which cost me the Ann Rice box set I had sitting there, and the sweatshirt of his that I used to put it out with, but at least I smelled the candle-wax and got it out before it reached the plastic bottle of nail polish remover. :D So I'll value my sense of smell as a good way to detect dangerous smells... but it's a real trial to live with, sometimes.

I've told people when they are complaining about a skunk or something, "When you cant smell anything even that old skunk would be a welcomed smell." I really miss being able to smell when grilling or BBQing. Half of the fun is being able to smell the food blend with the wood smoke while enjoying a beer and BSing with a friend. You don't realize how much your senses rely on each other to complete an experience until you loose one of them. I'm thankful for what I have recovered. I'm really hoping in time being off the ciggs that what since of smell I have left will become a little more sensitive. Chances are slim that will be the case, but it can't hurt to hope a little.

If anything could help, quitting smoking would be it -- and might not take as long as getting back a full sense of taste; my sense of smell started getting sharper when I was down to less than 5 cigarettes a day, and continually improved after I'd finally stopped entirely... but it was nearly 2 yrs before I noticed much improvement in my sense of taste. Thankfully my taste-sense of "sweet" has been the first to start returning, so I no longer need to add much sweetener to my juice at all, and I'm hopeful that eventually I may not need any... but my ADV, I started making in Dec 2014, and at that time, I used 31% flavor, 2.5% of which was sweetener. Now the percentage is down to just a bit over 27%, and the sweetener is down to .25%, and keeps dropping... but it was nearly 2 yrs before I got enough of my taste back to start reducing the percentages at all.

My husband doesn't have a terrific sense of smell... but after I was no longer inflicting 2nd hand smoke on him, even his sense of smell has gotten better. :D

I can confirm that 12mg nicotine is almost unbearable. I used a bottle of Fruit Roll upz (or something similar to that name) blue raspberry 12mg to break cigs. Guy behind the counter didnt want to sell me it, but the 6mg wasnt cutting it after my first two days. It helped me not go back to cigarettes because when i tried one i felt sick due to too much nic.

Went back to the 6mg and when i try the 12mg its super harsh and makes my lungs tight. Im about ready to drop from 6 to 3mg. The 3mg i have steeping now is like buttery smooth compared to the 6mg. Its like you dont notice how harsh it is until you drop down on nic then go back i feel.

Also just want to point out that not all nicotine is the same, some will be more harsh and spicy than others. Ive heard putting your bottle (closed tight) in the fridge over night might tone down the peppery flavor. Spicy nic is typically a hallmark of a cheap juice...though at 12 and 6mg its going to be harsh due to high nic content.

Everything I'm buying is 3 or less. I'll buy a 3 and 0 in the same flavor and mix them to cut it to a 1.5 or just vape the 0. I have some Cyclops Phoenix right now that is a 3 that I didn't pick up a 0 to cut it with. It has a nice strawberry flavor with a sweet exhale. Problem is when the vape is done the bitter aftertaste is there.

For some reason nic is the one thing that jumps out of anything I vape at me as bitter and leaves an aftertaste in my mouth. I know it's the nic because it is the flavor I associate with cigarettes.

Not advocating a retailer but ive been ordering off dr crimmy, they have 0.75mg and 1.5mg options, im sure there are others as well if you look around. Might just be the juice has a poor quality nicotine. Also id try putting the juice in the fridge over night to see if that remove the spicy feel....though i worry about putting vape juice in a fridge that i have meats marinating in (dont want a funk on them) so i cant speak from experience if that works....i habitually marinate meats btw, so if your fridge doesnt stink like garlic/onion give it a try (id probably buy that baking soda for fridges and stick that in there a day or two before just to be safe) im just not convinced these child proof containers are airtight.

It could be that I can just taste the nicotine which is a taste that I don't particularly care for. Kind of like black pepper. I don't care for that flavor either it tastes like pine needles. I'm thinking if you take a 30 ml bottle of 3 nic and mix it with a 0 nic you pretty much have 1.5 nic.
