in series you start off with 8.4 volts right and you shouldnt run cells below 3.5 volts well then that would be 1.4 volts from 8.4v to 7v which puts each cell at 3.5v ok now for parallel you start off at 4.2 and to get down to 3.5v you only went down .7 volts as opposed to 1.4 volts in series to get your cells to 3.5v now how come series battery life is actually shorter than parallel... i hope you under stand what im asking as i dont know how to ask any other way thanks.

I wouldn't expect either to last longer with the same wattage drawn from both. As the voltage drops, the amperage rises. You just trade one for the other.

In a series mech mod the volts from each battery are added together. The available amperage and life (mAH) are the same as single single cell. In a parallel mech the batteries share the current load with voltage remaining the same as a single cell.

I wouldn't expect either to last longer with the same wattage drawn from both. As the voltage drops, the amperage rises. You just trade one for the other.
You are correct for a series regulated mod, but not for mechanical mods. In a mech, as the voltage goes down the current goes down as well. For a mech use the standard Ohm's Law equation I=E/R, in a regulated use the power law equation I=P/E then divide that by the efficiency of the mods chip set.

Well, in both scenarios there are the same Watt hours available, which is why it isn't the best to use MAH as a guide for battery life as it really confuses things.

Also as has been explained the parallel batteries share the load. Series setups also push a lot more power at the same resistance, a 0.5 build on a parallel mod would be putting out 35.28W, while the series mod at 0.5 is putting out 141.12W.
This is assuming a perfect scenario at full voltage, but you can see in series there is a lot more power being pushed.

i dont think you guys are understanding what im asking as i know all this as i own multiple series and 1 parallel mod i am just wondering why in parallel you supposed to get longer battery life yet you only go down .7v to get to the min 3.5 volts and in series you go down 1.4v to get down to 3.5v per cell

Battery life is the same with serial and parallel.
With parallel you get double capacity compared to serial but at the same time you run at double the amperage compared to serial at the same wattage.

Think of it as two water tanks, one is double the size as the other and it has a hole double the size at it's bottom, so both water tanks will get empty at the same time.

It's not .7 for parallel & 1.4 for serial

It's 1.4 for parallel and 1.4 for series


Did you forget you have 2 batteries in parallel?
You think it's .7 because it's in parallel. But in reality it's 1.4 that's setup to output 4.2 v

Also, try to learn watt hours vs mAh capacity

You have the same Watt hours in both cases, so the same possible battery life wether in parallel, where the voltage drops only 0.7V to 3.5V or series 1.4V.

It is irrelevant what you are thinking, but I can understand where you are coming from.
