Hello Building my 1st mod

Trying to figure out if i can wire up a potentiometer to a dual 26650 . OK here's the twist trying to make a (parallel/series) with no chip . Seeing if it possible to do this like to have the optional control.... but switching from one to other mode would the potentiometer be ok , work for both...th~u.....

There will be smoke unless you get a huge wirewound potentiometer that is used in industry. But then the batteries will not last. What is the point?
